06:02 Guest7413 Hi all! I want to if the nailgun component installation uses the rpm package from /var/www/nailgun/centos/fuelweb/x86_64/Packages in an docker environment  of fuel 5.0.1.
06:02 Guest7413 Or the nailgun package in the docker tarball nailgun.tar?
06:03 Rajbir Hi,
06:03 Rajbir I'm tring to deploy  controller nodes in my Multi-Node HA setup
06:03 Rajbir but getting the errors

06:26 opencloud hi all, how to create a bootable usb from mirantis openstack 5.1.img .
06:31 opencloud I used command sudo dd if=MirantisOp?enStack-5.1.img of=/dev/sdb1 , but usb is not detecting after that. any idea how to do it
06:32 opencloud Whether I need to create a filesystem or format the usb before issuing command?
06:52 kaliya hi Rajbir, are you trying with CentOS
06:53 kaliya ?
06:54 kaliya Guest7413: nailgun is isolated in a docker container
06:54 Rajbir yes.
06:54 Rajbir Kaliya :: Yes.
06:55 kaliya Rajbir: could you please describe briefly your env? Metal? Vlan or gre? Ceph?
06:55 AKirilochkin joined #fuel
06:56 Rajbir it's GRE
06:57 kaliya Rajbir: how many controllers in HA? Seems a kind of timeout. On which hardware?
06:57 syt joined #fuel
06:58 kaliya Guest7413: better ask in #fuel-dev
06:58 Rajbir We are running 3 controllers and out of which 2 are failing when deploying
06:59 Rajbir Let me describe the complete env ::  1 compute,  2 Cephs , 3 Mongo and 3 controllers
06:59 kaliya Rajbir: mongos+controllers on same hosts?
06:59 Rajbir Let me check
07:01 Rajbir We are using different nodes for mongos and controllers
07:01 kaliya so that's better
07:02 kaliya what hardware for controllers?
07:02 Rajbir System Dell Inc. PowerEdge 2950
07:02 Rajbir Kaliya : CPU 8 x 2.00 GHz
07:03 kaliya yes powerful enough
07:03 Rajbir Kaliya : Memory 4 x 4.0 GB, 16.0 GB total
07:03 Rajbir Kaliya : Interfaces 4 x 1.0 Gbps
07:03 Rajbir Kaliya :  Disks 1 drive, 0.4 TB total
07:03 kaliya Rajbir: are you enabling radosgw (swift)?
07:04 pasquier-s joined #fuel
07:06 Rajbir yes
07:07 kaliya I cannot find any related bug or known issue
07:07 kaliya are on your master all services ok? `dockerctl check`
07:08 Rajbir Kaliya : Let me check and confirm
07:09 Rajbir Kaliya : Yeah most of them  showing ready  status
07:09 kaliya Most or all? :)
07:09 kaliya do you have other environments there?
07:09 Rajbir Kaliya : All.
07:10 Rajbir nope, I  guess.
07:11 kaliya Rajbir: is it failing after several tryings?
07:11 Rajbir Kaliya, yes I have tried twice
07:12 kaliya Rajbir: so you did try to deploy all together, not adding new controllers after, right?
07:13 e0ne joined #fuel
07:15 Rajbir Kaliya : Initally, I tried to  deploy all  together but later when it's failed I tried to re-add the controllers.

07:44 kaliya Rajbir: could you please share a diagnostic snapshot? Please post on google drive or dropbox
07:45 Rajbir Kaliya : A moment
07:51 Rajbir Kaliya, can  you please elaborate a bit more as to what diagnostic snapshot you require ?
07:51 kaliya Rajbir: I cannot understand why the deployment to the controllers stuck, so I can try to reproduce
07:52 dancn joined #fuel
07:53 Rajbir Kaliya, all I'm doing is removing the controller 2 and controller3 and then trying to re-deploy the same and then it attempts to re-install centos and openstack on all the three controller nodes and once done I got those errors  http://paste.openstack.org/show/eaEqHHwPrpXfmlAQMf2K/
07:54 Rajbir may be something is wrong with the VIP but I'm not sure.
07:54 kaliya Yep, I will try to ask the developers
07:57 Rajbir thanks Kaliya, much appreciated :)

09:26 hyperbaba Hello there, is someone tried to force ceilometer and mongodb to controller node. I have just one controller and i do some testing . Part of the tests is telemetry. How can i force mongo and ceilometer on single controller node?

09:42 kaliya yep but do you have 3 controllers already?
09:43 hyperbaba kaliya: no. Just one
09:44 kaliya 3 telemetries are needed, or you can work with a non ha to test murano

10:34 anand_ts hello all, Is it a good idea to NAT the administrative IP of fuel master node and work on that. I installed master node on a network and I don't have any local machines on that LAN to get the access of FUEL dashboard
10:36 kaliya anand_ts: you can setup your network as you wish. Just keep in mind security and safety reasons, if you "publish" your fuel master node

12:45 sc-rm This is wierd, after the openstack has been running for the weekend, now the test for creating volumes and attaching them to instances fail. I also can not attach a volume manually to an instance
12:54 kaliya sc-rm: do you still have space available?
12:55 sc-rm kaliya: plenty of space, it’s some problem that comes and goes away, because after trying to run the test for like 20ish times and now it passes
12:57 kaliya sc-rm: the tests in the fuel UI?
12:58 sc-rm kaliya: yep, but I see that I have changing errors in cinder-volume depending if it crashes or passes

21:25 kupo24z xarses: you around?
21:25 xarses nope
21:25 xarses =P
21:26 xarses kupo24z: what's up?
21:26 kupo24z Default 'Network Setup' on fuelmenu has a private ip, if I only have one interface do I need to change that to a public or is private fine for it?
21:27 xarses the 10.20.0.2 address?
21:27 kupo24z Yeah
21:28 xarses you can have it be what ever you want the only requirement is that dhcp is not already on the L2 segment.
21:28 kupo24z I assume it would need to be a public IP since i would have no way to reach the fuel UI or server
21:28 xarses It doesn't need to be routable to the internet. You would likely want an address that you can reach on your network, but it dosen't have to be an internet accessible address unless you need that
21:29 kupo24z Be cool if i could bind a single public IP for the fuel master, and have a private DHCP/Static pool for the deployed nodes
21:29 kupo24z or is that already possible?
21:30 xarses that is possible, usually with a second interface
21:30 xarses I don't thin the fuelmenu will configure a sub interface on single nic
21:31 xarses in that case, just set up the private pool, and configure the sub-interface by hand as the second interface doesn't need any configuration in fuel.
21:32 xarses you would configure eth0 as something like 10.20.0.2/24 in the menu
21:32 xarses and then configure eth0:0 by hand
21:32 xarses after the install is finished
21:33 kupo24z eth0:0 being the public ip?
21:34 kupo24z does the http service listen on 0.0.0.0 or a specific ip?
21:34 xarses it binds to 0.0.0.0/0 so it will answer whatever IP you add
21:34 xarses correct
21:40 kupo24z xarses: for the Network Settings tab, the Public gateway must be the same gateway the Floating ranges use, correct?
21:43 queorgullo joined #fuel
21:44 xarses kupo24z: correct, the floating ranges must be inside the public network, but the ranges can't overlap
21:45 kupo24z Did you ever get anywhere with the multiple ssh keys?
21:47 xarses sort of, it can be forced in the db
21:48 xarses but the ui field won't allow the crlf that is needed

22:03 syt joined #fuel
22:06 emagana joined #fuel
22:06 kupo24z xarses: how many IP's are recommended in the public range vs floating? Just enough for controllers?
22:07 kupo24z We have a /21 assigned for floating and I want to make sure we leave as many for instances as possible
22:07 xarses kupo24z: 5.1?
22:08 kupo24z to be specific, 5.1.1
22:08 xarses nova net, or neutron net?
22:08 kupo24z Neutron+GRE
22:08 kupo24z at least untill you guys finish DVR with 6.0 :)
22:11 xarses so with 5.1+ you don't need public IP's for all the nodes, so you need controllers + 1 (VIP address)
22:14 kupo24z Do you know if there is any documentation planned for how to remove a node from an environment? I noticed when I removed one it simply removed it from the Fuel DB and configurations remained in ceph etc
22:19 xarses deployed nodes won't get removed yet. It's required that granular roles is implemented first then we can start working on removal parts of the lifecycle
22:20 xarses at this time, the only thing that is properly updated is corosync, galera, and rabbitmq when a controller is removed / re-deployed
22:21 kupo24z Are there any remaining tasks to remove a controller?
22:21 xarses hrm, haproxy is also updated
22:22 kupo24z Say if we wanted to upgrade to 3 new controllers, could we just leave the old ones as shut down?
22:23 xarses leftovers would be ceph-mon, any agent records (nova, neutron) cinder-volume data records, swift if present
22:24 xarses the old ones will be un-configured in the items that are properly updated, and will leave stale records in the items that are not
22:25 kupo24z What kind of impact will the stale records have?
22:25 kupo24z I noticed horizon performance is pretty bad once the primary controller goes down
22:36 xarses for the agent records, its just side line noise
22:37 xarses for cinder-volumes there could be pointers to data that no longer exists
22:38 xarses swift I'm not too sure about, likely stale ring members, but the manifests may clean it up. I'm not too familiar with that part
22:38 xarses ceph the mon's need to be marked out, it will cause quorum voting problems in the event of a split
22:48 kupo24z When should I expect to start testing 6.0, beginning of november?

22:57 xarses kupo24z: I would watch the ML for when the builds are listed as stable with the juno code, I would hope before Nov

23:10 kupo24z xarses: was this commited to master/6.0 or 5.1.1? https://review.openstack.org/#/c/124121/
23:10 xarses branch = master
23:11 xarses clicking on the change id redirects back to 124121
23:11 xarses so it hasn't been proposed to any other branches
23:12 xarses if it where backported, it should look like what happens when you click on 'change-id' in this https://review.openstack.org/#/c/126254/
23:12 xarses https://review.openstack.org/#q,I76f258f33325f80fe06167dec08d81dabd292163,n,z
