07:07 cartik hi im trying to understand the nodegroup concept in fuel
07:08 cartik if i can configure all (admin, public, management, storage)
07:09 cartik where will horizon be
07:10 cartik if all controllers will be part of one nodegroup
07:11 cartik im bit confused on whats the purpose of having one more public segment for second node group
07:11 cartik can someone explain pls.

07:36 HeOS joined #fuel
07:37 kozhukalov cartik probably nodegroup is related to multirack deployment
07:38 kozhukalov maybe it is when you deploy your cluster over several data centers

07:43 sc-rm Now that fuel 8.0 has been released, will it be possible to upgrade from 7.0 and also upgrade the deployed open stack to the new release through fuel?
07:46 book` joined #fuel
07:49 kozhukalov metsuke: I am not sure, likely does not. BTW, does nova require some specific configuration except 'compute_driver=nclxd.nova.virt.lxd.LXDDriver' to support lxd? As far as I can see MOS repo provides packages only for ironic, kvm, lxc and qemu

07:51 kozhukalov metsuke: please contact mirantis to figure this out. anyway you can create launchpad  blueprint to implement this feature in Fuel (lxd)    https://blueprints.launchpad.net/fuel
07:52 kozhukalov sc-rm: yes, upgrade procedure (script and documentation) is going to be available a little bit later
07:53 sc-rm kozhukalov: That sounds really nice :-D
07:53 kozhukalov ogelbukh: could you please clarify about when it is planned to release upgrade script ?

18:20 dhellmann hey, folks, does anyone know when angdraug is usually online?
18:21 dhellmann bookwar: I see you've done some tags on python-fuelclient in the past, are you around?

18:22 dhellmann mwhahaha : great, thanks
18:22 angdraug dhellmann: you were looking for me?
18:23 dhellmann angdraug : yes, we're looking at final releases for the cycle and noticed that python-fuelclient hasn't had a release at all. Since it's listed as release:cycle-with-intermediary, we need to process a release this week. Were you planning to submit the request for that, or handle it yourself?
18:24 dhellmann we need a release before we freeze requirements at the end of this week, if you're going to do one for mitaka
18:24 angdraug we were going to do it ourselves
18:25 dhellmann angdraug : keep in mind that you need to update the constraints file, too, and that will be frozen at the end of the week
18:25 angdraug thanks

18:38 jcook_ Is LBaaS dead?  I was disappointed to not see LBaaSv2 with Octavia in 8.0
18:40 angdraug jcook_: looks dead to me: http://stackalytics.com/report/driverlog?project_id=openstack%2Ffuel
18:40 angdraug the plugin hasn't been updated in a while and has no ci :(
18:41 jcook_ load balancing is kind of a big deal
18:43 jcook_ autoscaling nodes and adding them into a lb pool is something people want in a cloud solution
18:54 bkosick joined #fuel
18:57 angdraug jcook_: would you by any chance consider taking over that plugin?
19:01 skamithi13 joined #fuel
19:02 jcook_ I would assume a new one would need to be built from the ground up to support LBaaSv2
19:12 dhellmann bookwar : ack, if I don't respond here come to #openstack-release (I monitor that more closely)
19:15 Wida joined #fuel
19:16 angdraug jcook_: is there a reason to maintain both versions in parallel, especially considering that the old one is effectively unmaintained?
19:16 jcook_ I wouldn't think so.
19:17 mwhahaha i thought there was a note on the mailing list about how v1 and v2 can't be run at the same time anyway
19:17 angdraug so I think it would make sense to take over the current plugin and rewrite it for LBaaSv2
19:17 angdraug I strongly suspect sbog wouldn't object handing over the current version
19:18 angdraug if there is someone willing to move this forward
19:19 jcook_ I'm taking a look at the plugin now.

20:25 xarses and I think no one is active with it
20:25 xarses if you wanted to pick it up, everyone would be happy
20:26 xarses jcook_: ya, the metadata in master is still pointing to fuel 6.1
20:26 xarses its not being maintained
20:27 xarses https://github.com/openstack/fuel-plugin-neutron-lbaas/blob/master/metadata.yaml#L5
20:34 krypto joined #fuel
20:36 jcook_ xarses: Looks like the MOS apt repos have packages for neutron-lbaasv2-agent.  If it all works, it shouldn't be a big deal to get a plugin working.
20:37 xarses jcook_: ya, all of the in-tree packages are supposed to be built for exactly this kind of reason
20:37 xarses If there is something missing, we can add it to the build spec
20:37 jcook_ cool.  I'm going to work on this and see what comes out of it.
20:39 xarses let us know if you need any help, one thing I'd point out is you likely want to use the newer deployment_tasks.yaml instead of the older tasks.yaml parser which is more restrictive

21:15 krypto any idea about this error? "Error: Could not find data item nodes in any Hiera data file and no default supplied at /etc/puppet/modules/osnailyfacter/modular/hosts/hosts.pp:4 on node"
21:15 krypto i am trying to add new nodes and its failing on old nodes
21:15 krypto new nodes ieverything is working
21:17 krypto if i manually run hosts.pp its failing on old node with above error but on new nodes its working fine
21:17 krypto any idea?
21:20 mwhahaha it's looking for the network_metadata from hiera
21:21 mwhahaha so are all the hiera files in place? in /etc/hiera/ there should be some yaml files
21:21 krypto mwhahaha "hiera management_vip " is working
21:21 mwhahaha what about hiera network_metadata
21:22 krypto nil
21:22 mwhahaha that's be a problem
21:22 mwhahaha so is this an upgrade or something?
21:22 krypto in new nodes also its nil
21:24 mwhahaha does /etc/hiera/astute.yaml exist?
21:24 krypto no its not an upgrade..just adding new nodes
21:24 krypto yes its there
21:24 mwhahaha what does your /etc/hiera.yaml look like?
21:30 krypto its same in both nodes
21:33 krypto mwhahaha
21:34 mwhahaha there should be a network_metadata entry in the astute.yaml

22:01 neophy The Fuel Master VM screen shows: There is no active bootstrap. Bootstrap image building is in progress. Usually it takes 15-20 mins.
22:01 neophy It was with step around more then 30 mins
22:02 neophy Any thought?
22:05 krypto mwhahaha its not there :(
22:05 mwhahaha neophy: it depends on how faster your internet/hardware it may take longer. you can check the bootstrap image creation logs in /var/log
22:05 mwhahaha krypto: not at all?
22:11 krypto mwhahaha : no searched for "network_metadata "in /etc/hiera/astute.yaml but couldnt find anything

22:24 krypto both servers are giving response for that;do i need to check for differnce in response?
22:26 mwhahaha no i'm not quite sure what's going on. since the data is being returned it shouldn't error. you could try running it by hand to debug

22:40 bookwar xarses: ^^
22:40 mwhahaha krypto: I said you could try running it manually to try and debug it
22:40 mwhahaha puppet apply /etc/puppet/modules/osnailyfacter/modular/hosts/hosts.pp
22:41 mwhahaha The error seems to be related to a puppet configuration of some sort but i'm not sure what's wrong
22:41 krypto i already tried that http://paste.ubuntu.com/

23:27 mwhahaha krypto: so that output seems to show that the hiera configuration is either wrong or broken on the old node
23:27 mwhahaha you're sure /etc/hiera.yaml is the same between both nodes?
23:27 mwhahaha also check puppet versions
23:32 krypto mwhahaha i tried to copy /etc/hiera from working node to old node still result is same
23:33 krypto yes  /etc/hiera.yaml is same between nodes and puppet version is also same
23:33 mwhahaha You don't want to do that because the astute.yaml is node specific, what you can do is rerun the hiera task
23:33 mwhahaha and the globals task
23:34 mwhahaha puppet apply /etc/puppet/modules/osnailyfacter/modular/hiera/hiera.pp
23:35 mwhahaha puppet apply /etc/puppet/modules/osnailyfacter/modular/globals/globals.pp
