11:46 kgalanov @magicboiz, most of plugins are maintained on openstack gerrit with a mirror on github, so common openstack developers guide applies - http://docs.openstack.org/infra/manual/developers.html

15:19 ericjwolf_ I installed MOS 7.0 a few weeks ago and for some reason I cannot loginto the webui for fuel.  I keep getting a authentication error in the logs:
15:19 ericjwolf_ 2015-11-12 15:11:34.202 1957 WARNING keystone.common.wsgi [-] Authorization failed. The request you have made requires authentication. from 10.20.0.2
15:20 ericjwolf_ is there a way to recover the admin password in fuel?  I tried re-running fuelmenu but that did nto work.
15:20 ericjwolf_ this is a new install
15:21 mwhahaha it's just keystone under the covers in a docker container
15:22 mwhahaha so i guess if you know how to reset a password for keystone then you could do that
15:22 mwhahaha is the keystone container running?
15:22 ericjwolf_ I think  I found this in the docs:
15:23 ericjwolf_ https://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-7.0/operations.html#fuel-access-control
15:23 ericjwolf_ I will try that
15:23 mwhahaha yup
15:26 ericjwolf_ ok, so maybe this is nto my issue.  I keep getting "unable to login" on the fuel ui

16:51 javeriak guys, quick question, why do we provide Controllers with IPs on the public network?
16:51 javeriak and not computes by default
16:51 mwhahaha api endpoints
16:51 mwhahaha would be my assumption as to the reason
16:52 javeriak hmm... do they pull OpenStack packages directly or from the fuel node?
16:53 mwhahaha wait i thought computes got public ips
16:53 * mwhahaha goes and looks
16:53 mwhahaha otherwise i think we might proxy via the vrouter thing on the controllers or you can specify a proxy
16:53 javeriak nope, its optional, you have to check it off
16:54 mwhahaha mine has a public ip
16:54 mwhahaha i thought they all got public ips unless you're doing dvr
16:55 javeriak well no, theres an option in the fuel UI to assign computes IPs on the public network too
16:55 javeriak how do u share images through irc i wonder
16:55 mwhahaha imgur ;)
16:56 mwhahaha what network type are you using?
16:57 javeriak neutron with VLAN segmentation
16:57 mwhahaha maybe it changed in 8 but i don't have such an option
17:00 javeriak nope ive got 7
17:00 javeriak let me find a working setup and give you an image
17:00 mwhahaha i'm turning on my 7 env
17:00 mwhahaha takes a while

17:18 mwhahaha 20 mins later
17:19 mwhahaha i still don't see the option
17:19 mwhahaha javeriak_: what section is it under?
17:20 javeriak_ mwhahaha Settings --> Public Network Assignment --> Assign public network to all nodes
17:21 javeriak_ this: http://imgur.com/vkQpbSB
17:23 mwhahaha oh there it is
17:24 mwhahaha i don't know if that's even honored
17:24 mwhahaha since my env doesn't have that checked and has a br-ex on all the computes
17:26 javeriak_ it seems to have worked on mine, they all have br-ex with it check, and none without...
17:26 mwhahaha hmm maybe it's broken in 8
17:26 javeriak_ so you would say they all get public IPs anyway. by deault?
17:26 mwhahaha my 7 confirms that
17:26 mwhahaha no so it looks like it's off by default
17:26 javeriak_ yep off by default
17:26 mwhahaha so the other nodes would use one of the other networks to pull down packages
17:28 mwhahaha by default it'll use the management network for it's default route
17:28 mwhahaha so the management network would internet connectivity (to download)
17:30 mark-casey1 joined #fuel
17:31 javeriak_ yes that makes sense
17:31 javeriak_ so they're not getting pakages through the fuel node

17:32 mwhahaha not necessarily directly

17:32 mwhahaha we do have some apt repos that pull from the master
17:33 mwhahaha you can go look at the sources lists for those
17:34 mark-casey1 What happens if you add a node for the Cinder role but do not check any of the options in the section where "Cinder - LVM via iSCSI" is? Does the Cinder node just not get used?

20:46 DevStok joined #fuel
20:46 DevStok hi
20:55 DevStok i'd like to know if I deploy a
20:55 samuelBartel joined #fuel
20:55 DevStok ha environment
20:55 DevStok ceilometer can stay on a single different node?
20:58 ppetit joined #fuel
21:01 ogelbukh DevStok: no, it can only be a part of controller
21:01 ogelbukh DevStok: you can install database storage for it (mongodb) on separate node though
21:06 ppetit joined #fuel
21:09 DevStok will be a good solution dedicate a different node for mongodb?
21:10 DevStok or not influent
21:10 ppetit left #fuel
21:12 ogelbukh DevStok: basically, it's a good idea if you expect lots of telemetry data from tenants in your cloud
21:12 ogelbukh DevStok: note that at least 3 nodes are recommended to install separate mongodb serivce
21:15 DevStok 3 controllers + 3 mongodb ?
21:23 neouf joined #fuel
21:24 ogelbukh DevStok: right
21:24 ogelbukh DevStok: remember, it's only for heavily loaded ceilometer service
21:25 DevStok then if i got only other 1 node , is better install mongodb on the controllers?
21:25 DevStok heavy is correlated on the number of the vms?
21:26 ogelbukh DevStok: if you only have 1 compute node, there's no need to install mongodb separately
21:26 DevStok got 6/7 compute
21:26 ogelbukh the load on ceilometer more correlated to how frequently state changes
21:26 DevStok 3 ctrl 7 compute
21:27 ogelbukh i.e how often vms and other resources are created/deleted
21:27 DevStok state of what?
21:27 DevStok ok
21:27 DevStok then i will deploy a env with 3 controllers and 7 compute
21:27 ogelbukh every such action generate event(s) collected by ceilometer and written to the mongodb
21:27 DevStok ceilometer on the controllers
21:28 ogelbukh so more events - more load on mongodb
21:28 DevStok understood
21:28 ogelbukh DevStok: sounds reasonable
21:28 DevStok ok
21:28 DevStok murano is a module that require specific resources?
21:29 DevStok cinder on the computes
