17:45 DeMiNe0 I'm having issues connecting to the WebUI on port 8443 on a brand new setup of fuel. Anyone have any experience with troubleshooting these types of issues? I can connect to SSH just fine. I get connection refused on port 8443. I dont see any services running on that port via netstat, and I don't see rules for it in Iptables either.
17:49 evgenyl DeMiNe0: What version do you use? Try to check nginx configs/logs on the master node.
17:50 DeMiNe0 I'm using 9.0. 9.0 doesn't seem to have nginx. It uses apache2 I think (atleast, the configs are stored in /etc/httpd
17:50 evgenyl DeMiNe0: It uses apache only for Cobbler, there has to be nginx installed for repos, Nailgun, and static files like UI.
17:51 DeMiNe0 Hmmmm, it should have been installed automatically during the ISO's installer then, shouldn't it?
17:51 evgenyl DeMiNe0: Yes, if there is no Nginx installed, it's probably because of node bootstrapping problems.
17:52 DeMiNe0 nginx isn't installed. Thats for sure. It's not showing up in the yum installed packages list.
17:53 DeMiNe0 What type of bootstrapping problem could it be? I was under the assumption that the masternode will use it's own centos packaged with the ISO as the bootstrap.
17:53 evgenyl DeMiNe0: There should be logs, but I don't really remember where they are, so try to look for logs in /root, /tmp, /var/log.
17:53 DeMiNe0 ok
17:54 evgenyl DeMiNe0: It runs puppet apply during the initial boot, so something may went wrong.
17:54 DeMiNe0 Is there a way to run the puppet apply again without re-deploying the iso?
17:56 evgenyl thiagolib: You can rerun puppet manifests on the node using CLI  https://wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Fuel_CLI#Deployment
17:56 DeMiNe0 Ahhhhh! Perfect
17:56 evgenyl DeMiNe0: It was not for you :)
17:56 DeMiNe0 ooof lol
17:57 evgenyl DeMiNe0: There is a way to rerun puppet manifests, but I don't remember a specific command.
17:57 evgenyl ogelbukh: You did something related ^
17:57 DeMiNe0 I'll have to look that up. Thanks for your help!
17:57 evgenyl ogelbukh: I mean rerunning puppet apply is similar to Master update flow.

18:11 evgenyl DeMiNe0: I remember there has to be a script which does bootstrapping procedure, you may try to find it in bin directories by running 'find / -name "*boot*"' or something like that.
18:11 evgenyl DeMiNe0: But before running it, open and read it, to make sure, that there is nothing destructive.
18:12 DeMiNe0 I'm not really sure what exactly I'm looking for though. Are you saying there needs to be a script thats run AFTER I follow the original install directions on the Openstack wiki?
18:14 DeMiNe0 I just find it really odd that there are still extra steps that need to be taken after a FRESH iso deployment of the master node to ESXi. I followed the guide on the wiki exactly, so what the offical documantion is expecting to happen, doesn't happen.  Atleast not on ESXi.
18:14 DeMiNe0 I'm about to try it in KVM to see if there's a difference.
18:16 ogelbukh evgenyl DeMiNe0 standard deploy.sh script should be good enough
18:16 ogelbukh it simply runs those 'tasks' that apply puppet to master node in correct order
18:17 ogelbukh bootstrap_admin_node.sh that evgenyl means is a bit more complicated beast, it's only needed for initial deployment or if you want to change settings, I believe
18:19 evgenyl DeMiNe0: Well, usually no additional steps are required, in your case there was some error, which prevented bootstrap process to complete, 1. check logs, to find out what exactly went wrong. 2. rerun bootstrapping process, by running a script which is used to bootstrap the node.
18:19 ogelbukh deploy.sh is in /etc/puppet/modules/fuel/examples/
18:22 DeMiNe0 I think I found where it's failing. It looks like yum is failing to install the python_openstackclient packages.
18:22 DeMiNe0 Not sure how I would fix it though.
18:23 DeMiNe0 Requires a higher version than available, so it looks like it *might* be using the wrong repo's
18:24 thiagolib evgenyl: if I use these puppet manifests the way in this wiki, it will remake the installation of every node. that way I'll lose the controller settings that have it because it also works as a controller node.
18:27 evgenyl thiagolib: `fuel --env 1 node --deploy --node 1,2` does not do reprovisioning, what it does is reruns `puppet apply` on the nodes, manifests are idempotent, so it will ensure that required packages are installed and configured.
18:28 evgenyl thiagolib: You can test it in some lab before executing on your prod (always good to do it anyway).
18:32 thiagolib evgenyl: thanks I'll test.

19:18 DeMiNe0 So my issues seem to be from using repo's that have out dated packages in them, although I'm using the default iso repo's. Not sure how to fix this since I don't know what other repo's to use.
19:23 evgenyl MiroslavAnashkin: Have you heard about this issue? ^

21:40 ogelbukh I had dependency issues with python-keystoneclient when tried to install fuel from master (version 10.0.0.)
21:41 ogelbukh or rather from the latest set of packages
21:41 ogelbukh didn't see it on fuel9 or with openstackclient specifically
21:41 ogelbukh but it could be that there's a new release of it or something in our updates repo

23:14 evgenyl ashtokolov: I'm not familiar with the way we handle dependencies and repos, do you know anything about those issues? ^
23:42 ralfba i know that his worked in the past - but for some reason (maybe update to 9.0.0.1) it stoped working :-(
