00:30 strictlyb anyone can assist with a tftp / cobbler issue ?
00:46 strictlyb .
00:47 xarses so you should have an interface on the nodes  for fuel to deploy to that is the same network as was configured on fuel as the admin - PXE network
00:47 strictlyb ok so
00:48 strictlyb i have 2 i have a master
00:48 strictlyb eth0 is public
00:48 strictlyb eth1 is private
00:49 strictlyb my public ip is on eth0 and eth1 has the 10.20.0.2 ip
00:49 strictlyb my other servers on my network
00:49 strictlyb have the same config
00:49 strictlyb lan switch and wan
00:49 strictlyb now, when i try to pxe a machine i get no tftp servers avail
00:49 strictlyb usually with pxe/cobbler which im familiar with
00:49 strictlyb it will come up with a dialog which profile to use
00:50 strictlyb if you dont add a mac addy and set it there first
00:50 strictlyb but it never hits any ftpf server
00:50 xarses correct, it should actually auto boot the default entry which loads the discovery image
00:50 strictlyb so i w as wondering what i need to do to make this work,
00:50 xarses you shouldn't normally need to touch cobbler at all
00:50 strictlyb it doesnt seem to do that
00:50 strictlyb so let m3 add
00:50 strictlyb after fuel installed
00:50 strictlyb it put 10.20.....  on eth0
00:51 strictlyb i moved it to eth1 and also put the 10.20. on eth1
00:51 xarses are your nodes loading the PXE/gPXE agent on eth1 and getting a DHCP response?
00:51 strictlyb does it just bind to eth0 ?
00:51 strictlyb i get no response at all currently
00:51 xarses oh, no that won't work you need to use fuelmenu
00:52 xarses the cobbler container is probably still bound to eth0
00:52 strictlyb how to i move that ?
00:52 xarses start with fuelmenu and set up the nic configuration you want and then save it
00:52 strictlyb i see
00:53 strictlyb let me try that
00:53 strictlyb moment
00:53 xarses and then we need to rebuild some of the docker containers
00:53 xarses let me pull the steps
00:53 xarses which version of fuel?
00:53 strictlyb latest iirc
00:54 strictlyb ok let me try with this change
00:54 xarses dockerctl destroy cobbler postgresql nailgun keystone
00:54 xarses and then
00:54 xarses dockerctl start
00:56 xarses as a fyi, in the future you can force the menu to halt the install by chaning the kernel option to showmenu=yes when doing the initial boot
00:57 strictlyb https://gist.github.com/mikemaring/bef79cbc6cc1f360708d
00:57 strictlyb all good,
00:58 strictlyb lmk if that looks ok
00:58 xarses ya, should be fine
00:58 strictlyb ok, let me try one more time to boot this,
00:58 rmoe joined #fuel
00:58 xarses hmm, I don't see the dockerctl destroy
00:58 xarses did you do that?
00:58 strictlyb i did before
00:58 strictlyb sec ill add in
00:58 xarses ok
00:59 strictlyb updated
01:00 MarkDude joined #fuel
01:00 MarkDude joined #fuel
01:00 xarses ya it didn't destroy anything after cobbler =/
01:00 xarses well we can see if that was enough
01:01 xarses if it works funny we will need to do the other three one at a time aparently
01:01 strictlyb ok sec ill for loop it sec
01:03 xarses oh, its postgres
01:03 xarses not postgresql
01:03 xarses durra
01:04 strictlyb moment
01:12 strictlyb ok going inside now to try and pxe this
01:12 strictlyb will report back shortly,
01:12 strictlyb ok @xarses
01:13 xarses it pxe's now?
01:14 strictlyb going in now to try
01:14 strictlyb wil report back in a few
01:15 xarses I'm about to leave the office, I wil be back online in about 20 min
01:18 strictlyb thanks thats perfect
01:19 strictlyb hey
01:19 strictlyb xarses
01:19 strictlyb do i choose
01:19 strictlyb ubuntu
01:19 strictlyb bootstrap
01:19 strictlyb or centos
01:19 strictlyb looks like its working
01:19 strictlyb @xarses
01:19 xarses just let it go default
01:20 xarses it will load an image that will register its self with fuel
01:20 xarses back in a bit

01:49 strictlyb @xarses let me know when back
01:49 xarses I'm around
01:56 strictlyb so i have one node currenrtly for master
01:56 strictlyb and one more m using for others
01:56 strictlyb i cant put controller and compute on it ? how do i get around this
01:56 strictlyb or is that possible
02:01 strictlyb i do have another node up were im running vms with kvm/virsh can i pxe a node there to run the controller?  how do i need to do this ?
02:10 julien_ZTE joined #fuel
02:17 strictlyb lmk when your back @xarses
02:18 xarses strictlyb: you will need 3 nodes to deploy, a fuel master, a controller, and a compute node. any of which could be virtual if desired.
02:19 strictlyb so if i have a node running vms would i use koan to get it to kick start with the proper cobbler ?
02:20 xarses I'm not clear about what you are trying to do
02:20 strictlyb so i have one node i want to use for compute
02:20 strictlyb and i wanna create a VM to install the front end / controller
02:21 strictlyb u know what
02:21 strictlyb i will get another iron
02:21 strictlyb unless theres an easy way to do it in libvirt
02:21 strictlyb but imagine its not so easy to do so
02:21 strictlyb wiht my setup
02:21 strictlyb ok, ill circle back

20:08 virtuallynathan_ joined #fuel
20:22 xarses strictlyb: so, you want to deploy a KVM hypervisor, and then create the controller node as a guest on the hypervisor, and then deploy the virt controller and use the KVM host as the nova-compute?
20:22 strictlyb bag
20:22 strictlyb what i wanted to do was
20:22 strictlyb i have a iron node im using for fuel master
20:22 strictlyb i wanted to spin up a kvm instance in a iron node for controller,
20:23 strictlyb but doesnt sound feasable i just ordered another iron node from ebay to use for controller not as powerful as my computes
20:23 strictlyb i didnt realize i needed 3 nodes to run it all
20:25 xarses you need 3 nodes, they don't need to be physical if you don't want them to be
20:44 Kupo24z xarses: whats the difference between the 5.1.2 and 5.1.1 oslo messenging packges?
20:44 Kupo24z wg http://fuel-repository.mirantis.com/fwm/5.1.1/ubuntu/pool/main/python-oslo.messaging_1.3.1-fuel5.1.1~mira0_all.deb http://fuel-repository.mirantis.com/fwm/5.1.2/ubuntu/pool/main/python-oslo.messaging_1.3.1-fuel5.1.2~mira1_all.deb
20:49 xarses lemme see if I can figure it out easily
20:53 xarses Kupo24z: whitespace
20:53 xarses so nothing relevant
20:59 strictlyb @xarses
20:59 strictlyb when you say controller is it just the frontend
20:59 strictlyb or is that the networking and such too
21:00 xarses in fuel, it currently contains all of the API services, rabbitmq, mysql-galera, as well as the network data plane neutron-{metadata,l3,dhcp}-agents
21:03 strictlyb is it easy to move controller nodes shall i decide to do that and use a VM temporarily
21:05 xarses easy to move, If you use multi-node with HA, yes you can deploy one controller now and join more later. From an OPS perspective there will be some outage in the data plane when you move the neutron-l3-agent
21:05 xarses the amount of time out in the dataplane would depend on the number of routers and ports that the single neutron agent is responsible for
21:07 strictlyb right now i have all my productions tuff on a rdo cluster
21:07 strictlyb and it sucks so im POCing this to see how to do it best
21:07 strictlyb rdo openstack
21:09 xarses strictlyb: cool
21:10 xarses I'd love to hear your feedback on fuel if you feel like giving it
