09:39 hyperbaba Hello,
09:40 merdoc morning
09:42 hyperbaba Is this new concept of nodes not having ip address from public network working?
10:04 merdoc hyperbaba: you can handle this via settings pane before installing env

10:25 hyperbaba merdoc: I saw the option during configuring the environment. My question is, are public ips still needed for normal operation of the cloud deployed via fuel?
10:26 hyperbaba merdoc: or just public ips are needed for endpoints?
10:26 hyperbaba merdoc: and horizon
10:28 hyperbaba Different topic; I have deployed cloud using HA multi node with 3 controllers and 3 mongo db servers. Ceilometer is running. Just checked the Resource usage report for the last week and there are incosistencies in the report. I am certain to have 2 Virtual instances with 4 cpu used for one project. Ceilometer reports just 2 cpus and 1 instance. Where to look for error?

10:33 merdoc hyperbaba: public IP just needed for horizon
10:37 hyperbaba merdoc: thanks, so how much of the ips is needed to be dedicated to the entire cloud consisted for example of 200 servers from the public pool. Just 1? Last deployment scenarios (previous versions) needed 1 ip per node. This is no more?
10:38 hyperbaba merdoc: I am using neutron - gre . Forgot to mention
11:01 merdoc hyperbaba: 1 ip for horizon and 1 for each router, I guess
11:02 merdoc maybe for HA it will be different
11:03 merdoc nodes uses only 'local' IP, and floating if you assign them
11:05 azemlyanov joined #fuel
11:14 kaliya hyperbaba: on public ips, merdoc is right
11:15 hyperbaba kaliya: so in the scaling planing there is no more need to "reserve" ip addresses from public pool for additional nodes. That's great news
11:15 hyperbaba kaliya: just for project routers.
11:18 hyperbaba Looks like the ceilometer metering is broken. I've got bad data for instance numbers per project. Looks like other meters are wrong also
11:24 hyperbaba Here is the example. The project nenad1 has 2 instances for several days. Here is the snapshot of resource usage for that poject. http://pbrd.co/1ufpny4
11:24 hyperbaba You can see the graph... it's totaly wrong
11:31 kaliya hyperbaba: what's broken in ceilometer?
11:31 kaliya oh I see
11:32 kaliya are you on 5.1?
11:35 hyperbaba kaliya: yes
11:36 kaliya did you find something relevant in /var/log/ceilometer?
11:36 hyperbaba kaliya: I don't see any errors in the logs (all deployment is in debug mode)
11:36 hyperbaba kaliya: not even a warning
11:37 kaliya mmh just the metering seems wrong? In displayed chart?
11:37 kaliya what's happening on the CLI
11:38 hyperbaba kaliya: correction, i see warnings related to SWIFT meter pool. It's understandable because of the incompatibile calls . I use RADOS GW as object store.
11:38 kaliya on ceph?
11:40 hyperbaba kaliya: the data on table displayed  in daily report tab is also wrong. It's shows averages instead of sums . The data in the cli is hard to interpret. Will do and let you know
11:41 hyperbaba kaliya: yes rados is on ceph. I use ceph for all can check out in the deployment :)
11:51 hyperbaba kaliya: can't figure it out from the cli. But statistics from cli shows for example max 1 instance for project and there are two of them in that project.
11:51 fandi joined #fuel
11:58 hyperbaba kaliya: found the error. There is some /* temporary RMQ block */ reject-with tcp-reset iptable rule blocking port 5673 ?
11:58 hyperbaba kaliya: what a heck is that?

12:25 kaliya hyperbaba: sure it's not related to some oslo-messaging trouble? what's the exact error?
12:26 hyperbaba kaliya: I've update oslo package to 1.3.0 fuel5.1. Looks like the temporary rule to block AMQ messages stays forever. Just looking at the bug reports.
12:26 hyperbaba kaliya: on the other hand. Rebooting one of the controller nodes created havoc in the system.
12:28 hyperbaba kaliya: how can i manipulate with crm resources to migrate them on a specific node. They spawn totaly randomly on the controller cluster
12:28 bookwar joined #fuel
12:29 hyperbaba kaliya: this way i can pinpoint to problem having all the ceilometer services on one node

16:09 rsFF hi guys
16:09 rsFF i am trying to setup a test enviroment using fuel
16:09 rsFF i already cloned fuel main
16:09 rsFF used the latest fuel-community iso and placed in virtualbox/iso
16:10 kaliya hi rsFF
16:10 rsFF thing is, when i start it it doenst stip any errors but i think is doing nothing while installing master node
16:10 rsFF iotop doesnt show any activity
16:10 rsFF hi kaliya
16:11 kaliya rsFF: you should see grub from the master, then an anaconda installer, then reboots and apply puppet manifests to itself
16:11 rsFF no i iam stuck in the installing masternode
16:11 rsFF i waited for like 2 hours
16:11 kaliya yep
16:12 kaliya rsFF: not possible 2 hours :)
16:12 rsFF exactly
16:12 rsFF thats why I am where...
16:12 rsFF the option that I am using is headless
16:12 rsFF probably lies in there?
16:12 kaliya you launch ./launch.sh and nothing happens?
16:12 kaliya are you trying on which platform
16:12 rsFF it happens
16:12 kaliya did you install vbox extensions and all?
16:13 rsFF i am using an ubuntu latest LTS
16:13 kaliya what happens when you ./launch.sh
16:13 rsFF it spits information
16:13 rsFF reltaed to setting up
16:13 rsFF networking
16:13 rsFF and launching the vm
16:13 rsFF no errors there...
16:14 rsFF but prolly best thing is being near the workstation when i do it again
16:14 rsFF i was having a error related to not using headless
16:14 rsFF and i forced it
16:14 rsFF the error disapeared but it is on the installing master node for ever...
16:15 tristanrhodes_ joined #fuel
16:15 kaliya headless...
16:15 kaliya do you see the fuel grub? it's a light blue screen
16:15 rsFF no kaliya no output
16:15 rsFF ill try that again when i get home
16:15 kaliya in the virtualbox VM's window
16:16 kaliya not on console
16:16 kaliya ok let us know
16:16 rsFF hummm
16:16 rsFF but im not using any X
16:16 kaliya it must work like a charm :)
16:16 kaliya no X
16:16 kaliya the VLC or whatever vbox window
16:16 rsFF i will try again
16:16 rsFF and update
16:16 kaliya when you ./launch*.sh, a vbox window installing the VM must appear
16:16 rsFF no but i get information in the shell
16:17 rsFF that it is installing
16:17 rsFF thing is the installing takes forever
16:17 rsFF and i don see any I/O
16:17 rsFF activity
16:17 rsFF dont
16:17 rsFF thats what i find strange
16:19 kaliya impossible, or there is some issue
16:19 kaliya please verify your vbox works, your kernel modules have been installed, and you installed also the vbox extension pack
16:20 rsFF oki kaliya

20:22 coryc Is the fuel node supposed to be using itself as a DNS server?
20:22 coryc I can't get our domain.local fqdns to resolve
20:24 coryc the /etc/dnsmasq.upstream file has the correct DNS servers

21:32 MiroslavAnashkin coryc: Yes, master node may work as DNS proxy. For additional details please check http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/fuel-5.1/user-guide.html#dns-hostname
21:36 coryc MiroslavAnashkin:  yeah, I had put our DNS servers in there
21:36 coryc as well as putting them in the environments network settings of fuel
21:37 coryc but as far as I can tell the nodes hit the fuel server for DNS queries
