01:12 cr0wrx Hi all, I'm trying to install fuel 8 remotely and it keeps dropping into emergency dracut shell very early on before even getting to fuel setup menu. Anyone seen this before?

10:11 sallum Hello, I just installed mirantis fuel v8.0 and discovered that the sshd is attached to the PXE network. In the instalation I had to change the eth0 and eth1 as default so now my configuration is eth0 (public) and eth1(PXE). I see the sshd is listening only to the PXE net address. How can I put 0.0.0.0 in puppet config?
10:24 javeriak joined #fuel
10:34 kozhukalov it must listen to all IPs https://github.com/openstack/fuel-library/blob/master/deployment/puppet/fuel/examples/host.pp#L134

12:17 fdammeke Hi, I'm testing the fuel openstack installer provided by mirantis and came to the point of deploying an environment. All config looks fine, but when deploying I run into a network config error.
12:18 skamithi2 joined #fuel
12:18 fdammeke It seems to be related to https://specs.openstack.org/openstack/fuel-specs/specs/8.0/network-interfaces-naming-schemes.html - Fuel tries to create a vlan tagged interface, but the interface name is > 15 characters

12:19 fdammeke Is this a documented 'bug'? And are there any suggestions how to fix this?

13:41 fdammeke I built an additional bootstrap image with biosdevname=0 net.ifnames=0 in /etc/fuel-bootstrap-cli/fuel_bootstrap_cli.yaml as a workaround, enabling eth* interfaces for now :/

14:53 agordeev fdammeke: i thought that was fixed. https://bugs.launchpad.net/fuel/+bug/1543378
14:55 neilus joined #fuel
14:59 agordeev fdammeke: it suggests the following work-around: * Deploy using vlans only 3 digits long
15:05 agordeev kozhukalov: i've found another not mentioned channel. fuel-octane
15:08 agordeev #fuel-bugs too
15:13 fdammeke agordeev: thanks for the launchpad reference!
15:14 agordeev fdammeke: it looks like it should be published in release notes officially.
15:15 fdammeke agordeev: the behaviour is really unpredictable, bootstrap starts and uses eth* devices when 'biosdevname=0 net.ifnames=0' is enabled in the kernel params; and other times it doesn't
15:15 fatdragon joined #fuel
15:17 fdammeke has this been packported into 8.0?
15:18 fdammeke backported*
15:18 fdammeke oh nvm, it has state won't fix
15:21 agordeev fdammeke: what did you mean it doesn't work other times? have you applied these kernel options to cluster's settings too?
15:21 DavidRama joined #fuel
15:23 fdammeke agordeev: it's quite hard to say, some (equal hardware) machines boot up with eth* interfaces, other with en* interfaces
15:24 fdammeke agordeev: I only edited the bootstrap image kernel params
15:25 agordeev fdammeke: perhaps, some of nodes wasn't rebooted to let them boot up with fresh bootstrap image. I have no any other idea how that could happen.
15:28 agordeev fdammeke: you may need to edit cluster settings too. otherwise, provisioned nodes could end up with en*. but i'm not quite sure about that.
15:29 fatdragon joined #fuel
15:29 javeriak joined #fuel
15:29 fdammeke agordeev: any direction where to edit this cluster based?
15:32 agordeev fdammeke: fuel UI -> Environment (choose particular env) -> Settings -> Kernel parameters
15:33 fritchie is there a recommended way to add additional iptables rules?
15:33 fdammeke agordeev: oh yes, i saw that one, but it's already configured 'net.ifnames=0 biosdevname=0'
15:35 romcheg joined #fuel
15:38 agordeev fdammeke: all right, here's my last guess. did you remove all nodes before they got booted up with updated bootstrap image? perhaps, NIC names was stored in fuel database so they won't be updated (or was just being locked from updates).
