00:37 jt708u is anyone here real familiar with fuel plugin development?
00:38 jt708u based on the deployment task of this example plugin,  https://github.com/openstack/fuel-plugins/blob/master/examples/fuel_plugin_example_v4/deployment_tasks.yaml#L16
00:39 xarses joined #fuel
00:39 jt708u i should see it create a /tmp/fuel-plugin-exxample-v4-puppet file on the controller, right?
00:39 jt708u when i add node , choose the example-plugin-v4 role, assigned it to a new node.     that node comes up fine and the tmp file is created on that particular node just fine.
00:39 jt708u however, if i undersatnd correctly, the controller node should also get refreshed based on that deployment task ?

01:50 cr0wrx is there a way in fuel no rerun the first fuelmenu and get a fresh experience? I'm not sure if the first round was done right, I reran fuelmenu and dockerctl destroy all / dockerctl build all, but it's stuck waiting on first container
01:51 fatdragon joined #fuel
01:51 cr0wrx I've reinstalled from disk a couple times (this is not a VM, so it's not the fastest process to start from scratch)

09:18 kozhukalov cr0wrx, it is not necessary to reinstall master node from scratch, to re-deploy it, just run /usr/sbin/bootstrap_admin_node.sh (fuelmenu is run from this script) https://github.com/openstack/fuel-main/blob/stable/8.0/iso/bootstrap_admin_node.sh#L201-L231
09:19 kozhukalov first it saves default configuration, and then runs fuelmenu if showmenu variable is 'yes'
09:20 kozhukalov by default it is 'no' https://github.com/openstack/fuel-main/blob/stable/8.0/iso/bootstrap_admin_node.sh#L178
09:21 kozhukalov ikalnitsky: evgenyl could you please comment the question jt708u asked about example plugin? ^^
09:26 evgenyl jt708u you are correct, but if you add plugin *after* controllers are deployed, deployment of controllers will not be run automatically, CLI has to be used to redeploy controllers.

13:52 kozhukalov reddy: probably yottatsa could help ^^
13:53 reddy yottatsa: can you help me on this issue . is it possible to setup my own DHCP server on top of openstack ?
13:54 kozhukalov reddy: you also can try to the answer here https://ask.openstack.org/en/questions/
13:54 kozhukalov probabrly someone else had the same question
13:57 yottatsa reddy if you are running DHCP server in instance, it will conflict with OpenStack Neutron DHCP. (mostly because dnsmasq that used behind the scenes set in non-authoritative mode).
13:58 yottatsa reddy First of all you need to disable DHCP in your subnet. Next, you should allow ingress DHCP traffic to your new DHCP with security groups.
13:58 yottatsa reddy and last, I need to check up that security groups didn't block access to non-openstack DHCP
13:59 reddy yottatsa: i disabled dhcp and also enabled all ports in security groups

14:00 reddy in fuel do we have any iptables rules to block other traffic other than inbuilt dhcp server requests ?
14:02 yottatsa reddy in fuel -- no.
14:03 yottatsa reddy I'm searching for lab to check neutron firewall for you
14:04 reddy Thanks a lot yottatsa
14:04 reddy i am using fuel8.0/liberty

15:22 yottatsa reddy I'm working on your issue
15:30 yottatsa reddy there at least two rules "Prevent DHCP Spoofing by VM" and "Allow traffic from defined IP/MAC pairs" that prevents you from it.
16:21 Captain_Murdoch reddy, are you trying to run your own dhcp server?
16:22 Captain_Murdoch we just went through that and have it working.  We are running a fuel-based Liberty lab environment and starting to deploy fuel based labs on top of it.
16:24 Captain_Murdoch we had to turn off port security on the dhcp server.  There is an iptables rule that is inserted that blocks a VM from responding to dhcp requests when port security is turned on.
16:24 Captain_Murdoch the spoofing rule is the one yottatsa mentioned

20:43 MikeWard Hi There, I've been trying to install mirantis in a HP blade chassis, behind a proxy and it's been an interesting ride... I have successfully deployed fuel and discovered the four spare blades in my chassis. I'm a bit stuck right now though because I tried to remove my environment to start again and the delete environment hung
20:59 MikeWard joined #fuel
21:04 xarses MikeWard: are you deleting the env or did you use the reset function?
21:04 xarses (not that it should matter)
21:05 MikeWard I attempted to delete the environment -it's not been deployed yet
21:05 MikeWard [root@fuel ~]# fuel environment list id | status | name        | release_id | pending_release_id ---|--------|-------------|------------|------------------- 4  | new    | sysopstack  | 2          | None               3  | error  | sysop-stack | 2          | None
21:07 MikeWard it still has nodes allocated to it that i can't import into the new one
21:09 mwhahaha can you force it?
21:09 mwhahaha fuel --env 1 env --force delete
21:10 mwhahaha you can also force delete nodes if they are offline, fuel node --node-id 1 --delete-from-db --force
21:13 MikeWard i just tried it - 400 Client Error: Bad Request (Environment removal already started)
21:14 MikeWard i'll try the node delete now
21:18 MikeWard I powered one off but it's still showing online
21:22 MikeWard it worked actually thanks!
21:26 mwhahaha so if the node was hung the delete hangs too
21:26 mwhahaha that might have been the problem
21:41 MikeWard i've successfully removed all the nodes from the old environment but it's still there greyed out (i can't select it) and i also can't allocate the nodes in the new env - would i need to pxe boot them again?

22:53 ubuntu_ hey all.  i installed the https://github.com/openstack/fuel-plugins/tree/master/examples/fuel_plugin_example_v4 , and deployed a node with that role.  It works however when it comes up that node doesn't have the network interfaces configured like the other fuel nodes (controller and compute).
22:53 ubuntu_ what do i need to put in the deployment_task task list to get the node with that role to come up with similiar interfaces

23:32 Guest2568 How can I upgrade fuel from 7.0 to 8.0, I cannot fount the updates package in the official site
23:46 mwhahaha ubuntu_: needs to require netconfig
23:46 mwhahaha ubuntu_: and hiera and a few others, you need the basics for it but netconfig is the one that actually does the interface configurations
23:47 mwhahaha Guest2568: I'm not sure if the 7->8 upgrade is ready yet, ogelbukh might be able to provide some additional info
23:49 Guest2568 mwhahaha: Thanks.
23:50 mwhahaha ubuntu_: I think you might need: hiera, fuel_pkgs, globals, tools, logging, netconfig, hosts (and maybe firewall)
23:51 ubuntu_ mwhahaha, hmm yes i have netconfig in the task
23:51 mwhahaha ubuntu_: an example of a plugin with a standalone role, https://github.com/openstack/fuel-plugin-detach-keystone/
23:51 Guest2568 Another question: Why I cannot find restore option in octane, octane version: fuel-octane-7.0.0-1053.1.git965205e.noarch
23:51 ubuntu_ strange
23:53 mwhahaha Guest2568: i see a reference to a fuel-restore, is that what you are talking about?
23:55 Guest2568 Yes
23:56 Guest2568 Application commands (type help <topic>): ========================================= backup        prepare              sync-networks           upgrade-env cleanup       revert-prepare       update-plugin-settings  upgrade-node complete      rollback-control     upgrade-ceph help          sync-images          upgrade-control install-node  sync-images-prepare  upgrade-db
23:57 Guest2568 Here is my application command list. fuel-restore is missing.
23:57 mwhahaha no idea, i've not played with octane much
23:58 Guest2568 Okay. Thanks at all/
