09:42 hyperbaba Hello, i have a rather strange problem with 5.1.1 production deployment with ceph used for all storage types. When storing objects to radosgw using swift api the speed is near wire speed which is ok, but when pooling object from radosgw speed is 10 time slower. I've checked connectivity from the instances and there is no problem with speeds inbound or outbound. Can anyone point me where to look for the source of the problem (i have 3 controllers
09:42 hyperbaba deployed with neutron with gre)

10:23 kelepirci hello again
10:24 kelepirci I want to install openstack base system on a USB drive on compute nodes.
10:25 kelepirci I think nailgun and mcollective ignoring removable devices
10:26 kelepirci is there anyway to allow nailgun to discover usb drives as nornal disk drives?

11:04 aglarendil Hi, kelepirci
11:04 aglarendil I guess, you could give it a try by hacking nailgun-agent
11:04 aglarendil there is a piece of code skipping removable devices
11:04 aglarendil neouf: dcs what's up?
11:08 dcs i do deploy mos-8.0 from usb-stick but have error with ks.cfg not found, anybody can help me?
11:08 kelepirci thank you aglarendil
11:09 kelepirci I will try that  but I could not find the cod of nailgun-agent
11:09 kelepirci can you show me the location of nailgun-agent's code
11:10 kelepirci and also is that mean I need to compile fuel from scratch
11:12 aglarendil kelepirci: which release do you use?
11:12 xek joined #fuel
11:12 aglarendil since 8.0 the code is here https://github.com/openstack/fuel-nailgun-agent
11:12 aglarendil prior to 8.0 the code will be in fuel-web repo
11:12 aglarendil agent itself is in bin/agent directory
11:17 aglarendil kelepirci: installation onto removable drives is a rather non-common case, so we do not support it right now, but you could file a bug with tag 'feature' (as it is rather small) to support installation onto USB drives and we will address it either in M or in N release

20:01 Wida Hello! I try to configure fuel8.0 but I have problems with configure networks tab: "New IP ranges for Admin networks conflict with bootstrap nodes' IPs."
20:02 Wida what does it mean?
20:03 Wida what is "Admin networks" ?
20:05 elopez joined #fuel
20:10 angdraug rmoe: ^
20:20 mwhahaha admin network is fuel admin network
20:21 mwhahaha so you have some overlap between the network ranges you're using
20:43 Wida mwhahaha, where I can check "fuel admin network" ?
20:43 mwhahaha it's the network you configured for the fuel master
20:43 Wida in fuelmenu?
20:43 mwhahaha yea
20:45 Wida fuel admin network should be in different range than PXE network?
20:45 mwhahaha no
20:46 mwhahaha what network were you trying to configure when you ran into your error message?
20:46 mwhahaha or were you setting up ironic?
20:46 Wida I try configure networks tab in new env in fuel web
20:46 mwhahaha which networks
20:47 Wida and my env with ironic
20:47 mwhahaha so there's a pxe network for ironic which should be different then the fuel admin network
20:50 Wida my Baremetal CIDR is 192.168.3.0/24; and Fuel admin network is 10.31.0.0/24
20:50 Wida and I have error
20:56 mwhahaha can you give a screenshot of all the networks you're configuring in the UI that's leading to this error? I'll try and reproduce as well but it'll take some time
20:57 Wida ok, I do a screenshots now
20:58 Razva joined #fuel
20:58 Razva hey! Failed to start Fuel UI. Nailgun is not available. < any hints?
20:58 Razva using the virtualbox startup script, this happens every time I reboot the fuel node.
20:59 mwhahaha Razva: give the master node some time to settle, for older versions of fuel it reruns puppet on boot so it may take ~10 minutes depending on hardware to come  up completely
20:59 mwhahaha you can use 'dockerctl check' to see if everything is up and ready
20:59 angdraug joined #fuel
20:59 Razva mwhahaha aha, yup, thanks!
21:00 Razva Unable to log in
21:00 Razva baaaah
21:00 Razva isn't admin/admin the default user/pass?
21:00 mwhahaha it is, that also relies on the keystone container being up as well (takes time)
21:01 Razva ok so I'll give it 10
21:01 Razva meanwhile do you have any idea if Swift is - somehow - integrated with Mirantis?
21:02 Razva because I'm digging in and I cannot really find anything regarding Swift, just Ceph
21:02 mwhahaha swift is installed in a basic form for use with glance i beleive
21:02 mwhahaha but there isn't anything special to configure or deploy swift in a more complex fashion
21:03 mwhahaha there might be a plugin somewhere that might enable deploying swift differently but nothing official
21:08 Wida mwhahaha, http://imger.ru/jpeg/20160301l4H7ih9oRE1TPpF9_VAVQv/
21:10 mwhahaha i don't think you can overlap the two baremetal settings
21:11 Razva next q: do I need THREE or two nics on all machines? the documentation doesn't really specifies...
21:11 mwhahaha at least 2
21:11 mwhahaha depends on your network configuration method
21:11 Razva for Neutron
21:11 Razva neutron + vlan
21:11 Razva (no GRE)
21:12 Razva I have VLAN segmentation, if required
21:12 mwhahaha it would be required
21:12 Razva great
21:13 Razva so, do I need 2 or 3 nics? asking that because the virtualbox "demo" has 3 nics, but one is unused on all servers
21:13 Razva so I was wondering...why 3?
21:13 mwhahaha so it depends on how you tag (or don't) your networks
21:14 Razva https://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-7.0/reference-architecture.html#neutron-vlan-ovs-arch
21:14 Wida I use 2 nic
21:14 Razva soooo in this config only the controller has 3 nics, right>?
21:14 Razva no, it has 4?! oh come on...
21:15 mwhahaha https://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-8.0/fuel-install-guide.html#sysreqs-network-reqs
21:16 Razva "If you select Neutron with VLAN segmentation, you must have at least 3 network interfaces (NICs)."
21:17 Wida mwhahaha, what do you think, how I can fix my problem?
21:17 mwhahaha Wida: not sure i'm not a baremetal expert but i think you need a different range for the two different baremetal settings. I was trying to find something in the documentation around those network configurations
21:18 Razva mwhahaha do I need to configure the VLANs, or does Fuel need to configure them?
21:19 Wida If I try to write different network range in two baremetal settings, I have this error: "IP address does not match the network CIDR"
21:20 Razva Wida what IPs?
21:20 mwhahaha ha of course. ok let me dig a little deeper
21:21 Razva mwhahaha who did you replied to? :)
21:21 mwhahaha that was to wido
21:21 mwhahaha Razva: you'd need to do the switch configurations
21:22 Razva mwhahaha great, that's fine by me. do you know any good tutorial "for newbs" like...what nic should be connected where etc etc?
21:23 mwhahaha that install guide has a decent write up on that
21:23 mwhahaha it's really up to you
21:23 Wida mwhahaha, thx, I hope for your help
21:25 mwhahaha Wida: so that screenshot seems to have the defaults in it
21:25 mwhahaha how did you get that error to come up?
21:26 Wida in this screenshot I press "Save" button and have this error
21:26 Razva mwhahaha any idea who can offer me consultancy at a "startup budget"?
21:26 mwhahaha Wida: but what did you save? because if you don't change anything the save button is disabled for me
21:27 Wida I change a lot: Public range, storage, managment and floating ip range
21:27 Wida I don't change baremetal range
21:28 mwhahaha oh i see the public range was changed
21:28 mwhahaha hmm yea i don't get that error which is odd
21:33 mwhahaha Wida: do you only have one environment on this fuel master or do you have multiple?
21:33 Wida only 1
21:33 Wida this is fresh install of fuel
21:38 mwhahaha @rmoe any idea thoughts on Wida's network configuration issues?
21:38 Wida Maybe this is my case?: "Limitation for an OpenStack environment with Ironic: Management
21:38 Wida Auto-discovery is not supported."
21:38 rmoe mwhahaha: reading backlog now
21:39 mwhahaha no you're hitting some validation code but i don't know enough about it to say why
21:44 Wida so I delete env with ironic, and create new env without ironic and have the some error
21:53 rmoe Wida: how many nodes do you have?
21:53 Wida 13
22:00 rmoe could you show me the output of the 'fuel node' command?
22:03 Wida a little bit late, I shutdown this fuel and start install new fuel in new vm
22:28 mwik Trying out MOS 8.0 and came across Neutron Advanced Configuration, Neutron DVR and Neutrn L3 HA. They are mutually exclusive. Whats the difference between DVR and L3 HA? If I choose L3 HA, wont the compute nodes route floating ips themselves?
22:30 mwik And do I have to "Assign public network to all nodes" for DVR to work? Or why should one assign public network to all nodes?

23:17 bkosick Hi All,  Just downloaded fuel 8 from mirantis, and am having some issues with it.   My network is all VLANs, even for fuel itself.   This worked perfectly in 7.0 I could disable eth0 in fuelmenu and choose eth0.X for my interface
23:18 bkosick in 8 fuel menu gives me no such interface eth0.   I need to use --iface=eth0.X.   but even with that it only shows me the physical interfaces and .X might as well not exist.
23:19 bkosick any ideas why I am unable to use eth0.X for the interface?
23:19 bkosick symptoms include unable to PXE, and various other issues.
23:30 mwhahaha with the the update to 8.0 we now use the predictable network interface names
23:30 mwhahaha so there is no more eth0
23:34 bkosick hrrm eth0 is the default interface that shows up on a fresh install of the fuel8 iso for me
23:36 neouf joined #fuel
23:44 neouf joined #fuel
23:47 mwhahaha so it might show up for the fuel master but it won't for the slave nodes
23:48 mwhahaha hmm i don't, i've got enp0s3
