02:19 ckokim hi, anybody know how can i assign certain ip and fqdn to a host, in order to make a clean ip-mac mapping. should i directly set i in cobbler, or should i fix all yaml* files?
02:20 ckokim the yaml files are fetching from fuel cli ` fuel --env-id 1 deployment default` and `fuel --env-id 1 provisioning default`

08:45 kaliya hi ntt, please ask
08:47 ntt thanks kaliya. I have an environment with 12 compute nodes, 2 controller in HA and 2 network nodes for a "non automatic" HA. I'm using havana but i'm planning an upgrade so i read a bit about fuel but i have some doubts: 1) how fuel manage network nodes?
08:47 ntt it seems that fuel join network nodes functionality in the controller. is this right?
09:12 kaliya ntt: right, network nodes are deployed on the controllers
09:13 kaliya also swift is deployed on the controller/s
09:13 kaliya while you can separate compute, storage, and ceilometer
09:13 ntt i cannot separate network nodes from controllers?
09:13 kaliya no, neutron server is installed on the controllers
09:13 kaliya let me check if we have some blueprint
09:14 ntt yes, neutron server on the controller, but dhcp, l3 and metadata agent?
09:14 kaliya we just have https://blueprints.launchpad.net/fuel/+spec/fuel-custom-nodes which is rather generic
09:14 kaliya ntt: those services if not strictly related to nova, are on controllers now
09:18 ntt i think fuel is not happy if i separate this services.....so i cannot migrate to fuel at least for this version
09:24 kaliya ntt: you can try to change by hand, but it's not reccomended
09:24 kaliya ntt: fuel is the installation/management plane. Then you can customize your Openstack installation
09:26 kaliya ntt: I understand your concern in separating the network nodes. We can discuss internally. In the meanwhile, did you see we have the 6.0-pre release? ;)

09:26 Topic for #fuel is now Fuel 6.0 ISO preview with Juno https://software.mirantis.com | Fuel 5.1 for Openstack: https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel | Paste here http://paste.openstack.org/ | IRC logs http://irclog.perlgeek.de/fuel/

09:28 ntt yes. I think fuel is an interesting project because my openstack installation is growing and it is hard manage openstack from bash but i need reliable solutions for production enviroment
09:28 ntt if you want i can continue with my question for understand what will be supported in the future
09:29 kaliya yes feel free to ask anytime
09:30 ntt i'm using gluster as backend for a shared storage on compute nodes. Can this create some sort of problems with fuel? i know that fuel use prefer ceph
09:31 kaliya ntt: we support LVM or Ceph, Gluster is not supported yet, and I don't think we have plans to support it soon
09:32 ntt ok, i know. But what happens on fuel if compute1 has a mount in /var/lib/nova with a native glusterfs connector? i think this is not a big problem...
09:32 kaliya ntt: not a problem for Fuel, after the Openstack environment deployment. Problems will arise when you start adding/removing nodes from the environment.
09:33 kaliya ntt: Fuel let you to install and manage (add/remove nodes) Openstack environments. Then, the environment's configuration is up to you
09:34 ddmitriev joined #fuel
09:35 Longgeek joined #fuel
09:36 ntt ok, so i can install a new compute node with fuel without any external mount. Next i have to install the glusterfs connector and configure mount point. This will work. But the point is: glusterfs is a bad choice from the point of view of openstack? it will be neglected in favor of ceph?
09:36 ntt i need to know if gluster is a reliable solution for openstack
09:38 kaliya ntt: we prefer Ceph. We're integrating it even with ephemeral, glance, and in HA mode.
09:39 kaliya and swift of course
09:40 kaliya ntt: ceph is a bit more sophisticated, but is gaining popularity right now
09:40 ntt i know
09:40 kaliya do you have a production env on Havana so?
09:41 ntt yes
09:41 kaliya and your goal is to upgrade it to Juno?
09:41 ntt juno with 2 steps. Icehouse first.
09:42 ntt i think there are more problems if i jump a release
09:43 kaliya Fuel is not inteded to upgrade already installed environments. We have pumphous as a WIP in Mirantis: https://www.mirantis.com/blog/upgrading-openstack-workloads-introducing-pumphouse/
09:44 e0ne joined #fuel
09:44 ntt so i have to study again :)
09:45 kaliya ntt: we all have ;)
09:45 kaliya ntt: you can give Fuel a try with the demo. If you follow the link in the topic, you can download the 6.0 preview and install in a virtualbox env thanks to some scripts
09:46 kaliya 6.0 will install Juno on Ubuntu or Centos. We have some scripts, so you just have to download the ISO, install VirtualBox, ./launch.sh, take a coffee, and try to play with Fuel
09:47 ntt thanks. i will give a try.
09:47 kaliya ntt: join us in this chat again :)
09:49 ntt ok. i'm interested in automated deployment software because my openstack installation is growing. Are you employed with mirantis?
09:49 kaliya ntt: yes
09:50 ntt i have mirantis associate certification and i attended OS100 in london
09:50 kaliya ntt: cool, do you know we have OS200 now?
09:50 ntt yes. i think i will be in london again in february
09:51 ntt but i'm searching for a solution for the professional certification
09:51 kaliya ntt: where are you typing from?

09:54 kaliya great, have a look to pumphouse so
09:55 ntt is there some solution for os200 and mca200 in the same "session"? why mirantis created os110?

13:54 kaliya hi merdoc!
13:54 kaliya merdoc: your playground ;)
13:55 merdoc yep (%
13:55 kaliya merdoc: let us know how it will go
14:01 merdoc kaliya: where I can find login/password for bootstrap image? seems like bootstrap recognize that I have ib card, but can't recognize that he up
14:02 merdoc looks like I need this - https://answers.launchpad.net/fuel/+question/244670
14:03 kaliya merdoc: do you want the credentials to login into the instances?
14:03 kaliya merdoc: you can inject some cloud-config, if the image supports that
14:04 kaliya http://cloudinit.readthedocs.org/en/latest/topics/examples.html
14:04 kaliya or observe the logs in Horizon in the instance details
14:04 merdoc kaliya: no. I want credentials for bootstrap image that discowers new nodes for fuel
14:06 kaliya merdoc: it's cobbler who discovers new nodes
14:06 kaliya do you want the cobbler UI access?
14:08 merdoc hm
14:12 merdoc current problem is that fuel web shows me eth0 & eth1 (that actually IB card), so I want configure storage via IB, but in UI that card shows as "state down, speed n/a, max speed 10Gbps"
14:15 rongze joined #fuel
14:16 merdoc so I don't know actually what I need to fix rigth now in order to start work via IB
14:29 Longgeek joined #fuel
14:32 merdoc kaliya: is fuel supports only connectX-3 VPI cards ? I have connectX-2 VPI and smth wrong with it
14:33 evg merdoc: what do you see if you login to bootstrap? do you see them down?
14:33 merdoc evg: I can't login to bootstrap, becouse I don't know credentials
14:35 merdoc evg: http://i.imgur.com/lErDT0y.png thats what I see in fuel UI

14:43 evg merdoc: is it up?
14:43 merdoc nope. IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready
