05:56 angryjesters hi.. ive been having issues deploying fuel 6.0 on a nested esxi environment.. the no-net deployment works fine but if i try to deploy neutron w/ gre, the ovs config completely breaks. i lose all communication with the node and i dont see the mac-addreses being learned on the upstream switches
05:57 angryjesters ive specified vlan tags and have tried creating a bunch vnics to force them into the right vlan and leave the network config untagged.. still doesnt work
05:59 angryjesters pretty frustrated as everything worked great with no-net but id really to have neutron working.. seems odd that its misbehaves so badly on a nested esxi environment

08:47 dklepikov Miouge : when new node booted it get bootstrap centos image. than when you create an environment you can select OS for it
08:48 Miouge Ok so only “bootstrap” is to be used for deployment
08:49 dklepikov “bootstrap” is used for node discovering

08:52 Miouge On my hardware the HDD is not recognized on the CentOS bootstrap. Drivers are available on ubuntu by default. So I was wondering if there was a possibility to bootstrap on ubuntu
08:53 dklepikov what HDD was not recognized?
08:53 Miouge It’s a couple of Dell R630 with H330 perc
08:54 Miouge They show up as “HDD: ?GB” is Fuel’s web GUI

09:48 dklepikov Miouge  you can try with customized kernel
09:49 dklepikov Miouge : download http://89.191.240.52/files/initramfs.img
09:49 dklepikov http://89.191.240.52/files/linux
09:49 dklepikov . Put them inside cobbler /var/www/nailgun/bootstrap/ on fuel node.
09:49 dklepikov Then set the correct permissions, then run cobbler sync inside cobbler
09:49 dklepikov container.
09:50 dklepikov Miouge : Than run `dockerctl shell cobbler`
09:50 dklepikov , `cobbler sync`
09:50 dklepikov , `exit`
09:50 dklepikov Miouge : then on fuel-master node run `dockerctl restart nailgun`, `dockerctl restart nginx`

10:04 Picachu Hi there
10:06 Picachu I just have a question about fuel deployment and upgrade. If I install an openstack environment with Fuel 6.0, could I upgrade my environment to a next releaes (e.g kilo) through a next Fuel version  ?
10:11 Miouge dklepikov: How did you generate this kernel ?
10:17 dklepikov just download it using links  http://89.191.240.52/files/initramfs.img , http://89.191.240.52/files/linux
10:36 e0ne joined #fuel
10:39 dklepikov Miouge :  then test it on some test fuel-master node to ensure that this bootstrap normally detect your hardware
10:41 Miouge I am working on it, thank you!
10:47 Picachu I just have a question about fuel deployment and upgrade. If I install an openstack environment with Fuel 6.0, could I upgrade my environment to a next releaes (e.g kilo) through a next Fuel version ?
10:51 dklepikov Picachu : http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/fuel-master/user-guide.html#upgrade-patch-top-ug
10:51 dklepikov Picachu : Mirantis OpenStack 6.0 is our first release that is based on the OpenStack Juno release so no update functionality is provided. Update functionality was provided as an experimental feature in 5.x releases and we plan to provide it in 6.x releases after 6.0.
10:56 Miouge dklepikov: Disks are now recognized, thanks a lot!
10:58 Miouge Would 6.0 (instead of 5.1) need the same kernel files ?
11:13 dklepikov Miouge : you can use this bootstrap too, i checked it on fuel 6.0 it works
11:20 Miouge Perfect
11:22 Miouge Is it common to have such issues with drivers ? I am looking to purchase some supermicro servers for the Ceph nodes
11:23 e0ne joined #fuel
11:30 dklepikov Miouge:  you can try to create your own using http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTricks/CreateNewInitrd with drivers you need and test it
11:31 Miouge makes sense

14:23 Picachu hmm it seems you talk about update, I mean updating from Juno release to a kilo release
14:27 dklepikov on production cluster?
14:28 Picachu yes
14:29 dklepikov if will be possibility to upgrade fuel and it will support few releases then create new env on new release then migrate all instances there

15:04 angryjesters good morning, with fuel 6.0 - is the neutron w/ gre deployment supported on a nested esxi environment?
15:06 mpetason joined #fuel
15:08 Picachu dklepikov : yes, but with automated upgrade of the openstack components on the nodes. Do you know if this is foreseen ?

15:38 samuelbartel dklepikov :Hello, If I come back to Picache question, does that mean that for a production environment installed with fuel 5.1  in Icehouse, we have no way to directly update the deplopyed environment to Juno by updating the fuel master node to Juno??
15:38 teran joined #fuel
15:39 samuelbartel I mean creating a new juno Environment and migrate VM can be done with a small amount of compute node and deployed instances
15:39 samuelbartel but in a large deployment scale it seems a ltille bit complicated isn't it?
15:42 dklepikov samuelbartel : Hello. You can upgrade a Fuel Master node to 6.0 from an earlier version of Mirantis OpenStack Release 5.x. After you do this, your new Fuel 6.0 console can manage your existing 5.x.x OpenStack environment(s) and create and manage new 6.0 OpenStack environments. http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/fuel-master/user-guide.html#upgrade-fuel-from-earlier-versions Then create new env on new release then migrate all instances there
15:44 samuelbartel so that mean that  i need quiet as many compute nodes available than used in my icehouse environment?
15:48 samuelbartel and so need to provision X new servers for the migration (X = to the number of server in my existing env?)
15:49 dklepikov Picachu  samuelbartel About migration - I heard about the development CloudFerry
15:50 dklepikov you can setup cluster with 1-2 compute nodes. Then migrate from old 1-2 nodes instances and move free nodes to new cluster.

15:56 neophy Hi, I deployed openstack vCenter env using fuel 5.1 then and manually configured it to work with Neutron + VMware dvSwitch ML2 Mechanism driver. It is working fine. I have deployed another environment with neutron + kvm using fuel 5.1 and manually configured it with neutron + vCenter + VMware dvSwitch ML2 Mechanism driver. I am facing one issue while creating VM from dashboard.
15:56 neophy Dashboard shows : Error: Failed to launch instance "VM-200": Please try again later [Error: No valid host was found. ].
15:57 neophy and getting :  raise exception.NetworkNotFoundForBridge(bridge=bridge)\n', u'NetworkNotFoundForBridge: Network could not be found for bridge br-int\n']
15:57 neophy in nova-all.conf
15:58 neophy It looks like br100 with vlan 103 is missing
15:58 neophy any help?
16:01 neophy # ip link | grep br100
16:01 neophy 20: br100: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN
16:01 neophy
16:02 neophy this not there in my second which I converted from neutron + kvm to vCenter + dvSwitch
16:02 neophy not sure this issue but I am guessing this may be issue.
