09:12 LGee No idea. I should tag myself #novice
09:13 LGee I have Fuel 7.0 and I just joined to see typical issues and questions I might run into as well, and how this community works
09:13 LGee Knowing myself, I'll be able to give advice in a few months

12:11 Be-El hi
12:11 Be-El does fuel provide a way to use an already existing cluster except the mirantis external-ceph plugin?
12:11 Be-El or does the plugin work with fuel 9.0?

12:49 DavidRama Hi got an issue on my PXE (openstack is running but did a change and see this error for all my nodes in fuel):
12:49 DavidRama [7f88123f1880] (manager) PXE interface info is not consistent for node "Untitled (36:34) (id=3, mac=E4:1D:2D:AE:36:34)"
12:51 LGee maybe related: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1532823

13:45 Be-El ok, using the mirantis external ceph plugins fails 'Failed to evaluate legacy condition  'settings:external-ceph.cinder_ceph.value == true or  settings:external-ceph.nova_ceph.value == true or  settings:external-ceph.glance_ceph.value == true': 'bool' object has no  attribute '__getitem__'' during deployment
13:45 Be-El any hint what's going wrong with it?

14:21 DavidRama Hello trying to delete a node but got this error : MCollective is not running on nodes: 14. MCollective must be running to properly delete a node. wich lead to have the cluster in error on fuel point of view
14:21 DavidRama anyway to have mcollective up easely ?
14:25 LGee Be-El: perhaps this one https://docs.fuel-infra.org/openstack/fuel/fuel-8.0/operations.html#howto-backup-and-restore-fuel-master
14:25 Be-El LGee: fuel 9.0 does not have dockerctl anymore
14:26 Be-El or it is deprecated
14:26 LGee Haha, nice
14:26 Be-El i was trying mirantis 8.0 before, but it fails with trying to add the admin user several times
14:27 Be-El i've fixed the issue with the external ceph plugin by removing the .value from the variables, but I've no clue whether that was a correct fix
14:37 mattymo Be-El, fuel env --env 1 --attributes --download
14:38 Be-El mattymo: great, thx
14:38 mattymo you can download individual nodes with fuel node command
14:38 mattymo DavidRama, reboot the node into bootstrap
14:38 mattymo easiest way

14:44 Be-El fuel uses standard linux bonding if configured with lacp support. are there any particular reasons not to use openvswitch bonding?
14:46 omolchanov joined #fuel
14:46 omolchanov left #fuel
14:54 mattymo in previous versions we had both, but we found the performance was far worse in OVS bonding and sometimes it crashed
14:54 DavidRama mattymo will this impact my current openstack setup ?
14:54 mattymo and we may switch back... OVS has improved in the last year significantly
14:54 mattymo DavidRama, rebooting to bootstrap to delete a node? It shouldn't hurt. You can change your mind and reboot back to the hard disk
14:55 DavidRama goog thanks
14:55 DavidRama good..

16:42 xarses DavidRama: in more recent versions of fuel, we block deleting the osd role in the cluster if it still has ceph-osd processes running on it. This is to prevent you from breaking your ceph cluster
16:43 xarses you are also missing 20 osd's resulting in your stuck pages

18:45 DavidRama xarses hi now I've a big rebalancing and dunno how to slow it won as it stucks my vms

18:51 neophy joined #fuel
18:53 xarses DavidRama: there are settings for the setting the replication rate so you can slow it down
18:53 xarses I'd have to look up what they are
18:54 xarses you still have 106 pages down, and 15 stuck stale
18:54 xarses probably, from the old osd's
18:54 xarses which could result in your stuck io
18:55 xarses (2/88 in osds are down)
19:19 DavidRama xarses I'm not really an expert :D
19:19 DavidRama but ceph processe eat the cpu of some of my nodes
19:19 DavidRama spawning a vm takes > 20minutes if not more

20:48 ralfba @kozhukalov / i am still trying to deploy a cluster based on ubuntu and the newest kernel ...
20:48 ralfba changing the /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/fuel_agent/drivers/nailgun.py
20:48 ralfba does not have any effect on the next run :-(
20:50 mwhahaha ralfba: where did you change it and what version of fuel?
20:50 ralfba it is 8.0 / changed the file /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/fuel_agent/drivers/nailgun.py
20:50 ralfba cleared /var/www/nailgun/targetimages/
20:51 ralfba and deleted all *.pyc files from /usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/fuel_agent/drivers/
20:51 thumpba joined #fuel
20:51 ralfba according to kozhukalov that should do it
20:51 mwhahaha 8.0 still has docker containers right?
20:51 ralfba right ...
20:51 mwhahaha you have to make that change in the nailgun docker container i believe
20:52 ralfba ok ... i can give it a try ...
20:53 ralfba but that file is not existing within that container ...
20:54 ralfba root@fuel /]# find . -name nailgun.py -print [root@fuel /]#
20:55 mwhahaha let me start up an 8.0 environment, give me a few
21:02 xarses ralfba: you need to delete, or manually re-create the image, once it exists it isn't updated
21:03 xarses reseting the env doen't remove this image
21:03 ralfba thats what i did - i deleted all in /var/www/nailgun/targetimages/
21:04 ralfba the images are recreated with the next run
21:04 ralfba the yaml-file next to those is containing a different package list :-(
21:05 ralfba that one that still has linux-headers-generic-lts-trusty, linux-image-generic-lts-trusty in it
21:27 mwhahaha still waiting for my 8.0 env
21:27 mwhahaha i thought i had one pre-setup, but nope :/
21:28 thumpba joined #fuel
21:30 ralfba ok ... bummer
21:31 mwhahaha just came up
21:31 mwhahaha let me go look
21:31 ralfba there is only one other nailgun.py - but that is within a directory called test ....
21:31 mwhahaha the astute container
21:32 mwhahaha that has a fuel_agent installed
21:32 mwhahaha that might be where it needs to be setup
21:32 mwhahaha and/or changed
21:32 ralfba ok - let me check
21:34 Egyptian[Home] joined #fuel
21:34 ralfba right - the nailgun.py here still has the old values ...
21:34 mwhahaha yea the question is where does the fuel agent get spawned from :D
21:34 mwhahaha there's also a copy in the mcollective container
21:35 mwhahaha i'm leaning towards the astute container
21:36 ralfba however - if it comes up with the trusty-kernel i will check all containers :-)
21:36 ralfba thx
