14:27 jdarcy Is it just my imagination, or our regression tests totally broken for the last day or so?
14:32 bfoster hrm, I kicked off a test and immediately see a bunch of failures
14:32 bfoster (bd.t)
14:33 hagarth jdarcy: yeah, there are 2 consistent failures
14:34 jdarcy I kicked off the most recent one that succeeded.  If this try succeeds, the problem is a commit.  If this try fails, it's the environment.
14:36 jdarcy I wonder if we should consider better ways of ordering these tests.  Shortest first, most likely to fail first, etc.
14:37 jdarcy Personally I'd also prefer if it bailed out after the first failure.  Sure, we might lose some information about other tests that might have failed too, but more often we're just delaying the next run.
14:38 hagarth jdarcy: yes, bailing after the first run seems better to me.
14:39 jdarcy Which repo are those scripts in?
15:18 jdarcy Hm.  The tests succeeded, but it looks like they had everything in HEAD which had previously failed.  I suspect that the problem was environmental, and the environment changed.

19:02 * a2_ is back
19:17 jdarcy Welcome back, a2.  We've missed you.
19:18 a2 i see i have a lot to catch up on gerrit alone
19:18 jdarcy While you were gone, we replaced AFR with a DRBD shim, and rewrote DHT in C++.
19:19 jdarcy Oh, and we're putting it all in the kernel too.
19:19 a2 i'm headed back
19:19 a2 heh
19:25 kkeithley wait, you rewrote DHT in C++? What am I supposed to do with my version in Java now?
19:27 a2 integrate that with swig
19:27 a2 (if that makes sense at all!)
19:27 kkeithley what is swig anyway
19:35 jdarcy Interface generator.  Takes an IDL file and generates code to call it from like a hundred languages - C/C++, Java, Python, Ruby, Perl, probably brainf*ck. by now.
19:36 jdarcy It's pretty simplistic, just generates bare function calls IIRC.  Higher-level languages still have to do stuff like wrap objects and methods around those functions.  Thrift is a (slightly) more modern version of the same thing.
19:37 kkeithley oh right, not that you say it it's coming back to me
19:37 kkeithley s/not/now/
19:38 kkeithley ah, good. libtool problem solved.
19:38 jdarcy There's a language called Chicken?  SWIG supports it, apparently.
19:39 kkeithley Did it come before or after the (python) egg?
19:39 jdarcy Ah.  It's a Scheme implementation.
19:40 jdarcy I guess somebody should sit down with these Big Data guys and try to figure out what it makes sense to do for HadOOPS integration.  Otherwise they'll come up with something crazy and foist it on us.
20:17 kkeithley johnmark: any word on dates for the CERN visit?

20:42 * johnmark laughs at the C++ joke
20:42 johnmark er... it is a joke, right????
20:42 * johnmark laughs nervously
20:42 johnmark a2: where have you been?
20:44 jdarcy I think something in the XML code is corrupting memory.
20:45 jdarcy Last regression failed because glusterd crashed during volume delete from bug-879490.t
20:46 jdarcy I can reproduce it easily on my system, but not if I omit "$CLI peer probe a.b.c.d --xml"
