09:31 saibarspeis Hi gents
09:31 saibarspeis In HA mode, on one of the controllers mysql is down.
09:31 saibarspeis There are no logs in /var/log/mysql* anything

13:36 aliemieshko Fuel 6 based on the latest stable Juno release of OpenStack. You can upgrade a Fuel Master node to 6.0 from an earlier version of Mirantis OpenStack Release 5.x. After you do this, your new Fuel 6.0 console can manage your existing 5.x.x OpenStack environment(s) and create and manage new 6.0 OpenStack environments.

13:38 championofcyrodi Hi.  My healthcheck is failing on creating volume and booting from it.  It says to refer to the OpenStack logs for more details.  But I'm not sure which service log to check.

13:39 championofcyrodi is fuel 5.1
13:40 benrodrigue joined #fuel
13:42 sc-rm aliemieshko: As I read that I’m not able to upgrade the current Icehouse environment to a juno version?
13:43 aliemieshko no, you may create new env  on Juno
13:45 aliemieshko old env (icehouce) will remain the same version

13:50 championofcyrodi aliemieshko: would upgrading a 5.1 instance that currently fails health checks be a bad idea?
13:54 mattgriffin joined #fuel
13:55 aliemieshko championofcyrodi: i think, upgrade do not fix problem, you need to understand what is wrong before update
13:55 championofcyrodi makes sense.

13:56 championofcyrodi how do I know which of the 3 controllers to look for the error on?  is the quorum all active or is only 1 controller active and others are passive?
13:57 championofcyrodi This is "HA" deployment I inherited from previous administrator.
13:58 aliemieshko you can watch on any controller
14:00 championofcyrodi thank you.  that is helpful to know.  I have been looking through logs on all 3 controllers and seeing some errors on 1 controller but not on the others.
14:03 sc-rm aliemieshko: Ahe I see, so I have to wait for mirantis to finish the upgrade scripts from 5.x to 6.x
14:06 aliemieshko At this moment mirantis have update. you can download it from https://software.mirantis.com/

14:19 alsadi hi, given two 100GB SSDs and a hand full of large spins for a storage node, can I define software raid for the OS using fuel?
14:21 Longgeek joined #fuel
14:23 alsadi I'm considering putting ceph jouran on the remaining part of the SSD (each SSD have 50GB for OS + 50 for ceph jouranl)
14:25 merdoc alsadi: did you perform rados bench on your ceph storage?
14:26 merdoc if I'm right, journal not necessery for ssd backend.
14:26 alsadi no, I'm still in planning, considering my old hardware and buying missing elements
14:27 alsadi merdoc: we have relatively large spins for OSD, and only two 100GB SSDs (the large spins for OSD, and the SSDs are for journal and OS)
14:29 dkusidlo joined #fuel
14:33 alsadi for a storage node we need to define 3 types of spaces: a space for OS, another for Ceph Jouranl, and the 3rd is Ceph OSD
14:34 ignatenko joined #fuel
14:35 alsadi I want OSD to be the large spins, and I got a very limited small SSD for OS and Journal. can I use software raid1 for the OS? and raid0 for the journal?
14:38 mattgriffin joined #fuel
14:42 fandi joined #fuel
14:43 alsadi is my use case normal or not? I guess every body have large spins and very limited SSDs. Any advice here.
14:51 merdoc I think in that case it's preferable to use SSD as journal for hdd storage.
14:53 alsadi merdoc,  yes, and where to put the OS?
14:54 merdoc also on ssd? why not?
14:55 alsadi merdoc, right! but unlike Ceph, base OS needs raid. and here comes my question.
14:58 enik alsadi: no need for raid0 for journal, put half osd's journal on one ssd and the rest on second
14:59 enik if you create raid0, crash of one ssd will break all osd's on this server
15:00 championofcyrodi well i've discovered 1 issue with only 1 of my controllers rabbitmq config...
15:00 championofcyrodi {amqp_error,access_refused,
15:00 championofcyrodi "AMQPLAIN login refused: user 'murano' - invalid credentials",
15:00 championofcyrodi 'connection.start_ok'}}
15:01 championofcyrodi ugh... I wish people would only install features they need when setting up enterprise type services.
15:01 championofcyrodi we don't even use murano
15:01 mpetason joined #fuel
15:02 MiroslavAnashkin It is known bug. Murano uses separate RabbitMQ server instance, but they use our customized startup script for the main OpenStack RabbitMQ server
15:03 MiroslavAnashkin This customized script restores RabbitMQ DB on startup and adds Nova user from /etc/nova/nova.conf as admin
15:05 MiroslavAnashkin If Murano uses separate user account - it will be overwritten with Nova account. Later Murano team switched to use the same account with Nova
15:06 xdeller joined #fuel
15:07 MiroslavAnashkin Workaround - add Murano user back to Murano RabbitMQ as admin or change Murano account and password in /etc/murano/murano.conf to the same, which exists in /etc/nova/nova.conf
15:09 championofcyrodi MiroslavAnashkin: Thank you.
15:11 alsadi merdoc, enik, ok let's forget about raid0. back to the base os, we can't create hardware raid1 on half a disk or a partition, that's why I'm asking about software raid for only base os.
15:12 alsadi does fuel support software for base os?
15:15 Longgeek joined #fuel
15:16 enik alsadi: sorry, I don't know, we configure ceph manualy
15:17 alsadi enik: manually? with fuel or without fuel?

19:49 MiroslavAnashkin Nginx is stateless container. You may run `dockerctl destroy nginx` and then `dockerctl start nginx' to create brand new nginx container.

20:25 MiroslavAnashkin Cobbler container on start takes /etc/fuel/astute.yaml from host machine and /etc/resolve.conf from both, host machine and from Cobbler container and generates new dnsmasq configuration.
20:25 MiroslavAnashkin You have to update these files according to your changes as well
20:28 clauded MiroslavAnashkin: I need to change the line "server=/local/" in the dnsmasq.conf : there's no equivalent in astute.yaml
20:29 alwaysatthenoc joined #fuel
20:29 clauded from what i understand, /etc/dnsmasq.conf is generated by cobbler from /etc/cobbler/dnsmasq.template but the change don't survive the reboot of fuel.
20:30 fandi joined #fuel
20:36 MiroslavAnashkin There is /usr/local/bin/start.sh in cobbler container - this file is automatically executed on container start. /etc/dnsmasq.conf is generated from several files, mostly from /etc/fuel/astute.yaml
20:48 scheuk question about fuel plugin

20:51 clauded MiroslavAnashkin: from what I can see, it's a puppet manifest that override dnsmasq.template. It's use a variable ($dns_domain) set by default to /local/ and it doesn't inherit the value from astute.yaml
