13:45 vvalyavskiy evgenyl: hi, did you have a chance to see my comments https://review.openstack.org/#/c/387969/ ?
13:49 Sketch hmm, i had this fixed before but it seems to have broken again.  what is the proper way to set the domain properly so VMs don't get .novalocal as a domain?
13:49 Sketch running mirantis 9.0
13:50 Sketch i already set dhcp_domain in nova.conf on both the controllers and compute hosts...

14:18 ashleyd_ Hey all, Looking to get some insight on an issue I'm having, using fuel 9 to deploy openstack the slave nodes pxe boot of the fuel controller and install the bootstrap image but fuel doesn't discover them, They can ping out to the internet and are sending syslogs to the fuel master but no discovery at all, any ideas
14:26 Sketch ashleyd_: were the nodes previously deployed with fuel?
14:29 ashleyd_ yeh they were deployed on fuel 7
14:31 ashleyd_ Sketch: though the nodes are booting through the pxe image so not sure what your getting at
14:38 Sketch look on the fuel master in /var/lib/tftpboot/pxelinux.cfg and remove any references to their MAC addresses, then pxe boot again and see if they show up
14:39 Sketch i assume you already deleted them from the node list in fuel
14:39 Sketch sometimes those pxeboot.cfg entries seem to get left behind
14:41 ashleyd_ yeh the node list is empty, this is a fresh install of fuel 9

14:47 ashleyd_ Sketch: yeh looks like every thing is fine in pxelinux, only thing is the default menu configuration
14:54 hanwei joined #fuel
15:04 ashleyd_ Sketch: Looking into this more it seems the node sends a http to the master "Trying to create host using https://10.20.0.2:8443/api" in agent.log but in the nailgun logs of the server theres no request
15:06 AlexAvadanii hi! any packetary-savvy people around? I think I found a small bug in deb repo publishing
15:08 AlexAvadanii I think that in https://github.com/openstack/packetary/blob/master/packetary/drivers/deb_driver.py#L412, "repository.architecture" should be "_ARCHITECTURES[repository.architecture]", i.e. translating "x86_64" into "amd64"

16:55 ganesan But I am able to reach those offline node
16:55 ganesan anyone plz help me on this

18:45 evgenyl ganesan How many nodes do you have? There are api calls from nodes to fuel api, if node didn't send heartbeat for some time, the node is marked as offline, the period can be configured in the config file, depending here is an example of configuration parameters https://github.com/openstack/fuel-web/blob/stable/mitaka/nailgun/nailgun/settings.yaml#L57-L59

20:04 ram5391 has anyone had experience migrating a KVM based Fuel installation?
20:04 ram5391 Fuel comes up and everything works fine except DNS resolution to nodes, it looks like whatever fuel is using as a DNS server is not working
20:05 ram5391 nslookup will not resolve node names, it hits 8.8.8.8 (which means it has failed to use itself as a lookup)
20:07 ram5391 if anyone could give me some helpful logs to look at, that would be appreciated, or even the service fuel is using for its dns, if not dnsmasq
20:09 Sketch it uses dnsmasq
20:09 Sketch there should be nothing different about running fuel inside of KVM than outside it
20:09 Sketch i would make sure it has access to the internet over it's default gateway
20:10 Sketch i run it in kvm, and the only issue i had was that i had to make sure it had access to all of the networks that the provisioned nodes are on, or provisioning would fail
20:15 ram5391 okay, and is there some reason that maybe a cache would get interrupted between the copy/migration? If so, how should I go about resetting that?
20:16 ram5391 the new instance can ping google and external IPs, I even installed some packages, so it has internet access. And the hosts are configured identically
20:17 ram5391 whats strange also is that I can ping the nodes from the fuel node on their internal IPs, but I cannot ssh into the nodes via their internal IP

20:28 ogelbukh 15:48:40 <@ogelbukh> I actually found a kind of guide by vkozhukalov here >> http://lists.openstack.org/pipermail/openstack-dev/2016-September/103969.html

23:14 evgenyl ogelbukh: What problems do you have with this guide?
23:39 ogelbukh well, it doesn't work :)
23:39 ogelbukh there's no packages for 10.0
23:39 ogelbukh I'm trying it now with 9.0
23:40 ogelbukh at least it installs things
23:42 ogelbukh and runs fuel-menu
23:45 ogelbukh with 9.0 it looks much better
