16:01 dmsimard Hey, this is a silly question. I've tested fuel before on Ubuntu, I guess Fuel consumes Ubuntu Cloud Archive packages. Does it use RDO packages when deployed on RHEL derivatives ?
16:03 mwhahaha no it doesn't use the UCA packages
16:03 mwhahaha at the moment it's still leveraging the MOS package set. I had sent out an email how to get it to work with UCA
16:03 dmsimard mwhahaha: interesting, I was expecting it would - where does Fuel get it's packages from ?
16:03 dmsimard MOS ?
16:04 xarses dmsimard: no, and the last CentOS is in 6.1 (Juno) Where it deploys CentOS ~6.5
16:04 xarses for Openstack, MOS
16:04 dmsimard xarses: ooooh, I meant to ask you earlier because I was ashamed of asking about this but you weren't around T_T
16:04 mwhahaha the goal for i think 9.0 is to get UCA/RDO packages support
16:05 dmsimard mwhahaha: that's good to know - 9.0 is mitaka ?
16:05 mwhahaha i did a bunch of preliminary work to see what UCA supporte looked like
16:05 mwhahaha no 8.0 is mitaka
16:05 dmsimard Oh, okay, so that's a while still :)
16:05 xarses 8.0 is liberty no?
16:05 mwhahaha oh you're right
16:06 mwhahaha well 8.0 is supporting deployment of liberty
16:06 * mwhahaha isn't sure
16:06 mwhahaha we haven't completely aligned versions yet
16:06 dmsimard so 8.0 isn't out of RDO/UCA then
16:06 mwhahaha no it won't be
16:06 dmsimard okay - well, the fact that it's on the roadmap is enough for me :)
16:06 mwhahaha we've got some other issues to fix in order to correctly support using rdo/uca
16:06 blahRus joined #fuel
16:07 mwhahaha http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2015-November/079462.html
16:07 mwhahaha that's how to use UCA with fuel and the outstanding issues
16:08 dmsimard Oh, MOS is the Mirantis Openstack product - had to look that up wasn't familiar with the acronym ;)
16:08 dmsimard ok, cool. Thanks for the info guys.

16:55 Verilium Has anyone here done this hack - https://blog.fi-xifi.eu/openstack-icehouse-running-multiple-external-networks-on-a-single-l3-agent/ - to run multiple external networks?  And does the fact that a restart of neutron is required on all the nodes, will cause a service interruption?
17:01 dmsimard left #fuel
17:08 xarses Verilium: I've not done it, but It's not a hack. this is an expected way to accomplish this.
17:09 xarses newer versions of openstack will likely not clobber the live namespaces on the restart, but your mileage will vary. As allways you should test the change yourself for impact.
17:09 Verilium xarses:  Well, hack, as in, fuel doesn't seem to "support" it out of the box, so, a hack from fuel's point of view. :)
17:09 Verilium Still currently redeploying, so can't test just yet.
17:10 Verilium I'm just wondering how much manual reconfiguration I'll have to do once I add new nodes.  Since it's all puppet behind and such, I'm guessing I'll have to modify the config files after every time I deploy a new node.
17:10 xarses only for controller roles
17:11 Verilium Although, since restarting the l3 agent, from I'm being told, shoudn't cause any interruptions, I guess that might save me yet.
17:11 xarses so you might want to make a task for the controllers to 'fix' it
17:11 xarses or just change the manifests so you get the right config for you in the first place
17:11 Verilium Oh, it'll only modify controllers?  Interesting, ok.
17:11 Verilium Hmmm, I see what you're getting at.
17:12 xarses the controllers puppet only run's again when you re-deploy a controller
17:12 xarses in which case, all controllers will get their puppet tasks re-run
17:12 * Verilium nods.
17:13 xarses otherwise only special scope-limited post deployment tasks like update hosts will run when you deploy other nodes
17:14 Verilium Where would the puppet manifests be located?  In one of the docker containers, I suppose?
17:15 mwhahaha which manifests?
17:15 mwhahaha they are all on /etc/puppet/modules/ on the fuel master
17:16 Verilium Ahhh, thanks.  I'll dig around and see where I would need to modify this to make it a more permanent change.

17:52 Jabadia Question wrt localrepo - once I've finished creating ( successfully ) the local repo, does anyone have an exmaple of how to configure the repository in the UI ?
17:52 Jabadia do I need to have equivalent of trusty , in local?
17:53 xarses mwhahaha: I've no experience with createrepo, can you help or poke some one?
17:53 mwhahaha Jabadia: are you asking how to properly configure the repos once you've created a local mirror?
17:54 Jabadia correct
17:54 mwhahaha let me see if i can dig up the info
17:54 ogelbukh joined #fuel
17:54 mwhahaha it should update but in the case that it doesn't i don't think we correctly documented that
17:54 mwhahaha but i know i put it somewhere
17:54 * mwhahaha goes looking
17:54 Jabadia Assuming i have no internet after fuel has been deployed with local repo.
17:55 mwhahaha https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1477748/comments/1
17:55 Jabadia I assume that I need to remove the default ubuntu repos and put the local one. question is what is the url for each repo ( trusty / mos / mos-update /etc
17:56 mwhahaha but you'd need to adjust the urls to the repos as necessary
17:56 Jabadia that's exactly my question.
17:56 Jabadia hey
17:56 Jabadia sorry , look -
17:56 Jabadia deb http://10.20.0.2:8080/2015.1.0-7.0/ubuntu/x86_64 mos7.0 main restricted
17:57 Jabadia It seems to have been updated . that's awesome . sorry for the false question then!
17:57 mwhahaha so that's the mos one, did you do a full mirror?
17:57 mwhahaha it's all good
17:57 Jabadia yeah, same has been updated for ubuntu and rest. thanks..

18:08 Jabadia 2 question wrt HA - 1 - If I deploy single controller, than add 2 additional controllers, will those form a 3 controller cluster ?
18:09 Jabadia with HA and all, or a manual interaction is required ?
18:10 Jabadia question 2- is there a monitoring for the HA components and their status ? ( e.g "WARN Keystone2 is down" )
18:10 Jabadia ( equivalent to HA proxy stats page )
18:13 mwhahaha yes they will form a cluster
18:13 mwhahaha there isn't a page for the ha components but we do have an lma plugin that can be used http://fuel-plugin-lma-collector.readthedocs.org/en/latest/user/overview.html
18:14 mwhahaha there is a haproxy-status.sh script on the controllers that can be used to report the status of the haproxy backends
18:15 Jabadia great, i'll check that plugin. thanks.
18:16 Jabadia another quick one - Horizon - what would be it's public IP and creds ? ( let's say I gave 10.20.30.40-50 as my public IP range
18:17 mgrohar joined #fuel
18:18 mwhahaha a vip gets created
18:18 obcecado_ joined #fuel
18:18 mwhahaha i think you could just run "hiera public_vip" to get the ip (i'd have to double check this) and the creds are the default keystone creds
18:21 Jabadia great, tnx

19:17 Jabadia So, I have deployed single controller + 2 computes. all was smooth and great. I then added additional controller , hit the deploy changes button -
19:18 Jabadia Now I see that 3 nodes are as if re-deploying
19:18 Jabadia ( those were in 'Ready' state, now in installing openstack state again )
19:19 Jabadia is that expected behavioural when adding controller nodes?
19:20 Jabadia is that same for when adding compute node ( well .. i'll check that soon anyway.. )
19:21 Jabadia I see that horizon is not accessible as well
19:54 LinusLinne joined #fuel
19:59 mwhahaha you need to add two controllers
19:59 e0ne joined #fuel
20:19 Jabadia so if I have 3 controller in total, adding additional compute will not re-deploy the controller ?
20:19 e0ne joined #fuel

20:24 mwhahaha tasks may be run on other controllers
20:28 Jabadia Hi mwhahaha, according to lma collector web, i need to install "Infrastructure Alerting Fuel Plugin" , this plugin does not exist in the mirantis plugin page
20:28 Jabadia Step 3 in http://fuel-plugin-lma-collector.readthedocs.org/en/latest/user/installation.html
20:28 pasquier-s_ Jabadia, you're looking at the latest version of the documentation which isn't yet available in the catalog
20:29 pasquier-s_ Jabadia, it should be available in a few days/weeks though
20:29 Jabadia pasquier-s_: ok, tnx
20:30 pasquier-s_ Jabadia, the doc for 0.7 is here: http://fuel-plugin-lma-collector.readthedocs.org/en/0.7.0/
20:30 pasquier-s_ Jabadia, no problem
20:33 Jabadia If i'm adding/installing a new pluging can I use it only for initial deployment of can it be used on existing one ? ( e.g elasticsearch_kibana , i installed the plugin and do not see it on the setting page )
20:33 kaliya joined #fuel
20:33 pasquier-s_ Jabadia, only for new environments unfortunately
20:34 Jabadia Bummer, thanks
20:46 Jabadia Trying to access a VM console via horizon I see that it tries to access - https://public.fuel.local:6080/vnc_auto.html?token=0fdf7879-5a38-.....
20:47 Jabadia instead of the IP of my node ( and it obviously fails ) , thought? I'll google in the meanwhile
20:47 Jabadia ok, found this https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1495466
20:49 mwhahaha so you'd want to disable ssl or update it with a valid dns name prior to deploying to work around that
20:49 Jabadia well, i wont do that now, just will add that note to the list. thanks
