04:07 Kanzhe Hi, I have question on how to insert a deployment task right after netconfig and before openstack is installed.
04:08 Kanzhe required_for: [openstack-controller]
04:08 Kanzhe requires: [netconfig]
04:08 Kanzhe The above dependency didn't trigger the task.

11:20 devvesa Hi all. I'm experiencing the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1471085
11:20 devvesa In Fuel 6.1
11:20 devvesa I know is a misconfiguration in my environment... but is there a workaround to know what's wrong?

14:37 sc-rm Hi, I’m running fuel 7.0 and testing it for our secondary setup. When uploading images the controllers get low on disc space, and does not free it up again, why is that, when using ceph as storage backend?
14:38 sc-rm if there is some process for freeing up space, where do I trigger it?
14:44 javeriak joined #fuel
14:46 admin0 joined #fuel
14:57 mwhahaha how are you uploading the images? and which partition is being filled?
15:05 sc-rm mwhahaha: I’m uploading through horizon and it’s the / partition
15:05 neophy joined #fuel
15:05 mwhahaha yea so via horizon you're limited to being able to upload a file smaller than the / parition
15:06 mwhahaha if you attempt to upload an image with size > than the / partition, it fills it's disk and never gets cleaned up
15:06 mwhahaha you'd have to manually cleanup the stuck files in /
15:06 mwhahaha it's better not to use horizon for large image uploads because horizon has to capture the file and then call the glance command to upload it
15:06 mwhahaha I don't think you have this problem if you use the glance command directly
15:07 sc-rm mwhahaha: ahe, so it’s horizon not cleaning up, the disk never got full, but just close to
15:07 sc-rm mwhahaha: I’ll try with glance directly tomorrow and see how it goes
15:08 mwhahaha with 8.0 we're moving to a dedicated partition for horizon uploads to prevent this issue :)
15:10 sc-rm mwhahaha: sounds really nice :-) No issue for me if I have to upload through glance, just need to know that I have to do it like that :-)
15:16 sc-rm mwhahaha: Thanks for the insight :-)
15:16 mwhahaha no problem, let me know if you run into issues with the glance method

15:27 bildz mwhahaha: i'd like to file a bug report for the server that is failing provisioning.  How do I capture the logs, when the server is rebooted?
15:28 bildz keep in mind that it's booted off a pxe image
15:28 mwhahaha the logs get shipped to the fuel master and should be rolled up with a diagnostic snapshot
15:28 bildz under /var/log?
15:29 bildz ah var/log/remote/node-20.5c.local/bootstrap
15:31 mwhahaha yea

15:42 anddrew hello guys! Is there any way to make the admin_url routable? I'm trying to connect to keystone endpoints from a plugin that uses the admin.url.
15:44 vsedelni_ joined #fuel
15:45 anddrew So all the services are connected to the vip, witch is a private ip. Also, does haproxy have a default gateway, or it's like a bridge?
15:58 Zer0Byte__ joined #fuel
15:58 Zer0Byte__ :)
15:58 Zer0Byte__ hey
16:03 mwhahaha anddrew: which url?
16:04 Zer0Byte__ hey mwhahaha how are you?
16:04 mwhahaha Zer0Byte__: hey what's up?
16:04 Zer0Byte__ cool
16:04 Zer0Byte__ still testing fuel :P
16:04 Zer0Byte__ where i can report a bug to be fixed on fuel?
16:05 mwhahaha https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel/How_to_contribute#Test_and_report_bugs
16:05 xarses_ Zer0Byte__: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+filebug
16:05 anddrew mwhahaha: for compute, volume, metring
16:05 Zer0Byte__ its on heat
16:05 Zer0Byte__ its already fixed for Openstack kilo
16:05 anddrew this plugins tries to connect via the admin_url, not public_url
16:06 claflico joined #fuel
16:06 mwhahaha which plugin? is it your own or someone elses?
16:06 anddrew it's a whmcs plugin
16:07 anddrew not mine
16:07 xarses anddrew: it's considered best practice to host the admin_url's on a network isolated from public URL's as such, the admin, and internal URL's are on the cluster's management network
16:08 xarses you would either need to be able to route to the management network from your whmcs plugin, or you would have to re-configure haproxy, and then update the endpoints data in the keystone api
16:08 anddrew well..i read that is safer this way, but is there any workaround?
16:08 mwhahaha probably depends on the workaround where is it getting executed from that it doesn't have access to the admin url?
16:10 anddrew the plugin is instaled on a remote server, the server connects with keystone, the keystone endpoints are received, ant then the server tryes to get to the private ip
16:10 anddrew nd of course..it can't
16:11 mwhahaha sounds like the remote server needs to be on the admin network :D  I mean you could setup some sort of tunneling or something but that's not something that's fuel specific
16:11 anddrew so...a tunneling should resolve this issue
16:15 anddrew and if i want to change the ip from a private one to a public one...what should i change? besides the config files for all nova, glance, rabbit, etc ..
16:22 mwhahaha it's probably pulling it from the service catalog, so you could probably just update it. But to be honest it sounds like the fix should be to your plugin you're using rather than your cloud
16:26 xarses anddrew: to re-iterate mwhahaha you can a) run the plugin from within the management network b) create some routing to said private network (this depends on your network setup) c) reconfigure haproxy to host those ports on the public vip AND update keystone endpoints api

16:34 Zer0Byte__ know how to test heat
16:34 Zer0Byte__ without redeploy a virtual machine?
16:37 mwhahaha i don't. i'm pretty sure there's a basic test in the health check part of fuel that'll do some testing
16:37 mwhahaha depends on what you're trying to test i guess
16:37 Zer0Byte__ the scripts on windows
16:37 Zer0Byte__ ;(

22:37 intr1nsic Is there a good way to run a dry-run puppet action on a compute node?
22:41 kaliya joined #fuel
22:48 vsedelnik joined #fuel
22:49 mwhahaha intr1nsic: you can use --noop with puppet to prevent it from actually making changes
22:49 mwhahaha but if you're asking if there is a good way to do a fuel deployment action with noop, no you'd have to run the puppet manually with --noop
22:50 intr1nsic The latter.  Say to verify that what fuel said it did still matches
22:51 mwhahaha if you know what puppet task you can rerun it with noop
22:51 mwhahaha for example puppet apply /etc/puppet/modules/osnailyfacter/modules/roles/compute.pp --noop
22:51 intr1nsic Ah, thanks.  Will try in the lab
22:53 mwhahaha that also checks the idempotency of the task as well, it should be noted that there are a bunch of tasks which aren't idempotent and we're working it
22:54 intr1nsic In efforts to be less vague, converting ceph-osd nodes to also being compute nodes

23:22 Verilium Does anyone know if ironic is still planned for Fuel 8.0?
23:22 Verilium Bumped into a few mentions of it for 8.0, but not quite sure if it's something really solid.
23:25 Verilium ...and I saw Mirantis had a job opening for an Ironic Tech Lead/Architect a few days ago that seems gone now, heh.
