08:00 ndevos hello hagarth: is there a directory on build.gluster.org where I can copy a src.rpm so that the fedora cloud can download it?
08:01 ndevos hagarth: if thats not so easy, I could setup an ssh key for copying to download.gluster.org

12:49 ndevos jclift: MEMSTOMP seems interesting, but it is pretty limited for its use cases - I'm more into systemtap as it can debug much *much* more
12:51 ndevos jclift: recent bug 1051226 contains some scripts that debug functions in a running samba process, that's really helpful for me :)
12:51 glusterbot Bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com:443/show_bug.cgi?id=1051226 high, high, ---, ira, NEW , Wrong atime updates on a file during write() while using vfs glusterfs CIFS interface
12:57 kkeithley_ ndevos, hagarth: anything else we need to discuss wrt qa and beta versions? Are we agreed on major.minor.teeny?
12:57 ndevos kkeithley_: I agree with that :)
12:58 ndevos kkeithley_: and, instead of marking them 'qa' maybe they should be labelled 'alpha'?
12:59 kkeithley_ And FWIW, I had thought to do  3.4.2-0.1.qa4 -> 3.4.2-0.2.qa5 -> 3.4.2-0.3.beta1 -> 3.4.2-1 to deal with the issue of updating from qaX to betaX. But then we didn't have a 3.4.2 beta, and ndevos did 3.4.2-0.1.qa5. Maybe next time?
12:59 kkeithley_ yes, I think we've actually had alphas in the past, in addition to many qaX releases.
13:00 kkeithley_ either way, if we have qaX -> alphaX -> betaX -> GA then my thinking still applies
13:00 kkeithley_ or just call the qaX alphaX instead.
13:01 ndevos oh, yes a -0.1qa* , -0.2qa* and -3.3alpha* etc works for me too
13:01 ndevos well, not -3.3, but yes
13:01 * kkeithley_ knew what you meant. ;-)

15:12 ndevos regression tests show: ./tests/bugs/bug-1051896.c:14:21: error: sys/acl.h: No such file or directory
15:12 ndevos (and more errors)
15:12 ndevos the test passes never the less.., oops?!
15:37 kkeithley_ ndevos: installing it now
15:44 ndevos kkeithley_: thanks, lets hope that does not break all regression tests now ;)
15:48 johnmark so... who wants to be included on the "testing staff" group

15:48 johnmark there is a nice, blue gluster polo with your name on it
15:48 ndevos hmm
15:48 johnmark :)
15:49 ndevos what are the requirements for that?
15:49 johnmark oh wait, you already have a blue gluster polo :P
15:49 ndevos but without my name!
15:49 johnmark ndevos: help set up testing steps that incorporate purpleidea and ben E.'s work for easier scale-out testing
15:50 johnmark ndevos: I really need someone to run this thing
15:50 ndevos johnmark: hmm, nightly builds of rpms is not sufficient?
15:51 ndevos I dont think I can spend much more time on things, I still have my real job to do :-/
16:06 johnmark lol
16:06 johnmark ndevos: I know. I wasn't counting on you :)
16:06 johnmark you already do a lot
16:06 ndevos pfew!

16:53 jclift Hey guys, what's a rough estimate for when 3.5 GA might be out.
16:53 jclift Plotting and planning an initial London Meeting for Gluster, and thinking to do it to co-incide with 3.5 release.
16:56 semiosis @3.5 release date
16:56 semiosis oh well
16:57 johnmark gluster.org/35plan
16:57 johnmark but there's currently a '???' be the GA date
16:57 jclift Yeah, that's why I'm asking.
16:58 jclift So, aim for End of Fed maybe, or mid-march.
17:01 hagarth ndevos: not in a repo
17:01 hagarth jclift: am hoping that we can get it out earlier
17:01 hagarth say early Feb
17:01 jclift hagarth: k, thx :)

19:01 kkeithley_ pong
19:02 lalatenduM kkeithley, for 3.4.2 gluster rpms for epel I am looking at http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/3.4/3.4.2/
19:02 kkeithley_ correct
19:03 lalatenduM kkeithley, but for client packages in http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/3.4/3.4.2/RHEL/epel-6Client/x86_64/ i am seeing some server packages , not sure why
19:06 kkeithley_ right  epel-6Client is just a symlink to epel-6, same as epel-6Server and epel-6Workstation. Without making lots of copies and trying to untangle which rpms belong in which...  IOW don't read too much into the fact that it looks like there's an epel-6Client directory
19:07 lalatenduM kkeithley, cool, got it thanks :)

21:00 johnmark ***ANNOUNCE*** GlusterFest starts in T-3hrs - http://gluster.org/gfest
21:05 purpleidea johnmark: should be able to unless some sort of fire happens
21:10 johnmark woohoo
21:10 johnmark purpleidea: next week, you mean?
21:10 johnmark I'll gear up the invite bhy tomorrow then
21:11 purpleidea johnmark: you're talking about me being available wednesday at 2pm EST right?
22:10 johnmark purpleidea: yup
22:22 purpleidea johnmark: you realize that puppet-gluster+vagrant won't automatically pull down the 3.5 test releases because they're not on download.gluster.org as i mentioned last week right?
22:23 purpleidea this was an AI from: http://meetbot.fedoraproject.org/gluster-meeting/2013-12-18/gluster-meeting.2013-12-18-15.00.html
22:24 purpleidea once the QA rpm directory tree format is stable, i can add it to that repo file...
22:24 purpleidea you can still use my system to do all of this, but you'd have to manually add the repositories...
22:25 purpleidea hagarth: ^ maybe i should mention this to you too... if you have a stable format for all the QA releases, we could patch repo.pp
22:26 kkeithley_ purpleidea: ???   3.5.0beta1 are on download.gluster.org at http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/qa-releases/3.5.0beta1/
22:26 kkeithley_ Fedora and RHEL/CentOS. Or you mean Debian/Ubuntu?
22:26 purpleidea kkeithley_: is that stable and permanent?
22:26 purpleidea CentOS
22:26 purpleidea this needs to be patched then:  https://github.com/purpleidea/puppet-gluster/blob/master/manifests/repo.pp#L26
22:27 purpleidea but i thought it would all be merged somehow or something...
22:27 kkeithley_ stable and permanent? it's there. It's not going anywhere.
22:28 johnmark purpleidea: they are on d.g.o
22:28 purpleidea kkeithley_: hmm
22:28 purpleidea kkeithley_: weird, this stuff used to all be on bits.gluster.org ... right? is that done?
22:28 johnmark purpleidea: right. and then we said "that sucks. let's put everything on d.g.o"
22:29 johnmark and thus kkeithley_ made it so :)
22:29 kkeithley_ bits.gluster.org is where the jenkins release builds land. We used to have RPMs, but they were not suitable for general use
22:29 purpleidea johnmark: hm! well puppet-gluster+vagrant at the moment, won't know to look in qa-releases/ folder until i patch repo.pp :P
22:29 johnmark lol... ok
22:29 johnmark purpleidea: you still have 1.5 hours :D
22:29 purpleidea kkeithley_: ah!
22:30 purpleidea are we testing 3.5.0beta1 ?
22:30 kkeithley_ I build the rpms on d.g.o on the Fedora Koji build system. They're suitable for general use
22:31 johnmark purpleidea: yes :)
22:31 purpleidea kkeithley_: also: are there any other rpm folders that will ever be tested or used, or only qa-releases/ ?
22:31 johnmark purpleidea: yeah, I think all betas/pre-releases will go there
22:32 kkeithley_ released versions are at http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/LATEST
22:32 johnmark purpleidea: and if it ever changes, we'll just have ot make a mental note to change a line of code
22:32 johnmark ^^^ which are only GA'd code
22:32 purpleidea kkeithley_: sorry, yeah i already support the LATEST/ stuff and the 3.x series...
22:32 purpleidea johnmark: okay, well, i
22:33 purpleidea 'll have a go at patching this to add qa rpm support. it will cost you another t-shirt. i think that brings your balance to 3 ;)
22:33 johnmark LOL
22:33 johnmark indeed ;)
22:33 purpleidea johnmark: will you be around for a few hours?
22:33 johnmark I will
22:33 purpleidea johnmark: okay, i'll try and send you a little message with the changes and how to use it when it's ready. you can announce however then
22:35 johnmark sweet - thanks!
22:36 kkeithley_ FWIW, "release" RPMs for Fedora are in the Fedora YUM repos, not on download.gluster.org.
22:54 purpleidea kkeithley_: wait, so if someone wants to install 3.4.x where should they be going?
22:54 purpleidea (for CentOS)
22:55 kkeithley_ 3.4.2 (and earlier) release RPMs for RHEL and CentOS are on download.gluster.org
22:56 purpleidea kkeithley_: okay, so nothing has changed there... i _still_ haven't tested/ported puppet-gluster to non-centos yet...
22:56 purpleidea so i'll deal with that then
22:56 kkeithley_ nope
22:59 purpleidea kkeithley_: nope?
22:59 purpleidea http://i.imgur.com/uph7wyC.gif
23:03 kkeithley_ it's the only way to be sure
23:05 purpleidea hehe yeah
23:06 kkeithley_ grr. damn rpm .spec file
23:07 purpleidea yeah, i hate those too.
23:07 kkeithley_ better than what you have to do for dpkgs
23:07 purpleidea kkeithley_: question: in the qa-releases folder, i see the following string postfixes: alpha, beta,qa,rc are there any other patterns to match?
23:08 kkeithley_ that should be all
23:11 purpleidea kkeithley_: all the rpms seem to be 3.5.x-0.1.name.el6 ... is the 0.1 always 0.1 for anything in the qa-releases folder ?
23:13 kkeithley_ 3.5.0-0.X is for qaX, alphaX, betaX, rcX, releases.   3.5.0-1, 3.5.0-2 are GA releases
23:14 kkeithley_ e.g. 3.5.0-0.1.beta1, 3.5.0-0.2.beta1, etc.
23:14 purpleidea kkeithley_: that's what i thought, but then how come: http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/qa-releases/3.5.0qa3/CentOS/epel-6.5/x86_64/
23:14 purpleidea has 0.1 also? i would have expected 0.3
23:15 purpleidea oh
23:15 kkeithley_ yeah, we're ironing things like that out.
23:15 purpleidea why not for future: 3.5.x-0.y-{rc,beta,qa,alpha} ?
23:15 kkeithley_ I think ultimately what we want would be 3.5.0-0.1qa1 ... 3.5.0-0.7.alpha1, ... 3.5.0-0.11.beta1,
23:16 kkeithley_ to make things upgrade nicely.
23:16 purpleidea okay, well at least i know the regexp to write now :)
23:16 kkeithley_ We have a couple people doing packaging. We didn't compare notes before those were built. Sorry for the confusion
23:16 purpleidea no worries
23:16 purpleidea now i have two problems ;)
23:17 purpleidea "^^^"
23:18 kkeithley_ Only two? ;-)
23:18 kkeithley_ you're lucky
23:20 purpleidea kkeithley_: you know, eg: http://regex.info/blog/2006-09-15/247
23:21 kkeithley_ oh yeah, right.
23:21 kkeithley_ and regex golf
23:22 purpleidea https://xkcd.com/1313/
23:22 purpleidea okay, i need to not be distracted and write this thing for johnnyboyant
23:22 purpleidea okay, i need to not be distracted and write this thing for johnnyboy_ant
23:23 johnmark purpleidea: that's josephus ant to you ;)
23:24 purpleidea johnmark: hehe, yeah why "josephus" ? i didn't get that reference
23:25 kkeithley_ okay, you need to not be distracted and write this thing for josephus ant
23:27 purpleidea :P
23:28 purpleidea '^([\d\.]*)(\-(0\.[\d]{1,}\.(alpha|beta|qa|rc)[\d]{1,})\.([a-zA-Z\d]{1,}))?$'
23:28 purpleidea johnmark: can you check that for me? ^
23:42 johnmark purpleidea: ha! uh, no
23:45 kkeithley_ halle-fscking-luiah. finally got 3.5.0beta1 to build on epel7.
23:46 johnmark huh. didn't realize that was such an ordeal
23:47 kkeithley_ I didn't either. latent bug in the spec file that never showed itself until now
23:49 kkeithley_ although not sure why it shows up in epel7 but not in f20 or rawhide
23:53 purpleidea because ghosts
23:57 purpleidea johnmark: okay, i think it's done. just testing for the first time... how long left?
23:59 johnmark purpleidea: 1 minutes :D
23:59 purpleidea phew
23:59 johnmark but I woiuldn't worry too much - not much will happen until tomorrow anyway
