10:57 hyperbaba Hi there,
10:58 hyperbaba I have a deployed cloud using 5.1. On the compute nodes another eth card is added after the deployment. Is it possible to create 802.3ad agregation manualy on the node without redeployment?
10:59 kaliya hyperbaba: if you won't modify your environment later, you can. But a redeployment would be better
10:59 hyperbaba kaliya: i will not modify it for now. Just need that quick fix.
11:00 hyperbaba kaliya: can you please point me in the right direction?
11:02 taj joined #fuel
11:05 kaliya hyperbaba: you have to add the "options bonding" (set max_bonds) to /etc/modprobe.conf, and setup your NIC configurations accordingly, please refer to https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-library/blob/stable/5.1/deployment/puppet/cobbler/templates/snippets/post_install_network_config.erb

15:37 gggg need info about ceph on openstack
15:37 isviridov left #fuel
15:39 kaliya hi gggg
15:49 gggg hi
15:50 gggg I'm going to install openstack icehouse
15:50 gggg using fuel 5.1.1
15:50 gggg 3 controller 1 compute 3 objsotrage
15:51 gggg functions : controller , compute, ceph-osd
15:51 gggg Is fuel install ceph monitoring in automatic way on the controllers?
15:54 evg gggg: yes, it so
15:55 kozhukalov joined #fuel
15:56 gggg on each controller?
15:57 evg evg: yes
16:00 tdubyk joined #fuel
16:00 angdraug joined #fuel
16:04 adanin joined #fuel
16:04 gggg I saw on the controller disks
16:04 gggg I have 2 disk
16:05 gggg that is assigned only 60 gb to operating system
16:05 gggg and the other space is unallocated
16:06 kaliya gggg: which roles have your controllers? Also ceph storage? Or just controllers?
16:07 gggg how can I exploit that space
16:07 gggg just controllers
16:07 kaliya if you want that your controllers also behave as ceph storage, you have to combine controller + ceph storage roles on the same node
16:07 gggg Is better assign also the function ceph-osd to the controllers?
16:08 kaliya gggg: yes, and partition the disk (you can do visually in the UI)
16:08 gggg 1 disk for OS and 1 for ceph?
16:09 evg gggg: usially for ceph it's allocated all the available space (from what's left)
16:09 kaliya gggg: or you can reserve just 30G for the OS, which is the minimum requirement, and allocate the rest of the first disk and the whole second to Ceph
16:10 gggg ok
16:10 gggg thanks
16:10 gggg I'm using 3 object storage for ceph
16:10 gggg is not enough for you?
16:11 kaliya this choice is up to you
16:12 gggg is only a matter of space?
16:13 kaliya gggg: you can read here http://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-5.1/reference-architecture.html#block-storage-for-volumes
16:13 angdraug ceph-osd is cpu hungry at high iops
16:14 angdraug that's why we don't recommend combining it with controllers
16:15 gggg thanks
16:15 gggg another question
16:15 gggg on the object storage
16:15 gggg the disk partition
16:16 gggg I see now
16:17 gggg on the obj that the 2 disk of 2 TB is allocated like :
16:17 MiroslavAnashkin Well, if your second drive on controllers is HDD - it is not able to produce high enough IOPS as SSD.
16:17 gggg first : 60 GB filesystem and the rest unallocated
16:18 gggg second : 1.8TB ceph
16:18 gggg I clicked on the disk and I see 3 possibilities
16:18 gggg filesystem , ceph-osd , ceph journal
16:19 gggg 0 space allocated to journal. is normal?
16:19 MiroslavAnashkin yes,  by default Fuel creates journal file inside each Ceph OSD - it makes OSD disks hot-pluggable.
16:20 gggg but... why a part of the first disk is unallocated?
16:21 gggg I understood for the controller
16:21 MiroslavAnashkin If you use HDDs - it is good idea to store Ceph journal on separate fast SSD in order to speed up Ceph operations.
16:21 gggg I havent SSD :(
16:23 MiroslavAnashkin Ceph may take all the IO of the disk. So, default partition scheme for Ceph nodes excludes the system disk from Ceph, if possible.
