11:47 hyperbaba_ hi there,
11:48 hyperbaba_ I am trying to setup vpnaas on icehouse deployed fuel with 5.1.1. Had to add openswan from external repository. Replaced l3-agent with vpn-agent and did proper configuration of neutron.
11:50 hyperbaba_ The problem is that i have a running pluto instance for my site-2-site connection but it is not binding in proper qrouter name space (i don't see the listening process on ports 500 and 4500. Can anyone help please?
11:51 hyperbaba_ BTW. yesterday i was at openstackceeday in Budapest. Did not find any of you gyus there.

14:20 strictlyb i have a question, if i add new nodes to my environment, anything thats previously running on that environment doesnt get touched right?
14:26 mwhahaha I think it might depend on what you're adding. If you just adding new compute nodes or something, i believe it's just an update to the running keystone.  If you're adding additional ceph nodes, other nodes might be touched but it's usually just configuration adjustments or datasyncing.
14:26 mwhahaha I don't believe that it should disrupt service, but there might be a performance impact depending on what you're doing
14:36 xarses strictlyb: if you add non controllers/mongo, the only thing that might be updated is /etc/hosts
14:36 strictlyb just compute
14:37 xarses if you add controllers, all the controllers will be re-run as they have config updates
14:37 xarses same with mongo's
14:37 xarses they get registered in nova, that's about it
14:37 strictlyb just compute nodes so it should just add them yes no updates to anything other than those new node adds
14:38 xarses like I said, /etc/hosts will be updated on all the nodes in the env
14:39 strictlyb thanks

16:46 ErickCharles Hey everybody:  I'm new to using fuel, and I've run into some trouble with plugins (not sure if it's the plugin's fault, Fuel's, or mine).  I'm trying to use the Mirantis VPNaaS plugin (from https://www.mirantis.com/products/openstack-drivers-and-plugins/fuel-plugins/).
16:46 ErickCharles After installing the plugin, the option to enable it is not showing up when I create an environment.  It looks like the files from the plugin were installed to the right place (in /var/ww/nailgun), and it shows up as being registered when listing the plugins via the fuel cli.  I'm not sure where else to trouble shoot.  Any pointers?
16:46 ErickCharles It's Fuel 6.0.1
16:48 mwhahaha usually there is a checkbox on the settings page after you install a plugin
16:48 ErickCharles I guess I should also say that the plugin says not to display if the net_provider is not neutron, but I've verified that the net_provider for my environment is neutron by looking in the postgres database
16:49 ErickCharles @mwhahaha: Yeah, I don't see it there.
16:52 mwhahaha give me a few to find an environment to install it on
16:54 ErickCharles Thank you!

17:21 rylie having issues with rabbitmq in fuel. getting the following error... TCP connection to AMQP failed: Could not establish TCP connection
17:22 ErickCharles I just tried installing/using the Mirantis LBaaS plugin, and I'm having the same issue.
17:23 rylie tried running dockerctl destroy rabbitmq and dockerctl start rabbitmq, but it returns "return code is 7" for a while and then changes to "return code is 1". Eventually stopping with "ERROR: rabbitmq failed to start."
17:23 rylie anyone have any ideas?

17:27 evg rylie: may be container hadn't been destroyed yet when you started it again
17:28 evg rylie: try dockerctl list -l
17:28 ErickCharles I wonder if the plugin is failing because it wants '6.0' and that is hardcoded not to include anything like minor versions.
17:30 evg rylie: if it's running you can "dockerctl shell rabbitmq" and check what's happening inside
17:31 mwhahaha ErickCharles: it might, let me test something and let you know

17:32 mwhahaha ErickCharles: no it doesn't seam to change anything, you might just want to create a bug https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel/How_to_contribute#Test_and_report_bugs
17:33 ErickCharles Okay
17:33 ErickCharles Thanks for your help, mwhahaha
17:33 ErickCharles Did you just rebuild the plugin and change the versions?
17:33 mwhahaha yea
17:33 ErickCharles Okay
17:33 mwhahaha didn't seem to change anything
17:34 rylie re-ran destroy and now I got rabbitmq     fuel/rabbitmq_6.0        Not created  fuel-core-6.0-rabbitmq
17:34 ErickCharles Alright, cool.  I'll see what else I can find and then report the bug.  Thanks again!
17:40 evg rylie: yes, start it now
17:49 ErickCharles mwhahaha:  I got it figured out.  The metadata file needs to be updated to include the newer version of the OS's supported.  I'll go ahead and submit the bug now (although I'm not sure exactly how it would be fixed, other than offering two separate packages)
17:50 mwhahaha ErickCharles: glad you figured it out

19:02 kutija I have a simple question - how to add multiple floating IP's to one instance?
19:02 kutija if I assign another port to instance and create an interface, I can assign another public IP
19:03 kutija but it's not reachable or the first public IP is not working
19:03 kutija am I doing something wrong?

19:28 ClaudeD I'm testing Fuel 6.1 (HA, with Neutron and Ceph) I rebooted all nodes of the stack and now my VMs fails on cloud-init : Calling 'http://169.254.169.254/2009-04-04/meta-data/instance-id' failed [3/120s]: request error [HTTPConnectionPool(host='169.254.169.254', port=80): Max retries exceeded
19:28 ClaudeD The VMs don't get their ip address I guess. I'm able to ping the Neutron gw however.
19:37 mwhahaha looks like dhcp failed maybe?
19:37 mwhahaha 169.254.169.254 is usually what happens when dhcp is unavailable
19:42 ClaudeD yeah but on wich server is it running? I see a clone set but no single instance of dhcp agent...
19:44 bookwar left #fuel
19:45 mwhahaha the neutron dhcp agent runs on all of the controllers i believe
19:45 mwhahaha pacemaker should start it up
19:49 ClaudeD It's running. Also I tried the pcs commands in the doc but they are incorrect (pcs resource restart clone_p_neutron-metadata-agent, ...)
19:50 ClaudeD oh, it's "crm resource..." : the doc should be fixed
19:50 mwhahaha which doc?
19:52 ClaudeD https://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-6.1/operations.html#starting-up-cluster
19:54 ClaudeD still no luck after restarting clone_p_neutron-dhcp-agent and clone_p_neutron-metadata-agent : my instances still don't get anything with cloud-init :(
19:54 mwhahaha http://www.vmwareadmins.com/openstack-cloud-init-contact-ping-169-254-169-254-establish-meta-data-connection-fix/
19:54 mwhahaha perhaps?
19:56 mwhahaha I created https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1463543 for your pcs restart issue
19:57 ClaudeD neutron_dhcp_agent: unrecognized service
19:57 mwhahaha yea thats if you were doing it yourself, you'd have to restart the resource for fuel
20:00 mwhahaha there's a bunch of different posts out there around this particular issue, do you have anything special in your network?
20:00 mwhahaha http://serverfault.com/questions/655979/cloud-init-unable-to-retrieve-metadata seems to point to mtu issues
20:01 mwhahaha if all else fails, if you can create a bug and upload a log snapshot the developers can look deeper into the issue, https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel/How_to_contribute#Test_and_report_bugs
20:03 ClaudeD ok, I got it : I also needed to restart clone_p_neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent
20:04 ClaudeD thanks for the ticket
20:04 mwhahaha no problem
20:09 kutija mwhahaha: can you comment on my issues with multiple IP's per instance?
20:10 mwhahaha kutija: sorry, i don't know. i can do some looking around in the docs and let you know if i find something but that's not my cup-o-tea
20:14 mwhahaha kutija: older posts about it seem to point to only a single floating ip being supported
20:14 mwhahaha https://ask.openstack.org/en/question/11901/how-to-configure-multiple-floating-ip-for-one-instance/
20:14 mwhahaha that one is from feb 2014
20:14 kutija yeah I saw that one
20:14 kutija but that is ridiculous
20:15 mwhahaha yes and no
20:18 glavni_ninja it's totally ridiculous!
20:19 glavni_ninja all neutron ninja stuff and you can't add multiple floating ips on single instance
20:19 glavni_ninja are you kidding me?
20:19 mwhahaha software networking is hard :D
20:19 glavni_ninja what is hard about it?
20:20 glavni_ninja that's not answer to this problem...
20:20 glavni_ninja can we add or not multiple IPs?
20:20 mwhahaha fixed probably, floating doesn't look like it
20:20 mwhahaha i'm not a neutron guy sorry :(
20:21 glavni_ninja when you say fixed you are thinking private IP or what?
20:22 glavni_ninja where we can find "neutron guy"?
20:22 evgeniyl___ joined #fuel
20:22 glavni_ninja it's crazy... with nova networking with NAT you could add multiple floating IPs and with neutron you can't
20:24 mwhahaha you could ask the actual neutron folks over in #openstack-neutron
20:24 samuelBartel joined #fuel
20:32 mwhahaha https://ask.openstack.org/en/question/30690/add-multiple-specific-ips-to-instance/ fixed ips

20:34 mwhahaha so it looks like multiple floating ips were working quantum way back in the day so i guess it should work (https://bugs.launchpad.net/neutron/+bug/1057844)
