11:03 Egyptian[Home] y'all know your links to fuel 9 docs are broken right?
11:04 LGee hey Egyptian[Home]
11:04 LGee :)
11:05 Egyptian[Home] hi LGee
11:09 Egyptian[Home] fuelmenu/security setup/restrict ssh access - does that actually save modifcations? i had to go modify iptables by hand
11:12 LGee There's little traffic around here, every second day or so someone competent is around to answer recent questions
11:13 Egyptian[Home] LGee: where are most questions asked/answered?
11:13 LGee Idk, maybe on a mailing list
11:14 LGee I'm just here out of curiosity, we use Fuel 7.0 here and I'd like to see what the typical issues are etc
11:14 Egyptian[Home] ok thanks .. also, will keep the question open to the floor ;)
11:14 Egyptian[Home] hows your experience with fuel7? stable? does what is expected?
11:15 LGee We use it company-wide and it's OK as far as I can judge it
11:17 LGee I have learned a few things specific to docker, or for example that 8.0 runs on systemd backed CentOS 7.1 where you must manually configure a libvirt console for the Fuel VM, as opposed to v7.0 where it works ootb

11:32 hkominos hello fueleres. I have a quick tip. IF i delete a VM from my compute host i still see the rules regarding its traffic in Iptables. Is that normal?
11:39 LGee How did you delete it might be relevant
11:52 hkominos it appears that i killed it from horizon but the compute host was down

17:26 jerryz is neutron-fwaas included in liberty 8.0?
17:27 xarses all of the neutron packages are built and available to install
17:28 xarses it's not configured out of the box by fuel, you will have to use a plugin for that
17:30 jerryz xarses: in metadata.yaml of neutron-fwaas plugin, it just stated support of ubuntu 2015.1-7.0
17:30 jerryz xarses: so when i installed the plugin, it is hidden in settings
17:31 jerryz xarses: i manually changed the metadata to support liberty 8.0, but i am not sure it is really supported or not
17:31 jerryz xarses: after the change, the checkbox for neutron-fwaas plugin showed up
17:32 xarses the tasks format is substantially the same between 7 and 8 so it might work just fine
17:32 xarses the same is not true for 8 and 9
17:33 xarses you should doubble check the puppet manifests are using the same parmaters to whichver classes they are calling, as that's the most likely to change between the versions.
17:37 jerryz xarses: thanks
17:39 jerryz xarses: btw, do you know how to skip openstack-network tasks. fuel tries to create an initial network before our plugin is installed
17:40 jerryz xarses: the network is of no use since it won't take effect in the hardware our plugin talks to
17:40 xarses openstack-network is usually the neutron classes being run
17:41 xarses so you will want to check to see which ones you want to bypass
17:41 jerryz xarses: can i skip the step. i added openstack-network-networks as skipped in deployment_tasks .yaml but the networks still got created
17:42 xarses which networks?
17:43 jerryz admin-private-net i remember
17:43 jerryz admin-public-net
17:45 jerryz xarses: this is what i want to skip: https://github.com/openstack/fuel-library/blob/master/deployment/puppet/openstack_tasks/manifests/openstack_network/networks.pp
17:45 xarses yep
17:45 xarses all you should need to do is set the task as skipped in deployment_tasks.yaml
17:46 jerryz - id: openstack-network-networks
17:46 jerryz type: skipped
17:46 jerryz - id: openstack-network-routers
17:46 jerryz type: skipped
17:46 jerryz xarses: is this correct?
17:50 jerryz xarses: i got those task names from example, but i am not sure what is the real task name
17:50 xarses thats the real task name
17:51 jerryz xarses: i did mark them skipped but networks were still created
17:58 xarses you can double check the names with the output from the `fuel graph` commands, but it seems that should be right

22:39 fritchie I just finished install a Fuel 9.0 master node from an iso ... the only releases available are "Ubuntu 14.04 Mitaka" and "Centos 6.5 Mitaka" ... is there a way to add a release for Xenial or Centos 7?
22:40 mwhahaha no unfortunately it's more complicated than that
22:40 mwhahaha we're working on xenial support for 10 but it requires all the packaging and support for deploying those OSs
22:42 fritchie thx
23:05 xarses You could technically set it up, but you'd have to go through all of the possible package issues, as well as use the xenial UCA packages
23:06 xarses and on top of that, the puppet manifests do not support xenial (upstart -> systemd)
23:06 xarses so they may not work
