13:14 lquince Hi,
13:14 julien_ZTE joined #fuel
13:15 lquince With Fuel 6.1 will the LBaaS and VPNaaS work with HA Multinode deployment?
13:29 evg lquince: Hi, lbaas won't according to https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1426390
13:35 lquince So am i better of trying to setup Juniper/OpenContrail Ive noticed in the 6.1 ISO from the community build that when you setup you OpenStack instance that there is no open to build a none MultiNode HA enviroment, which then makes the LBaaS plugin totally redundant? Or if I reading the bug correctly, "LBaaS plugin that uses LBaaS v1 cannot be rescheduling easily, so it should warn user about it." which would mean it is still able to install and be made
13:35 lquince available?
13:40 julien_ZTE joined #fuel
13:44 evg lquince: Yes, you can install it in HA like in 6.0. Sorry, I'm not ready to speak about OpenContrail.
13:49 lquince Ok because currently once the plugin is installed on the Fuel server the tick box does not currently show in the settings menu of the cluster.
13:52 lquince I mean in 6.1
14:06 evg lquince: there was a bug that prevent lbaas to be installed on some configuration. It was fixed for current iso
14:08 evg lquince: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1424978

14:16 lquince Ok will pull the latest nightly build and try again..
14:20 evg lquince: the fix is trivial https://review.openstack.org/#/c/158611/1/metadata.yaml
14:20 evg lquince: if it's your case
14:21 lquince OK understand, ill just change the YAML file.

18:45 glavni_ninja_ on my HA deployment of 6.1 metadata service isn't working properly... instances can't connect to metadata service
18:46 glavni_ninja_ now I can't get logs when booting instances
18:46 glavni_ninja_ eg. https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Neutron/LBaaS
18:46 glavni_ninja_ ups sorry wrong paste
18:47 glavni_ninja_ "Unable to get log for instance id...."
18:47 glavni_ninja_ is there any good practises for debugging this kind of problem?
18:48 glavni_ninja_ also VNC console isn't working

20:28 kutija I see that GA release has been pushed toward end of june
20:49 glavni_ninja_ kutija: nobody cares... :|
20:50 kutija well someone will answer, hopefully

21:25 mwhahaha it's been pushed
21:39 HeOS joined #fuel
21:48 kutija mwhahaha: can we know why?
21:48 kutija I mean, are you adding more features
21:48 kutija or it needs more bugfixing
21:48 kutija and polishing
21:48 mwhahaha still outstanding issues
21:49 mwhahaha there was an email to openstack-dev this morning about it
21:49 kutija so, off the record, which version would you recommend for production at this moment - 6.1 or 6.0(.x) ?
21:50 kutija I ask because I need to deploy something
21:50 kutija in the next 10 days
21:50 mwhahaha well upgrades from 6.0 to 6.1 are supported
21:51 mwhahaha http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2015-May/064969.html
21:52 mwhahaha honestly i'm new here so i can't provide any guidance on which version to go with
21:52 kutija so, I'm better of with 6.0
21:52 mwhahaha If it was me, i'd probably go with 6.0 if i can get it working and worry about upgrading later
21:53 kutija judging by this email
21:53 kutija thanks mwhahaha
21:53 kutija I do appreciate it
21:53 glavni_ninja_ mwhahaha: thanks for your effort!
21:53 DrSlump has anyone encountered rabbitmq broken pipe issues?
21:53 kutija yes
21:53 kutija I do
21:54 DrSlump ><
21:54 DrSlump I can't figure out the cause or resolution. It happens whenever I create a network for example.
21:54 mattgriffin joined #fuel
21:56 mwhahaha you could try looking through the bugs to see if there is one that matches your errors
21:56 DrSlump oh i've been looking :(
21:57 mwhahaha i know there has been a lot of work on rabbitmq for 6.1
21:57 mwhahaha I want to say there was something about timeouts not being set or something that might have lead to issues
21:57 glavni_ninja_ mwhahaha: i'm wondering... how the process of upgrading works? it upgrades fuel and then you should redeploy? what about existing nodes and data on them?
21:59 mwhahaha i think it upgrades fuel and then you would deploy new stuff
21:59 mwhahaha there might be a way to roll in new nodes, i know there are some tools that can be used to migrate clouds from one to another
22:00 glavni_ninja_ mwhahaha: so, there should be new deploy and everything needs to be transfered from old cloud to new one? am i right?
22:00 mwhahaha i haven't done it my self, i just know there is a way to do it. maybe i'll try it out tomorrow
22:02 mwhahaha here's how it worked for 5->6 https://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-6.0/reference-architecture.html#fuel-upgrade-arch
22:02 mwhahaha 6.0 to 6.1 might be different
22:02 mwhahaha since it's might be more of a minor update
22:03 mwhahaha not completely sure, i'll see if i can find some more docs about it
22:03 glavni_ninja_ mwhahaha: i would be very thankful...
22:03 mwhahaha but for now i'm off, some others should be around later who might know more
22:03 glavni_ninja_ mwhahaha: thanks once again

22:50 kutija I need one clarification - net04_ext is a network for float? If I assign that network to instance, that instance should have a floating IP and I should be able to access it by using that public IP?
22:54 xarses kutija: no, it doesn't have dhcp
22:54 xarses kutija: you have assign the instance to net04 and then create a floating IP from net04_ext and assign it to the instance
22:55 glavni_ninja_ xarses: so, floating ip then goes to net04?
22:55 xarses the floating ip comes from the external network
22:55 glavni_ninja_ xarses: do i have to assign net04_ext to instance?
22:55 xarses and gets mapped to an instance on an internal network
22:56 xarses network assigned is net04
22:56 xarses not net04_ext
22:56 xarses after the instance is created
22:56 xarses click assign floating ip
22:57 xarses if a allocated ip is avail it will show in the drop down, if not you can click to allocate an IP first and then it can be assigned
22:59 xarses kutija: glavni_ninja_ ^
22:59 kutija hmmm
22:59 kutija then something is wrong here
23:00 kutija because when I do that I can't ping / access instance
23:00 kutija by using public IP from float subnet
23:00 xarses did you change the default security policy
23:00 xarses because it blocks that
23:01 kutija yes I did
23:01 kutija maybe it's just my deploy that is wrong
23:01 kutija I will re-deploy tomorrow
23:02 kutija made some changes in the network setup
23:03 kutija but it's more clear how it works
23:03 kutija thanks xarses
23:04 xarses from an empty setup this is what I use to test networking of an instance https://gist.github.com/xarses/04eb4962f560e30533f4
23:04 xarses kutija: glavni_ninja_ ^
23:04 kutija bookmarking :)
23:04 glavni_ninja_ xarses: thanks for info and this script
23:07 xarses I think in 6.1 the nova floating-ip-create no longer works and you have to use neutron commands instead, but that should work on 6.0 an earlier
23:07 xarses If i remember when I have an env up, I will verify the commands in 6.1
23:08 kutija yes, it does not work on 6.1
23:08 kutija but nevermind, test fails so something is wrong with my deploy
23:08 xarses also, you can use fuel OSTF it does the same thing in the functional tests
23:09 xarses on the cluster health tab
23:09 kutija where can I find what changes were made to each new build?
23:09 kutija since I'm testing them almost every day
23:09 xarses git log is about it
23:10 xarses there can be alot on the dailys, although it should be calming down
23:15 xarses kutija: in order to figure out, you would have to git whatchanged the repo you care about for each of the repos between two of the nightlys
23:15 xarses https://ci.fuel-infra.org/job/6.1-community.all/254/
23:16 xarses and compare version.yaml.txt
23:16 xarses between that and say 253
23:16 xarses and then go to the repo and as for what changed between the two commit sha's
23:17 kutija I understand
23:17 kutija that will help me track things
23:17 xarses sorry its so complicated, jenkins can't see the changes in the repos we pull
23:17 xarses it will list the changes in the fuel-main repo with out any issues though
23:19 kutija yeah I tried to track it via Jenkins but without success
23:19 kutija this is a little bit complicated but I need to track it so I have no choice ):
23:19 xarses that yaml file is also in the iso
