05:31 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: you should have OS_AUTH_URL variable in openrc
05:32 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: by default, it's https://192.168.0.2:5000/v2.0/
05:32 nihilifer but it depends on your network settings in fuel
05:34 sudo_wodo_ nihilifer: OS_AUTH_URL='http://192.168.0.1:5000/v2.0'
05:35 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: yes, that's it
05:35 sudo_wodo_ but I cannot enter that IP from the outside
05:37 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: then check /etc/haproxy/conf.d/020-keystone-1.cfg on any controller
05:37 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: it should contain public IP which can be accessible
05:38 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: by default, you have "  bind 172.16.43.8:35357"
05:38 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: um, sorry...
05:38 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: "bind 172.16.43.8:5000"
05:39 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: put this IP address into auth url
05:39 sudo_wodo_ nihilifer: OK. It finally worked!
05:42 sudo_wodo_ nihilifer: Just one more question. I need to shutdown this to carry this to other place (I made this with VBox). How should I procceed?
05:43 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: you can just shutdown virtual machines in VirtualBox GUI
05:43 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: and if you want run this again
05:43 sudo_wodo_ nihilifer: First slaves then master? Or viceversa?
05:43 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: in shutdown - doesn't matter
05:43 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: but in running again
05:44 nihilifer sudo_wodo_: master first, then slaves

07:16 insanidade hi all. I have a quick question. it`s my first time installing openstack with fuel and I managed to detect all nodes I reserved for that installation. But I noticed all nodes are using the master node ip as their default gateway. is that expected ?
07:17 insanidade I`m still in the configuration phase (through UI) and the networking verification fails alerting me that my nodes can`t communicate to the internet for fetching installation packages.

07:53 tatyana hi  insanidade, If you do not change value for default gateway over fuel menu during installation of master node then it is expected  and should looks like 10.20.0.1 (for case if you are using vbox scripts)
07:54 insanidade I changed it at that screen.
07:55 insanidade I`ll try something tomorrow. too late here.

12:25 Dragos Hi! When I configure Fuel for networks with GRE segmentation, the configuration tab has a section called Private where it expects an IP address space and optionally a VLAN ID. This section is not available when configuring VLAN segmented environments. If I understand correctly under VLAN segmentation tenant networks are associated with a VLAN ID from the range configured under the Neutron L2 configuration. I assumed for GRE the networks will
12:25 Dragos be associated with tunnel IDs also configured under Neutron L2 configuration. I don't understand how is the Private address space used for GRE segmentation. I checked the reference guide but under GRE segmentation there is no information about the private network

12:59 adanin Dragos: which Fuel version do you use?
12:59 Dragos 6.1
12:59 Dragos sorry, it's the  fuel that comes with mirantis 6.1
13:00 adanin They have the same versions.
13:01 adanin you are right, GRE works with Tunnel IDs.
13:01 adanin Could you provide a screenshot of the problematic tab?
13:03 Dragos sure, just give me a couple of seconds
13:07 Dragos adanin, what is the easiest way to send the file to you?

13:17 adanin Dragos: Every network in Neutron is a separated L2 broadcast network segment. It may be built by a VLAN or a GRE tunnel or VXLAN tunnel or something else. Any L2 segment may contain none, one, or multiple L3 networks - called subnets in Neutron. Fuel creates a one internal netowrk with one subnet in it as a part of OSt installation process.
13:17 severion joined #fuel
13:20 Dragos I see. If I have several tenants do I split the default subnet (created during installation) into smaller subnets or I have to look into more advanced approaches (for example provider networks)?

13:44 adanin Dragos: you’re not limited by the internal network created by Fuel. Fuel does this just to make a cluster “install-n-go”. Of cource you may cnange or remove any networks created by Fuel (net04 and net04_ext) or add your own networks or subnetworks.
13:47 Dragos Adanin: Just one last question. If what is under Private is the network created by Fuel, then why is this part missing when I choose VLAN segmented environments? The Private section in the network configuration appears only for GRE segmentation
13:51 gerst because you don't need a network to transfer the vlan packets in
13:51 gerst because the switch does that
13:58 Dragos Thanks gerst, I think I am beginning to understand
14:00 adanin Dragos: VLAN range should be specified somewhere else on this tab if you choose vlan segmentation.

14:10 adanin Dragos: Here is a VLAN example http://rghost.net/6GsgTc9Wj.view and GRE example http://rghost.net/8vlDCpdWW.view The Private network in case of GRE means the actual network on Openstack nodes which will be used for GRE tunnel endpoints.

14:33 Dragos thanks for the screenshots adanin. In the case of GRE we need a network because IP routing (L3) is used forwarding, whereas in the case of VLAN L2 switching is used. Hopefully I got it right this time

15:14 insanidade Hi all. This is my first time installing openstack with fuel. I managed to have all my nodes detected. I have three nodes (one for compute, one for control, one for networking). Is it normal that it asks us to choose compute and controller nodes and leaves one unallocated node? Does it consider that unallocated node is the networking node?

15:16 ericjwolf Greetings - I have got a lot of help here and I thank you but I am having some werid stability issues with my openstack nodes following my deployment.  It has started reporting things like mysql errors on 2 of the nodes and today all of the horizon actions are slow or timing out.  Where is the best place to get help?
15:16 ericjwolf Also looking for help on how to use the crm tool to show status and either restart things or get debug information.
15:17 kaliya insanidade: one for network? How did you deploy a network node?
15:18 tatyana joined #fuel
15:18 insanidade kaliya: I haven`t yet. My nodes where just detected at this point.
15:19 mwhahaha ericjwolf: crm is just a utility for corosync/pacemaker. You can read up on their docs if you want to understand how to use
15:19 insanidade kaliya: my network verification test just failed with a message some google searches say it`s pretty common
15:19 kaliya ericjwolf: what kind of mysql errors? and https://docs.mirantis.com/fuel/fuel-master/operations.html#how-to-troubleshoot-corosync-pacemaker

15:20 kaliya insanidade: there is no network nodes
15:21 insanidade kaliya: what about neutron? isn`t it necessary a node for it ?
15:21 kaliya there is some net issue
15:21 kaliya insanidade: neutron-server stays on controllers
15:22 kaliya ericjwolf: check the link guide above pls
15:22 insanidade kaliya: so that third server I have (which so far is unallocated) will not be used, right ?
15:22 tatyana insanidade: neutron will be installed on controller  and you do not need separate node for it
15:23 kaliya insanidade: yes exactly, until you assign it a role
15:24 insanidade kaliya tatyana: thanks.

15:27 insanidade I`d need a clarification on that image that is presented when configuring the network (the image in the botton of the page). Is that supposed to be a real representation of my master node and my two slave nodes connected to a router?
15:28 kaliya insanidade: no, just an icon
15:28 insanidade kaliya: I mean that animation that is displayed when clicking the "Verify Networks" button
15:29 kaliya Just an icon
15:29 kaliya A pictorial representation that something is in progress, so you have some animation
15:29 insanidade kaliya: I see.
15:30 insanidade So, does the error message I`m getting stating that my Controller node has no access to the repos?
15:30 insanidade error message: "Repo availability verification using public network failed on following nodes Controller(5a:c8). Following repos are not available - http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/, http://mirror.fuel-infra.org/mos/ubuntu/ . 15:30 kaliya yes
15:30 insanidade but I successfuly log into that node and reach those url`s.
15:30 insanidade I mean manualy.
15:31 kaliya how do you try to reach them

15:32 insanidade name resolution...whatever demonstrates they can be resolved.

15:46 ericjwolf Did not even think about that when I did the install....
15:46 ericjwolf ARG
15:46 ericjwolf thanks again for your help.
15:48 tatyana insanidade: Is it correct that you do not start deployment yet  nodes stay in discovered status ? if so then gw may looks like gw from master node
15:51 vsedelnik joined #fuel
15:55 tatyana if so it is absollutelly expected situation that you has connectivity to repos from node but netchecker fails, according  to net check get data to verify from network configuration tab (where could be some default value) To get network verification passed you need to change defaults public net data in network settings tab, save it and run network verification one more time

18:18 insanidade Once I choose the nodes I want to use, I have the oportunity to configure my network data in that "networks" tab.
18:19 insanidade there is some data in the "public" section.
18:20 e0ne joined #fuel
18:20 insanidade is my public interface in the networking node to be set to a value in that range presented in the "Public" tab ?
18:24 insanidade a netstat command shows an ip in that range trying to reach a remote repo. so, is my public nic to be set to an ip in that public range specified in the "Public" tab ?
