08:41 fxpester what is the best way to play with MOS on a sinlge machine ? what is the minimum resource reqs ?
08:44 bpiotrowski fxpester: we have fancy virtualbox scripts that can help you with that
08:44 bpiotrowski https://github.com/openstack/fuel-main/tree/stable/7.0/virtualbox
08:45 bpiotrowski 8GB of RAM is sane assumption

08:49 bpiotrowski I used it on both Mac and Linux, and I'm sure it's supposed to work on Windows as well.

09:21 eren however, the services are not started
09:21 eren I don't see anything in "docker ps"
09:22 bpiotrowski eren: try 'dockerctl build all'

09:24 eren k doing it
09:25 eren bpiotrowski: I was issueing "fuelmenu" again and again though
09:26 eren ah I see, after extracting docker images, it stuck on "mounting /dev/mapper/xx with options"

17:52 focus_ Can some point point me to the documentation for adding an openstack release to Fuel version 7.0
17:52 focus_ I can deploy Kilo, but I'd like to deploy Juno as well

18:03 focus_ how vsedelnik

18:09 mwhahaha focus_: I'm not sure it's that easy
18:25 breton left #fuel
18:30 focus_ mwhahaha - I guess I misunderstood then . Are fuel version tied to specific openstack versions
18:31 mwhahaha currently yes
18:31 mwhahaha 6.1 would be juno
18:31 mwhahaha 7.0 is kilo
18:31 mwhahaha while we do have some support for releases, it's not a straight forward thing
18:33 focus_ So just adding the puppet modules for 6.1 for example , will not enable me to dpeloy multiple releases. There is a good bit more work to handle that
18:34 mwhahaha You'd have add the modules, add the release into nailgun, update the repositories with the correct versions
18:34 mwhahaha i'm not saying you can't get it to work, it's just not a straight forward thing
18:34 mwhahaha the 'fuel rel' command would be used to get all the items together
18:34 mwhahaha you'd need to add the release in, and update the tasks based on the puppet modules
18:36 focus_ Is their documentation somewhere on this process
18:37 mwhahaha not really which is why I said it' snot very straight forward :D
18:37 focus_ hahahah fair enough :)
18:37 e0ne joined #fuel
18:37 focus_ I am happy to learn, but trying to decide if it is worth poking around in th dark
18:37 focus_ since I am new to fuel
18:38 focus_ ahh but I am seeing how it comes together
18:38 focus_ I think
18:38 mwhahaha going forward as we've started to leverage the upstream modules more it'll be easier to do what you're looking for
18:38 mwhahaha like in 8 and 9
18:38 focus_ add puppet modules into /etc/puppet/[version number]. Then update the nailgun/versions.yaml
18:38 focus_ update the repositories .. can you provide me more info on that one
18:38 mwhahaha for the environment
18:38 mwhahaha you'd need to use 6.1 versions of the MOS repos
18:39 focus_ Ah gotcha ok
18:39 focus_ these words will strike me down later , but this doesn't seem to bad
18:39 focus_ lol
18:39 kaliya joined #fuel
18:39 mwhahaha it's not too bad in theory, it's just not well documented
18:39 focus_ Have I mentioned I have never worked with puppet before either :)
18:39 mwhahaha eh that's not that imporant for this one
18:40 mwhahaha so in theory if you went and grabbed an old version of the fuel-library rpm and extracted it out, it would provide your puppet modules
18:40 mwhahaha then you'd need to get the release into the db which I think you might be able to do via the nailgun api or via the fuel command
18:40 mwhahaha after you have the release you would do a sync to get the tasks into the release
18:40 focus_ interesting.. could I manually just add it to mysql?
18:40 mwhahaha which is in the documentation for the 'fuel rel' command (see fuel rel --help)
18:41 mwhahaha I'm pretty sure there's a way to do it without having to add the data in
18:41 mwhahaha since for upgrades from 6.1 to 7 we support adding a release
18:41 mwhahaha let me go see if i can find the command somewhere
18:41 focus_ hey don't use to much of your time on it - I am just now sorting out I build the puppet modules :)
18:42 mwhahaha i would just grab the 6.1 version of fuel-library
18:42 focus_ thats what I have
18:42 mwhahaha (the rpm) and rpm2cpio <package> | cpio -idmv
18:42 angdraug joined #fuel
18:42 mwhahaha and move them in place
18:42 focus_ oh i didn't realize there was an rpm
18:43 mwhahaha https://github.com/openstack/fuel-web/blob/stable/7.0/fuel_upgrade_system/fuel_upgrade/fuel_upgrade/clients/nailgun_client.py#L54-L65
18:43 mwhahaha so there's a way via the api to push a new release into the system
18:44 focus_ ghmm getting 404 on that .. odd
18:44 focus_ et me just nav to it
18:45 focus_ ok there go - that makes sense. Simple enough on that one.
18:46 mwhahaha I think the 6.1 repos are in http://mirror.fuel-infra.org/mos/
18:46 focus_ ahh cool have never seen rpm2cpio
18:47 mwhahaha it's a quick way to get the files out of an rpm
18:47 focus_ aye nice to know
18:47 mwhahaha if you check the post scripts on the rpm it might actually create the releases in it
18:48 mwhahaha rpm -qp --scripts <rpm>
18:49 mwhahaha the newer ones don't create the release but it does have the folder stucture
18:49 mwhahaha so you'd end up putting the modules in like /etc/puppet/<some release number>
18:49 mwhahaha and you'd use that as part of the release information
18:49 focus_ aye - got that part in place now
18:49 focus_ so I have the modules in place, updating the version file now
18:50 vsedelnik joined #fuel
18:50 mwhahaha you may want to create a centos release and an ubuntu release unless you only care about one or the other
18:51 focus_ today I don't care so much
18:51 focus_ does the nailgun rpm come with the version.yaml file already baked in, do you know?
18:51 mwhahaha yea
18:52 mwhahaha er maybe not
18:52 focus_ hmm, yeah was just seeing that
18:53 focus_ maybe genned by a script?
18:53 mwhahaha it ships an openstack.yaml which i think is used to generate it all
18:53 mwhahaha in /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/nailgun/fixtures/openstack.yaml
18:53 mwhahaha it'd have all the release info if you grabbed the 6.1 version
18:56 focus_ hmm , let me see here - looks like some things are genned like the sha's
18:56 focus_ 6.1 also used docker I presume
18:57 vsedelnik joined #fuel
19:02 intr1nsic joined #fuel
19:03 focus_ wonder if the version.yaml would ship with the iso .. probably not .. because it probably builds those sha's on the fily
19:03 focus_ fly even
19:05 focus_ Nm - its on the iso I can just grab it from there
19:14 xarses joined #fuel
19:15 xarses joined #fuel
19:22 admin0 left #fuel
19:25 mwhahaha yea the version.yaml gets built with the iso
19:25 mwhahaha we're in the process of figuring out an alternative for it in the future
19:30 claflico joined #fuel
19:33 focus_ ok I'll hav eto stop for now - but last thing to do is create the release
19:53 focus_ bah appears to be a glance bug with adding images?
19:53 mwhahaha maybe?
19:53 mwhahaha what's the error
19:54 focus_ sitting at queued   :(
19:54 focus_ googled it .. looks like their is a bug with it
19:55 mwhahaha hmm haven't seen that one
19:56 focus_ https://bugs.launchpad.net/horizon/+bug/1451429
19:58 kaliya joined #fuel
19:58 mwhahaha oh horizon bug
19:58 mwhahaha yea i've run into a few issues with horizon and glance
20:03 focus_ aye - so I was just looking through the upgrade stuff, I think I can essentially hack the fuel-upgrade to "upgrade" me to 6.1 while leaving all the important pieces in place for 7
