13:29 xarses zerebuz: did you boot the instance with the net04_ext selected, or did you allocate net04 and create a floating ip and attach it
13:30 pab10 joined #fuel
13:33 zerebuz I booted with net04_ext directly
13:33 zerebuz horizon automatically assigned the IP
13:33 xarses in the prior, you won't get any ip address set up because there is no dhcp on the network and I'd not expect it to work. Its odd to me that you don't have any plumbing at all but that could be expected at this point (I haven't looked at it recently). The latter is the expected use case
13:34 zerebuz I'm using 'out-of-the-box' mos 6.1 without any tweaking. just deploy and try to launch a VM
13:35 zerebuz if I deploy the vm in net04 it works as expected through the router
13:36 NERvOus joined #fuel
13:36 xarses yep, that is in line with my expectations
13:38 xarses net04_ext should only be usable since you are on the admin user, if you where a less privileged user you shouldn't see it for selection
13:38 xarses my understanding is that it's necessary to create it this way so that the floating IP range can be allocated from it.
13:39 zerebuz so... If I want to allow user's direct mapping of instances on the external network I must tweaking the mapping manually, right?
13:40 xarses I also understood that it could be forced to work if you allocate a dhcp service for it and have public interface on all the compute nodes ( there is a setting for it)
13:40 sergmelikyan joined #fuel
13:40 xarses your expected use case is to allocate from the private network and then assign a floating-ip
13:40 zerebuz Ok. That was helpfull. Thanks!
13:41 xarses if you want every tenant to allays have externally routable addresses, then your are probably looking for something like provider networks
13:42 xarses but then you have to worry about ACL's between instances
13:42 xarses and it's not something that fuel can be set up out of the box for.
13:42 xarses my understanding is that it's not terribly complicated to convert a deployment, but I've never done it.

17:11 mwhahaha you should be able to build the one that's in the repo
17:11 mwhahaha that should work with 6.1
17:12 mwhahaha https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-plugin-neutron-lbaas/blob/master/metadata.yaml

17:55 darkhuy hey guys, is there a way to manually edit dhcp conf for fuel?
18:12 mwhahaha which one?
18:14 sergmelikyan joined #fuel
18:18 darkhuy basically, i want to raise the 10.20.x.x bottom range from 10.20.x.3 to 10.20.x.10
18:18 darkhuy and use the 7 ips for something else
18:19 darkhuy i see it defined in dnsmasq.conf, but not sure if that is the correct spot
18:19 mwhahaha i want to say there's an issue with that, but you could always try it and see
18:20 darkhuy i'm hoping to still use the cobbler to provide the static ip, but just need those 7 reserved

18:35 darkhuy mwhahaha: it worked :-D
18:35 mwhahaha i think for that network it's fine
18:36 mwhahaha since that's just the admin network
18:36 mwhahaha i don't think the same can be said for the other openstack/cloud networks
18:36 ^Obi-Wan^ joined #fuel
18:36 mwhahaha i believe they are working on (or there is a way) to do a similar thing for the cloud networks via some yaml hacking
18:42 darkhuy yea, would be a lot easier to have access to that one
18:42 darkhuy now i have to hack a way to nat those 7 ips from fuel ~_~

20:40 stachoo dockerctl backup in fuel 6.1 produces just 2 small files (*.lrz and *.sql ca. 3MB in total) within a few seconds. Is it a full backup of the fuel environment? It used to take at least 30 min and 20GB in 6.0... I seem to get a full backup only when I use the --full option  with dockerctl backup, but it's not documented.  Anyone used it?
20:43 championofcyrodi I've used it in 6.0 and my 'full backup' was quite small too.
20:43 championofcyrodi i assume its just the diff between the original docker containers from the install and your changes.
20:44 championofcyrodi and with optimized compression, most of your text is very small.
20:44 championofcyrodi assuming logs are part of the back up as well.
20:44 championofcyrodi are not*
