09:33 Kdecherf another question, regarding ceph, how does the deployment work when ceph nodes have several disks?
09:34 Kdecherf is there an easy way to define custom distribution of ceph journal and system?
09:45 reddydodda joined #fuel
09:55 ogelbukh Kdecherf: you can configure storage drives from UI

11:10 reddydodda Hi .. I am using Fuel8.0 and added zabbix plugin to it. my environment is HA . i configured Device option ( SMTP server ip ) is Zabbix to send email notification
11:11 reddydodda but not of the emails are reaching the SMTP server Q .can some one help me , in knowing if there is any firewall ( iptables ) on controler node which blocks this

13:49 Kdecherf another question: is there a way (with ui or cli) to use a software raid for base system partition?
13:52 krobzaur joined #fuel
14:00 mwhahaha Kdecherf: i think you can, we appear to have a way to exclude some items from raid. i thought it was available via the UI
14:00 mwhahaha and if it's available via the UI there's a way in the cli to do it to
14:02 Kdecherf hm, i don't see anything related to raid on the ui

15:02 Kdecherf is there a cleaner way to edit openstack.yaml than http://docs.openstack.org/developer/fuel-docs/userdocs/fuel-user-guide/file-ref/openstack-yaml.html?
15:02 mwhahaha depends on what you're trying to target
15:03 mwhahaha some of the contents of the openstack.yaml items are available to be managed on a per-env basis
15:03 mwhahaha via the fuel and fuel2 cli commands
15:03 mwhahaha i beleive the main openstack.yaml is for initial nailgun setup so you don't really modify it after the fact
15:04 Kdecherf i would like to add volumes (and map them to roles)
15:07 mwhahaha mapping to roles can be done via the 'fuel role' command
15:07 mwhahaha not sure about the volume mapping
15:07 Kdecherf yeah i know
15:07 mwhahaha let me see
15:07 Kdecherf but i don't see how to create new volumes
15:07 Kdecherf (in my case i would like to replace the os volume with a new one on the ceph-osd role)
15:08 mwhahaha i have a feeling you can do it via the provisioning command
15:08 mwhahaha but i'm not sure
15:09 Kdecherf hm, so i will need to edit each node?
15:11 mwhahaha how many nodes are you wanting to raid?
15:11 mwhahaha just the controllers or all of them?
15:11 Kdecherf just the ceph-osd nodes
15:11 Kdecherf i bypass the hardware raid on these nodes
15:12 Kdecherf but i use it on the other nodes so i don't need to touch volumes
15:12 Kdecherf (for the other nodes)
15:12 Kdecherf (6 nodes will have this role)
15:12 mwhahaha there's also fuel node --node-id 2 --disk --download
15:13 Kdecherf nope
15:13 Kdecherf this command only supports the change of volume name and size
15:13 mwhahaha ah yes fuel --env # provisioning --default
15:13 mwhahaha that has the volumes and types
15:14 Kdecherf yes, i saw that
15:14 Kdecherf i will give it a try, thx

15:15 Kdecherf on other point, i don't fully understand the ps_spaces part
15:15 Kdecherf does fuel create a /boot partition on all disks?
15:17 jmhale left #fuel
15:20 mwhahaha i want to say yes due to some issue in the past
15:21 mwhahaha but i'm not 100% on that
15:25 Kdecherf hm, ok thx

15:31 shewless Hello. I'm having trouble with my deployed openstack setup using fuel 9. I can't access the console of an instance. Failed to connect to server (code: 1006). I'm wondering if I messed up my network configuration?
15:34 shewless I've checked /etc/nova/nova.conf and it looks like the "novncproxy_host" is set to my management IP - which isn't really reachable from the outside network - could this be a problem?
15:35 krobzaur joined #fuel
15:35 Kdecherf another question regarding ceph: can we add new disks to deployed ceph-osd nodes from fuel?
15:36 mwhahaha Kdecherf: i don't think so, might depend on version of fuel
15:36 zinovik joined #fuel
15:37 Kdecherf in that case, the only way is to add them manually to nodes?
15:40 fatdragon joined #fuel
15:44 mwhahaha yes to add disks after the fact, it would be a manual thing

16:23 njhtran Hey all.  i'm installing fuel9 on a vm manually and at the main config menu when i go to save and apply it says "Warning you have selected an interface that contains one or more dhcp servers.  this will impact provisioning.  you should disable dhcp servers before you continue or else deployment will likely fail".  it lists dhcp server #1 172.29.223.1 mac address 00:1c:73:f8:36:c5 and then dhcp server #2 172.29.223.11 mac address 8e:b5:1e:
16:23 njhtran 86:9a:d4 .    i have no idea why it's trying to setup two dhcp servers
16:24 mwhahaha fuel setups up a dhcp server, so if your network that the vm is on also has a dhcp server it'll be a problem
16:25 mwhahaha so whatever network that is needs to not have an external dhcp server
16:25 njhtran oh you mean fuel is auto detecting that there's another dhcp server on the newtork
16:26 njhtran ok, that makes sense.  i thought it was telling me that fuel was trying to setup two itself.  Thanks for the info
16:27 njhtran mwhahaha, is there a way to force fuel to save anyway ?
16:27 njhtran save and continue or save and quit both give me the warning
16:27 njhtran and won't save
16:27 mwhahaha not sure
16:27 mwhahaha is that in the fuel menu?
16:28 njhtran yes
16:28 mwhahaha i don't think so
16:28 njhtran kk

21:03 ralfba Hi ... anyone can help me out on how to change the kernel-level on the target hosts (trusty)?
21:04 ralfba i successfully got it lifted in the bootstrap ... but not for the os-install that takes place during the deployment
21:07 mwhahaha ralfba: what version of fuel?
21:08 mwhahaha we exposed the initial packages for provisioning on the general settings tab in the UI in the newer versions of fuel
21:08 mwhahaha so you could probably just add the newer kernels there
21:09 mwhahaha for older versions the package list was hard coded in fuel agent so you'd  have to create a custom fork of that to change those
21:09 ralfba i tried to include the same repos there like the ones i used for getting the newer kernel into the bootstrap image
21:10 ralfba but that did not work :-(
21:10 ralfba deployment delivered still a kernel 3.13. xxx
21:11 mwhahaha yea not sure
