16:05 ajschroeder hello
16:05 ajschroeder I have a (hopefully) qq for the group
16:05 ub joined #fuel
16:06 ajschroeder I have a cloud deployed with 3 controllers and one of them failed for whatever reason, so I attempted to remove it from fuel, the deployment failed but I was able to remove the offline node from the fuel web UI
16:07 ajschroeder these are blade servers so I replaced the node and tried to PXE boot the new controller, but the MAC address is the same as the old controller
16:07 mwhahaha you'll need to manually clean it up
16:07 mwhahaha remove from db & clean up cobbler
16:07 ajschroeder so I think something is stuck in the fuel master with the old controller
16:07 ajschroeder ok, great.... how do I do that?
16:09 mwhahaha to remove from the db, fuel node --node-id 1 --delete-from-db
16:10 mwhahaha use the cobbler command to manage the node in cobbler
16:10 mwhahaha (cobbler system list, cobbler system remove --name=<nodename>)
16:12 raunak joined #fuel
16:13 ajschroeder fantastic!
16:14 ajschroeder I was able to remove it from cobbler, but it wasn't in the fuel node list (probably because I removed it from web UI)
16:14 mwhahaha fuel node
16:14 mwhahaha if it's not there then it's gone and it might just been in cobbler
16:16 ajschroeder it was only listed in cobbler and now the server PXE booted! thank you very much!!
16:16 mwhahaha cool
16:17 ajschroeder btw - is this in the operations guide anywhere? I was googling around for it but couldn't find anything on how to remove a stuck node (maybe I wasn't searching with the magic phrase)
16:18 mwhahaha probably not
16:19 mwhahaha we do have some cobbler stuff, https://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-8.0/operations.html#how-to-modify-kernel-parameters

16:42 ajschroeder I have ran across that cobbler page while looking for the fix to this issue
16:42 ajschroeder the server has PXE booted and I am now deploying the new controller, thanks again for your help!

17:10 krypto hello all ,is there any configs in bootstrap image that mentions fuel master ip?I looked in etc/nailgun and etc/mcollective couldnt find any ip address there
17:14 mwhahaha not in the image itself i don't think
17:15 mwhahaha actually it should be in the bootstrap image somewhere let me see
17:18 mwhahaha krypto: the resolv.conf points to the master
17:18 mwhahaha and the mcollective points to 'nailgun' which resolves to the master
17:19 mwhahaha http://paste.openstack.org/show/515783/

18:00 krypto mwhahaha ping nailgun returns unknown host;but i can see that in bootstap image on master /media/etc/mcollective/server.cfg "plugin.rabbitmq.pool.1.host =" was empty but after discovery clients have that filled with master
18:00 mwhahaha which version
18:02 krypto 7
18:02 mwhahaha yea i'm not completely sure of the bootstrap interaction for that
18:03 mwhahaha i was checking a bootstrap image from 9 i think
18:03 krypto thanks for your effort :)

18:58 ibravo I just installed v9 and although I updated the node name and domain, it still shows as fuel.domain.tld   Is this expected?

19:47 LGee ibravo: tbh I don't know if renaming it is supported at all
19:48 ibravo LGee thanks. Would love to have implemented, as don't quite like the domain.tld stuff
19:51 LGee At least changing it messed up things in my env, so I ended up changing PS1 so that I can see which fuel I'm in at the moment
