00:40 johnmark_ I'm now at Intel's campus and we're about to get going.
00:40 johnmark I'm just hoping we don't have to do the firedrill today :(
00:41 johnmark ok, let the test fest begin!
00:59 johnmark avati_: any idea who changed the iptables rules on b.g.o?

08:36 ollivera " The way that DHT works is via consistent hashing, in which file names are hashed and the hashes looked up in a table where each range of hashes is assigned exactly one “brick” "
08:36 ollivera How can I get the brick hash range?
08:37 ollivera getfattr -n trusted.glusterfs.pathinfo /storage/default/ returns different values than getfattr -n trusted.glusterfs.pathinfo /storage/default/blabla/

09:15 ollivera I just want to know a way to get the hashing range assigned to a specific brick
09:28 bala1 joined #gluster-dev
09:28 ndevos ollivera: the hash ranges are per directory - the filename (without dirs) is hashed, the directories rotate the hash-ranges
09:29 ndevos that prevents a file called README (in different directories) to be located on teh same brick all the time
09:40 ollivera ndevos, I just realized that.
09:40 ollivera thank you
09:41 ndevos you're welcome :)

13:12 kkeithley full set up 3.4.0.beta1 RPMs for Fedora 17, 18, 19, RHEL 6, and CentOS 6; i386, x86_64, armhfp, and arm now available at http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/qa-releases/3.4.0beta1/
13:23 nickw hello. I would like to know why we still maintain 3.3.2 while 3.4 is on the road?
13:25 nickw what's the different approch between these two versions?
13:38 hagarth nickw: 3.3.2 gets only patches that have been requested by the community - not much churn in that branch and hence it will be a stabilization release.
13:56 shubhendu joined #gluster-dev
14:01 kkeithley Note that G4S (nee UFO) in the 3.4.0beta1 RPMs for Fedora 19 and RHEL/CentOS now uses the Fedora/EPEL openstack-swift instead of glusterfs-swift.
14:01 wushudoin joined #gluster-dev
14:03 kkeithley The next step would be to use the RDO Fedora 18 openstack-swift instead for our Fedora 18 packages.
14:05 kkeithley We'll continue to ship the glusterfs-swift packages for Fedora 17, which is nearing its end-of-life, so we would not be doing that for very long in any event.
14:24 nickw hagarth: thank you. just left for some calls. :)

14:41 xavih is there anyone with access to gerrit management ?

14:42 hagarth xavih: yes
14:43 xavih hagarth: I'm unable to link my work email address to my account. It says that the identity is in use by another account
14:43 hagarth xavih: let me check
14:44 xavih hagarth: I don't remember very well, but it is possible that some time ago I registered and linked my work email address, but it does not appear in my account
14:44 xavih hagarth: and I don't think I used another openid account
14:46 hagarth xavih: yes, I do see two registrations from you. One is related to your work email as well.
14:47 xavih I registered with my work email ? it is not an openid account...
14:57 kkeithley Just out of curiosity, does anyone (else) think it's strange that the RDO openstack-swift f18 yum repo has fc19 and fc20 rpms instead of fc18 rpms?

16:56 jclift kkeithley: You might find this interesting: https://github.com/justinclift/glusterflow
16:57 jclift kkeithley: Finally got all of the pieces for this GlusterFlow thing lined up and working.  It's still in super basic state, but the web app for it now processes and displays usage data.
16:58 jclift kkeithley: Not even slightly close to proper interactive yet, but now the heavy lifting is done.
16:59 kkeithley kewl
16:59 jclift So, lots of tweaking and display adjustment to be done, updating the Glupy stuff to send more useful info, and updating the web app part to be properly interactive
16:59 kkeithley make sure jdarcy sees it
17:00 jclift i.e. show the most active servers, pick your own time range across them, filter out everything except desired file operation types (ie mkdir or rmdir or something), etc.
17:00 jclift kkeithley: Will do
17:01 jclift kkeithley: All of the graphical stuff is done _client side_, so it's not just hard coded graphics.  mousing over those bar graph lines shows stats and stuff (even now)
17:01 * jclift writes email to jdarcy
17:02 kkeithley I think one of the devs was working on adding more fops to the Glupy as part of adding it to the tree, although it was unclear whether we wanted to add it to the tree yet
17:03 jclift kkeithley: Yep.  Ram Raja.  He significantly expanded out the fop it does.  Pull Request has already been submitted to the GitHub repo with his patch. https://github.com/jdarcy/glupy/pulls
17:03 kkeithley oh, you've seen that, you -1ed it. (It was Ramana Raja's )
17:03 kkeithley snap
17:04 jclift kkeithley: yeah, the rpm building process in the main tree breaks it
17:04 jclift kkeithley: The .c/.h code itself is fine though
17:04 jclift It's just something about the packaging process (stripping too much?) renders the result non-functional
17:05 kkeithley hmmm, what happens if you install the debuginfo pkg?
17:05 jclift Hmmmm, I *think* it's still busted.  Saying that because I normally do install it.
17:06 kkeithley ah, okay
17:06 jclift But, I haven't looked at it in days so only 95% sure. :)
17:16 portante joined #gluster-dev
17:29 kkeithley even a stripped .so should retain the 'dynamic' symbol table used for shared lib symbol resolution, and unless I'm mistaken that should be what dlsym() uses.
17:29 kkeithley And AFAIK jdarcy usually builds/installs/runs rpms when he builds from source.
17:30 jclift kkeithley: yeah, it was definitely weird
17:30 jclift kkeithley: But, also completely reproducable
17:30 kkeithley yup, I believe——
17:30 jclift The problem was _only_ with the patch to the master tree.
17:30 jclift The exact same .c/.h files copied to the external project were perfectly fine
