07:50 Dragos Hi! Anybody knows the state of Mirantis plugins for the 7.0 release? The plugins at https://www.mirantis.com/products/openstack-drivers-and-plugins/fuel-plugins/ have not been updated from 6.1 and don't seem to work with 7.0.
08:00 gerst the github repos have 7.0 versios and build directions
08:02 gerst https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-plugin-neutron-fwaas

08:03 Dragos gerst: thank you for the URLs!

08:13 bpiotrowski yeah, as gerst said, you need to check plugin repositories directly
08:15 evgenyl piontec:  hi, could you please take a look at astute logs /var/log/docker-logs/astute/*.log ? There should be information which is related to the process of deployment, I'm wondering if it tried to restart this nodes (and for some reasons failed). Also remember that there is image build happens, it takes some time.

09:58 JoeStack anyone using NFS plugin within fuel ? Try to make it work in version 6.1, but do not see the features in the GUI.

10:03 evgenyl JoeStack: did you install the plugin before creating the env? If yes, then probably version of plugin is not compatible with release of openstack, where you want to enable it. You can find compatibility matrix in metadata.yaml file /var/www/nailgun/plugins/<nfs-version-of-the-plugin>/metadata.yaml releases section.
10:04 piontec evgenyl: hi, here is a fragment of log, that looks like some problem: http://paste.openstack.org/show/475273/
10:05 evgenyl piontec: yeah, some problem with orchestrator, warpc could you please take a look at the error ^ ?
10:05 piontec and app.log is just repeating "[amqp] Detected TCP connection failure"
10:05 evgenyl piontec: there is some communication problem between Astute (orchestrator) and Cobbler.
10:05 JoeStack <evgenyl> I have an environment installed, but I created a new environment after plugin installation.
10:06 piontec evgenyl: but aren't they running on the same host (master)?
10:06 piontec docker shows cobbler, astute and rabbitmq as running
10:07 evgenyl piontec: they are on the same host, but for some reasons cobbler was not available, could you please take a look at cobbler's logs? /var/log/docler-logs/<cobbler-dir>
10:08 piontec and here's the output of 'docker logs cobbler': http://paste.openstack.org/show/475275/
10:09 piontec and output of docker-logs/cobbler/cobbler.log http://paste.openstack.org/show/475276/
10:09 evgenyl piontec: hmm, something really strange, try to access cobbler UI, it's on <your_ip>:80/cobbler_web, login user and password can be found in /etc/astute.yaml
10:12 piontec is astute.conf inside the container?
10:13 JoeStack <evgenyl> So the plugin version is set to 3.0.0 and seems to be dedicated to fuel 7.0. Is there any option to force the plugin to version 2.0.0 which is the right version for fuel 6.1?
10:14 e0ne joined #fuel
10:17 tzn joined #fuel
10:18 evgenyl JoeStack: I don't know if there is an old version which is compatible with 6.1, teran do you know if there is a place where all version of the plugins are stored?
10:19 evgenyl piontec: it should be on the host try to run find /etc -name 'astute.*'
10:19 vsedelnik joined #fuel
10:19 JoeStack or is there an option to checkout/clone an older version from gitHub? I'm not a git expert and can see only the branch master without any (sub)versions..
10:21 piontec ok, got it
10:21 piontec distros are registered, including ubuntu 14.04
10:21 piontec what to check?
10:21 evgenyl JoeStack: yeah, it can be build from the source, but I'm not a maintainer of this plugin so I don't know if there are some tricks to build this plugin, could you please send me a link to the repo?
10:22 JoeStack Clone the fuel-plugin repo from: https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-plugin-nova-nfs.git
10:23 evgenyl piontec: so the idea is to try to reboot machine directly using cobbler, there should be a separate section where all your node are registered, and there should be action "reboot", I don't remember how this section is called, "systems" or something like that.
10:25 evgenyl JoeStack: run "git clone git@github.com:stackforge/fuel-plugin-nova-nfs.git", after that "cd fuel-plugin-nova-nfs", and you need a specific commit, "git checkout -b 6.1 ac16e4301ed5d1f4cf1596038c9432692fba2b39", and follow the instruction to build the plugin https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel/Plugins
10:27 tzn joined #fuel
10:28 piontec evgenyl: ok, there is "systems", but there's only 1 line in it "default bootstrap production"
10:29 evgenyl piontec: try to click other tabs, there should be a list of nodes somewhere, node-1, node-2 etc
10:29 piontec evgenyl: and i'm instaling on 7 nodes and all of them were detected in fuel web ui
10:30 piontec evgenyl: checked all the menus on the loeft and didn't find any with such list
10:30 evgenyl piontec: hm, sorry, but I'm not sure if we create this entities if nodes are in bootstrap stage, let me ask our Astute expert to help here, warpc ^
10:34 JoeStack <evgenyl> Thanks :-) can you explain how to find the SHA-Tag of a specific version? Guess to clone the master branch and then do a specific "git ???" to show all versions/tags
10:35 evgenyl JoeStack: there is commit button https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-plugin-nova-nfs/commits/master and I just found commit message "Update Nova-nfs plugin to 2.0.0 for Fuel 6.1 compatibility" and got it's sha, there is not tags and useful branches, you can see it be clicking "branches: Master" button, there are to tabs, branches and tags.

12:45 vstruk hi skumar! could you describe your problem in more details?
12:51 skumar_ vstruk: i am trying to deploy openstack with fuel..
12:52 skumar_ vstruk: so for that i have downloaded the fuel iso from community 6.1 ... and installed it over a server
12:53 vstruk we have 7.0 released. please use the latest version
12:53 skumar_ vstruk: Now , have configured fuel with fuelmenu .. and four node which take PXE boot .. comes up with IP obtained from
12:53 skumar_ this subnet..
12:53 sergmelikyan joined #fuel
12:53 skumar_ vstruk: Yes, we will try with 7.0... but is it possible to fix the problem for now..
12:54 skumar_ vstruk: right now my network_verifiaction is failing..
12:54 skumar_ and reason for that comes up as ...rabbitmq.rb:25:in `on_connectfail' TCP Connection to stomp://mcollective@192.168.205.2:61613 failed on attempt 317
12:54 vstruk skumar, let's try to solve it.
12:55 vstruk ok, have you configured the interfaces for each node?
12:55 skumar_ vstruk: no..
12:55 skumar_ vstruk: each node is able to register itself through PXE network..
12:55 skumar_ means eth0 of each is able to ping.. and is admin network..
12:56 vstruk right, but there are few additional networks there
12:56 skumar_ Means mgmt and data ?
12:56 vstruk yes
12:56 skumar_ vstruk: yes, for fuel its there..
12:57 vstruk so please check interface configuration for each node. do you use vlan segmentation?
12:57 skumar_ vstruk: yes..
12:58 vstruk so what is network configuration in your case?
12:58 skumar_ vstruk: but does verfiy_network look for mgmt and data network ?
12:58 vstruk i guess so
12:58 skumar_ on fuel node : two networks are there...
12:59 skumar_ vstruk: Admin network 192.168.205.XXX and Mgt network - 10.10.99.XXX
12:59 vstruk ok, and what is interface to network mappings?
12:59 skumar_ vstruk: so 192.168.205.XXX comes up with dhcp request from Fuel to slave nodes..
13:00 skumar_ vstruk: now my question is do i need to configure mgmt on slave node also.. ?
13:01 vstruk you have to set correct interface for each network and configure your switch properly. click to "gear" button at the right of node name and check for interface configuration there
13:01 cartik joined #fuel
13:03 skumar_ vstruk: so could you pls guide what configuration should be there ?
13:04 vstruk it depends on your network layout
13:05 skumar_ vstruk: ok thanks, will try.

13:15 cartik a quick query, will Fuel 6.1 plugins work for 7.0
13:15 cartik or should i look for specific 7.0 plugins?
13:16 mwhahaha they do not work
13:16 cartik oops
13:16 mwhahaha you'll need 7.0 versions but they are not out yet, you can pull the versions from github and build them yourself however
13:17 cartik ok
13:17 JoeStack which plugin do you want to use?
13:17 cartik specifically lbaas, fwaas, ml2 and few others
13:18 cartik we also have some custom created plugins for 6.1 as well
13:18 JoeStack good luck :-)
13:18 cartik my next question would be the plugin developed using 6.1 if compiled with 7.0 will it work?
13:19 cartik JoeStack, is it a sarcastic smilie :)
13:20 JoeStack no it is a friendly one

20:47 mwhahaha not for 7

20:48 ppradhan mwhahaha: ok. i thought centos 6 is supported on fuel 7
20:48 mwhahaha nope, 7 is just kilo & ubuntu
20:49 mwhahaha i believe since kilo dropped python 2.6 suppor that is why there is no centos 6

21:28 jeh joined #fuel
21:28 deckardkain oh @mwhahaha i just reread the history
21:29 deckardkain oh wait i just read those docs. Still no clear path to upgrade from juno to kilo
21:29 mwhahaha yea i'm not sure
21:30 deckardkain i tried the experimental steps using octane.
21:30 deckardkain definitely experimental
21:30 deckardkain man i thought mirantis was supposed to make this stuff easy.
21:30 gerst octane has very many limitations
21:31 gerst you can't have almost anything installed and you can't upgrade with certain network selections etc
21:33 gerst Fuel is good, but atleast the community edition doesn't support upgrades and full lifecycle
21:34 deckardkain yea. maybe it's a ploy for mirantis to charge people for managed services to take care of things like that.
21:35 gerst you mean, like the lack of load balancer as a service in the free edition?
21:35 mwhahaha lbaas doesn't exist for either
21:35 deckardkain i thought lbaas was supposed to be supported in the form of plugins
21:35 mwhahaha since it's not HA there's not much of a push for it
21:36 gerst oh
21:36 mwhahaha i've asked
21:36 gerst maybe the new plugin features allow to create it
21:36 mwhahaha if you need a quality HA LbaaS service, SDN providers seem to be the method to get that type of functionality
21:36 mwhahaha there was an old lbaas plugin
21:36 mwhahaha it just wasn't updated
21:37 mwhahaha so you could take it and run with it if you wanted it
21:37 gerst so it in fact better to just make it yourself atm
21:37 mwhahaha https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-plugin-neutron-lbaas
21:38 deckardkain enterprises would be using f5 gear for load balancer needs. Which is what most SDNs are trying to solve.
21:38 gerst and to be honest, if the plugin wasn't ha I don't want it either
21:39 mwhahaha f5 had an openstack plugin but they aren't really supporting it as far as i know
21:39 gerst well, f5 has a lot more featuers than just reverse proxy with multiple backend support
21:39 deckardkain yup.
21:39 mwhahaha F5 is it's own can of worms
21:39 deckardkain so realy the focus for lbaas should be on the f5/SDN side and not solely on neutron.
21:40 * mwhahaha wanders off
21:40 gerst well.. I think there should be a simple ha lb in openstack
21:40 gerst but whole f5 featureset is well..a bit too much to hope for
21:41 deckardkain well people are always talking about how Openstack is the next best thing for enterprises.
21:41 deckardkain if the f5 stuff gets integrated i'm sure openstack would take off.
21:42 gerst its too big of a business to be offered as free thru openstack
21:42 deckardkain good point
21:43 gerst but, nothing prevents you for using openstack for the backend and just dropping an f5 in front of it
21:44 gerst sure it isn't plug'n'play from the openstack gui, but it doesn't need to be
