17:52 lbalbalba hi, quick question: is glusterfs supposed to run on a 32-bit (Linux) operating system ?
18:06 lbalbalba when i run the 'prove' tests, im getting errors like this: fstat failure (Value too large for defined data type)
18:07 lbalbalba it just makes me wonder...
18:47 JoeJulian that's not a -dev question
18:47 lbalbalba its not ?
18:48 JoeJulian Well, it's not a development question, so not really.
18:48 lbalbalba sorry, i was under the impression that devs would know the most about the required bits
18:48 JoeJulian but the answer is yes.
18:48 JoeJulian It does run on 32 bit machines. I don't know if they've tested the tests on 32 bit though.
18:49 lbalbalba thanks. so the test errors i see are a bug in the tests, i assume
18:49 lbalbalba or at least false assumptions
18:50 JoeJulian Could be...
18:50 JoeJulian Or it could be that they broke 32 bit. :D
18:50 lbalbalba i doubt that :)
18:51 JoeJulian Trust but verify. :D
18:51 lbalbalba ok, i emailed the devs list with this (and other) test failures. should i just go ahead and file a bug report on the test failures ?
18:51 JoeJulian Yes please.
18:51 lbalbalba ok.
18:56 lbalbalba done.  https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=962226
18:56 glusterbot Bug 962226: unspecified, unspecified, ---, vbellur, NEW , 'prove' tests failures
19:00 lbalbalba i always wonder whether i should first discuss an issue on the mailing list or irc before i file a bug report, or go ahead and just file a bug report. it cvould always be an issue with my system instead of a bug.
19:02 JoeJulian Fair point.
19:17 lbalbalba also: mixing n matching 32-bit and 64-bit os's in the same trust pool cluster is probably a Bad Idea(tm) :)
19:18 lbalbalba you could be creating files on 64-bit that are large enough to prevent you from accessing them on 32-bit
19:19 lbalbalba in the same cluster
