12:35 AlexAvadanii hi, fuelers! I found a small bug in a bugfix :) https://github.com/openstack/fuel-library/blob/stable/mitaka/deployment/puppet/openstack_tasks/manifests/roles/compute.pp#L340
12:35 AlexAvadanii there is no such thing as package_type ubuntu, only debianm
12:35 pod2metra joined #fuel
12:38 mescanef joined #fuel
12:39 AlexAvadanii should I open a bug report for that?
12:43 mskalski AlexAvadanii: I think we may overwrite this fact: https://github.com/openstack/fuel-library/blob/3ac70dd752e01f5aaf31595c26b492c5847e7ac4/deployment/puppet/osnailyfacter/manifests/globals/globals.pp#L44
12:43 AlexAvadanii mskalski: I was looking into it because we have libvirt 1.3.2, and virtlogd is not automatically started after install
12:43 AlexAvadanii but we do not use UCA, so that part is not executed
12:44 AlexAvadanii mskalski: thank you for pointing to that code, I now understand how it is supposed to work
12:49 Liuqing joined #fuel
13:03 GMAzrael shouldn't groups => ['nova', 'libvirt'], in manifests/ceilometer/compute.pp
13:03 GMAzrael , be libvirtd?

13:37 mwhahaha AlexAvadanii: are you using debian packages or mos packages?
13:40 mwhahaha GMAzrael: i'd have to check the packages, but that block might be wrong depending on which packageset you use. that does look like a questionable block of code
13:40 GMAzrael mwhahaha: I was useing 14.04+UCA
13:40 GMAzrael using*
13:41 mwhahaha then yes, that is wrong
13:41 mwhahaha we shouldn't actually be managing users/groups anyway
13:41 GMAzrael https://github.com/openstack/fuel-library/blob/stable/mitaka/deployment/puppet/openstack_tasks/manifests/ceilometer/compute.pp
13:41 mwhahaha can you create a bug? https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel/How_to_contribute#Test_and_report_bugs

14:20 AlexAvadanii mwhahaha: custom built package from our own public repos :) libvirt was bumped to 1.3.2 from upstream + custom fixes ...
14:20 AlexAvadanii I got used to building our own debs after a while, but I don't really like it
14:22 AlexAvadanii we fixed the group name issue (libvirt vs libvirtd) in our deb instead, to keep it close to mos behavior
14:31 DavidRama joined #fuel
14:36 zubchick ikalnitsky, ikutukov: I’ve responded to your comments https://review.openstack.org/#/c/341387/
14:40 AlexAvadanii mwhahaha, GMAzrael: we actually have a patch for this in armband https://git.opnfv.org/cgit/armband/tree/patches/fuel-library/0012-ceilometer-Fix-libvirt-bin-group-name-for-armband.patch
14:40 AlexAvadanii although I think we should compare the version with 1.3.0, not 1.3.2 there
14:41 mwhahaha i guess that's one way to do it
14:42 mwhahaha we'll probably be updating it for newton, but it probably won't be backported for mitaka
14:44 GMAzrael Thanks gent's maybe a bug release then for the other public?
14:45 mwhahaha GMAzrael: we'll try and get that fixed for 9.1

15:01 GMAzrael anyone see this before ' (Package[murano-dashboard](provider=apt_fuel)) WARNING:root:"dashboards" and "default_dashboard" in (local_)settings is DEPRECATED now and may be unsupported in some future release. The preferred way to specify the order of dashboards and the default dashboard is the pluggable dashboard mechanism (in /usr/share/openstack-dashboard/openstack_dashboard/enabled, /usr/share/openstack-dashboard/openstack

15:51 AlexAvadanii fuel-menu/fuel-bootstrap Q: any ideas on supporting multiple architectures for bootstrap (and inherintely multiple active bootstrap images)? per-pod bootstrap? dnsmasqcobbler would have no problem detecting the arch in the PXE request and serving the right one ..

18:08 cr0wrx anyone over here know how to restrict access to a provider network/external network? I managed to create additional ones, but it seems any user in any tenant can create a router+set gateway to it (even though new external network is not marked shared) and allocate floating ips from it
18:51 krypto any idea why "fuel node" shows "br-mgmt" ip instead of "br-fw-admin" in fuel 6.1

18:58 johnavp1989 hi all i'm struggling to figure out the process for upgrading openstack using fuel-octane from kilo > liberty
18:58 johnavp1989 I can't find any solid documentation anywhere
18:59 johnavp1989 can anyone point me to some documentation?
19:10 AlexAvadanii http://docs.openstack.org/developer/fuel-docs/userdocs/fuel-install-guide/upgrade/upgrade-fuel.html
19:18 johnavp1989 AlexAvandanii: Thanks. I just went through that process and I can successfully upgrade fuel but how can I upgrade openstack/ceph on the slaves?
19:18 AlexAvadanii johnavp1989: sry, but I never used fuel-octane, that link is pretty much all  knew
19:18 AlexAvadanii all I knew*
19:20 johnavp1989 AlexAvadanii: ok thank you. I'm not sure if fuel-octane is even the answer. I only ended up coming across fuel octane after failing to get the slaves upgraded using the process you linked
19:22 xarses_ joined #fuel
19:22 AlexAvadanii well, my understanding of those instructions is that fuel-octane backups and restores fuel components, not sure you can upgrade openstack release with it ...
19:23 xarses_ joined #fuel
19:23 AlexAvadanii for upgrading openstack, I remember reading somewhere (but don't quote me on this) that hte best approach is backing up everything (configuration-wise), install the new fuel for the wanted release
19:23 xarses_ joined #fuel
19:24 AlexAvadanii and do a clean deploy, with the new openstack release, and old configuration ...
19:25 AlexAvadanii maybe this is more suited? https://www.mirantis.com/blog/yes-can-upgrade-openstack-heres/
19:25 AlexAvadanii that last link is the opposite of backup and redeploy
19:28 johnavp1989 yea i saw that as well though it's from 2014 before liberty and kilo so i hesitate to use that method. also I'm not fond of having to deploy additional hardware... but maybe that's the only way
19:29 johnavp1989 fuel-octane does seem to have the ability to upgrade the nodes, beyond just fuel and the project is kept up to date but alas.... the documentation is out of date https://github.com/openstack/fuel-octane/tree/master
19:46 mwhahaha https://docs.mirantis.com/openstack/fuel/fuel-7.0/operations.html#upgrade-environment-experimental was the 6.1 to 7 upgrade path
