10:26 Tigran hi, trying out fuel on dell hardware; the slaves boot from pxe but can't detect hard drives on dell r430, raid-1, h330 mini. any i deas how to overcome that?
10:27 Tigran i was able too install ubuntu 12.10 from the fuel's pxe and make it run (also with some tricks, like manual partitioning, otherwise grub can't boot), but then it is not connected to the fuel server
10:27 Tigran (even ssh is not running by default on that ubuntu)
10:27 kaliya Tigran: you have to insert the drivers for such controllers
10:27 Tigran where and how?
10:28 Tigran thanks for the reply
10:28 kaliya hey calm down
10:28 kaliya can you install a bare Ubuntu on those nodes?
10:28 Tigran i installed an ubuntu that comes from the fuel server (boot menu from pxe boot)
10:29 Tigran so on one of the nodes i have ubuntu 12.04 running
10:29 kaliya and works? So no need to inject additional drivers maybe
10:29 Tigran ubuntu works,
10:29 Tigran but it does not help me
10:30 Tigran it was installed without any manual drivers installation
10:30 Tigran (but needed to create a separate partition to mount /boot)
10:30 kaliya and are drives recognized?
10:30 kaliya mmh this is not good, are you working with 6.0?
10:30 Tigran well, it is installed on a hard drive, so i guess it's fine
10:30 Tigran yes
10:30 Tigran 6.0
10:31 kaliya do you have some specific error message in the UI, after you click Deploy Changes?
10:31 Tigran these are new dell servers
10:31 Tigran the UI does not see any hard drive space (when it is booted from default option)
10:32 Tigran Disks 0 drives, 0 bytes total
10:32 Tigran i tried to ssh to the bootstrap running on such node, but it does not seem to see any hard disks
10:32 kaliya the bootstrap image is centos, so wondering if a standard centos 6.5 can recognize those drives, or if it's actually too old
10:33 kaliya we have no known bugs for this hardware :(
10:33 Tigran any idea how to make centos (that boots by default) recognize the harddrive?
10:33 kaliya https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1420330
10:33 kaliya are you the bug submitter?
10:34 Tigran I have also old r210 servers with no raid, and it recognize things fine, but for the new R430 (bought a couple of month ago) it does not do anythign
10:34 kaliya in the bug, there is a workaround
10:34 Tigran no, i did not submit any bug for the fuel
10:35 Tigran joined #fuel
10:35 Tigran @kaliya (sorry got disconnected) last message i saw was with the link to a bug
10:35 kaliya Tigran: you can fix by adding this https://review.openstack.org/#/c/170475/2/image/centos/centos.ks
10:36 kaliya and this https://review.openstack.org/#/c/170475/2/requirements-rpm.txt
10:37 kaliya in case you cannot find that package on the Fuel repos, I will give it to you
10:37 Tigran does that mean i've to rebuild .img or .iso for the fuel?
10:38 kaliya yes, or wait 6.0.1...
10:39 kaliya evg: any way to add this driver on the fly?
10:40 Tigran when is the release date?
10:40 kaliya Tigran: end of May
10:40 Tigran (i tried to build 6.1 on ubuntu 14.10, but got some errors... it takes a while to build the image...)
10:41 Tigran end of may 6.1 will also be released, right ?
10:42 kaliya yes Tigran, and 6.1 will be relased earlier than 6.0.1
10:43 Tigran which will include these bugfixes? but if there is any way to add these drivers on 6.0 with not much blood (like recompiling the fuel project) I'd be interesting
10:45 kaliya Tigran: if you have an Ubuntu system, you can follow http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel-dev/develop/env.html#building-the-fuel-iso
10:45 kaliya just no much burden, matter of adding that specific commit
10:48 teran_ joined #fuel
10:49 Tigran and also this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1414562   that i hit during the installation of 6.0  (luckily, no need to rebuild things for it)
10:52 Tigran i know it's my problem, but i can't rebuild the iso because it requires to access some git repos on github via git protocol, e.g. bower not-cached git://github.com/carhartl/jquery-cookie.git#1.4.1  and i have organizational firewall that restricts outbound connection to different "non-standard" ports, including git's one; if i could change git to https, that would work...
10:52 Tigran in any case, thanks, kaliya, for your help!
10:53 kaliya Tigran: go to some Starbucks and use their wifi :)
10:58 evg Tigran: customizing bootstrap image is simple. You can even add disk's driver on fly and fuel should see the disks.
11:01 Tigran @evg: how to do so?
11:02 Tigran modprobe megaraid_sas ?
11:06 DMGWEB joined #fuel
11:08 Tigran @kaliya: I may be wrong, but in the country where i am, there is no starbucks :)
11:09 evg Tigran: here the doc about bootstrap customising http://docs.mirantis.com/fuel-dev/develop/custom-bootstrap-node.html#creating-a-custom-bootstrap-node
11:09 evg Tigran: it works. almost...
11:10 e0ne joined #fuel
11:11 Tigran it start seeing disks (it seems) but how to make fuel rediscover the node to get the right disk size?
11:12 evg Tigran: it will be discovered via several minuts
11:16 evg Tigran: There is agent programm running from cron. You can find it's output in logs to see what it report about your disks.
11:20 Tigran on the agent i dont see anything in cron

11:30 evg Tigran: and what is now in UI?
11:31 Longgeek_ joined #fuel
11:33 Tigran i think i've messed up with the hosts (i've 7) so i'll check again these things. This is the output of a working old server...  sorry!
11:33 Tigran and thanks, I'll dig a bit more and come back with questions if any
11:33 evg Tigran: yes. You
11:34 evg Tigran: You've goto the idea. The agent reports about HW and it shoud appear in UI.
11:36 tzn joined #fuel
12:00 Tigran loading megaraid_sas does not help (no new block devices appear; ) The bugfix https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1420330 suggests also a newer kernel... so need to customize the bootstrap?
12:07 evg Tigran: Yes. As I got from the LP1420330 you have just to renew the driver.
12:13 evg Tigran: I would take these megaraid modules and from the bug page test them just on bootstrap node
12:22 Tigran it has only sources of that module, or can i get also the compiled version?
12:22 Tigran (not sure if it can be inserted, as will be compiled with the other kernel headers...)
12:23 Tigran sorry, found some mentions about rpm..
12:25 Tigran but it refers to a host osci-obs.vm.mirantis.net   that can't be resolved (at least here)
12:27 Tigran is there a way to get that rpm ?

14:19 kaliya I had no time to effectively write that piece of documentation :-\
14:19 kaliya but you have to configure some haproxy too
14:23 kaliya if you're trying to secure also Keystone, I must ask internally, we had a dedicated bloke on this
14:24 kaliya DMGWEB: did you configure haproxy with a dedicate stanza to port 443?
14:25 DMGWEB I do not understand English well, sorry if I misspoke.
14:26 kaliya you configured apache/django right?
14:26 DMGWEB haproxy It operates on 443
14:26 kaliya so describe what you've done
14:27 DMGWEB The dashboard works in https, and logging me as admin. But I can not see any data as I keystone authentication fails.
14:28 kaliya looks like Juno, confirm?
14:28 kaliya 6.0 right?

14:34 DMGWEB http://paste.openstack.org/show/wjmwJHCD0Aqwl0eCR0GF/
14:34 kaliya maybe you have to restart the related services on the compute nodes (nova-compute) etc

14:43 DMGWEB same apache?
14:43 kaliya no, if you want put keystone on SSL, you have to configure it

14:48 kaliya so, configuring apache and haproxy should be enough...
