03:45 huazhihao Hi, I encountered a ntp timeout during the deployment. The error message is like http://paste.openstack.org/show/476325/ . I manually exercise the issued command and get the output like http://paste.openstack.org/show/476326/ . And the ntp pe result is like http://paste.openstack.org/show/476327/ . While surprisingly I find the ntp.conf in fuel master will still use *.fuel.pool.ntp.org instead of my own setting in https://review.op

17:23 trock-52 Hello. I was hoping I could find support today on this IRC channel. I was pointed here by a Mirantis tech when I called trying to receive support for Kilo on Ubuntu 14.04
17:23 trock-52 Would anyone be willing to work with me on a neutron problem??

17:40 johanfi Hi.. I'm running Fuel 7.0 and attempting to install swift-nodes
17:41 johanfi And by swift-nodes, I mean that I'm trying to install two proxy-nodes and 4 storage-nodes
17:42 johanfi + 3 proxies that I currently have provisioned as controllers
17:43 johanfi But I cannot find a guide on how to install swift-nodes. Do one install operating-system on the nodes, set up the disks etc
17:43 johanfi and then use the puppet-manifests? or are there an alternative in using fuel
17:49 trock-52 Our setup.
17:49 trock-52 1x Controller Node. Also running the neutron networking services in our environment.
17:49 trock-52 10.10.0.50
17:49 trock-52 3x Compute Nodes.
17:49 trock-52 10.10.0.60
17:49 trock-52 10.10.0.61
17:49 trock-52 10.10.0.62
17:49 trock-52 1x Storage Node
17:49 trock-52 10.10.0.70
17:49 trock-52 We currently have the Controller Node/Network Node set up with an external subnet that is mapped to our block of public IPs. We then hand out our public IP addresses to individual instances. We have ran out of public IP addresses. To resolve this, we planned on setting up another external network with IP addresses in the 172.X range. That way, we could assign those addresses to the instances, freeing our need for more public IPs. However
17:49 trock-52 after setting this second external network up, we are having problems pinging instances individually from outside the stack. We think that there is a problem with the NAT translation that is causing these problems. Would someone be willing to work on troubleshooting this with me??

19:47 xarses johanfi: there isn't official support for separate proxy and object stores from swift. the default install will put both on the controller nodes
19:47 xarses you can look at the tasks that are executed for that and probably hack something together that would run the one side over the other.
19:47 xarses you can see the tasks here https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-library/tree/master/deployment/puppet/osnailyfacter/modular/swift
19:48 xarses https://github.com/stackforge/fuel-library/blob/master/deployment/puppet/osnailyfacter/modular/swift/tasks.yaml contains metadata about when some of the tasks will be executed in the deployment graph
19:49 xarses trock-52: you added the second interface configuration to the node and updated the neutron agent code about the new bridge?
19:50 trock-52 Yes.
19:52 trock-52 Yes. added vlan5 and added ovs-br and bridge mappings to ml2_conf.ini
19:52 xarses and is the bridge passing traffic ok? is the router in the namespace passing traffic OK?

20:02 Guest14288 Hi.  Joining re: the Neutron issues we are having with multipl external networks
20:03 Guest14288 It looks to be a NAT/L3 issue.  But I cant find anything wrong.  I can ping the external GW from the controller node.  Put can't ping a floating address and from a VM It cant ping its floating address or the GW
20:11 Guest14288 The use case here we are trying to handle is routing from a project to multiple external networks.  A block of addresses on the internet, and another on our internal network (10.*).  Some hosts should be routed to the internet and some are external only
20:14 Guest14288 So we have 2 OVS routers defined and each router has an interface on the internal network.  The external networks each are bridged using ovs with an interface placed on the bridge.  And the bridge mappings are defined in bridge_mappings in ml2_conf.ini
20:14 johanfi @xarses: oki.. thanks.. How does fuel initate those puppet manifests?
20:15 johanfi I've only used puppet with a traditional puppetmaster setting, so I could not quite how fuel sets up nodes with puppet
20:17 xarses kevinbenton: you around? ^^
20:17 johanfi cause my worry is that if I install swift in standalone-mode, do I need to disable Swift in openstack.. because puppet might create new account-containers etc
20:18 johanfi s/openstack/fuel
20:18 xarses Guest14288: trock-52 check that you can pass traffic to the router for the new network. This will help check that the bridge is functioning. beyond that I'm not sure how much to help. You'd need to talk to one of the neutron guys who know's how to add a second external network better than me
20:19 xarses johanfi: ya, like I said, fuel doesn't support it exactly. If you want to be complete about it. you would want to write a plugin to disable the tasks in the controller role, and create a new role with tasks that calls the manifests separately
20:20 xarses otherwise you would more or less be hacking the implmentation to meet what you want and fuel might revert it in the case that you  say, re-install the controller
20:20 johanfi I saw that there were discussions on creating a dedicated swift-role in fuel 6.1
20:20 xarses which will happen if you scale the controllers (up or down) or simply replace one
20:21 xarses Nothing happend with it yet
20:21 xarses other than with 7.0 plugins you can write one to do it
20:24 johanfi ok, so basically what needs to be done is creating two new roles, swift-proxy and swift-storage in a fuel-plugin. Everything in terms of configuering the swift-nodes themselves should have already been solved in the puppet-class?
20:25 xarses johanfi: you will need to do something to update the list of nodes that each is on (to match the update in the roles) but yes
20:26 xarses this was the change that was done in 7.0 to "support" seperate swift roles
