10:08 jamesc|2 Hi we hav e a gluster service that is taking 10 seconds on average to list files via nfs clients. We have a replicated pair of bricks and rebooting one has sped up the directory listings how can we keep this performance
10:19 jamesc|2 Hi does any one know how to cancel a replace brick. Currently the server is paused but when it starts is picks up replacing the brick
10:22 pranithk jamesc|2: which version?
10:24 jamesc|2 version 3.2.7
10:24 pranithk jamesc|2: oh!
10:24 pranithk jamesc|2: Wait, let me check
10:25 pranithk jamesc|2: Just curious, Why not upgrade to at least 3.4.x?
10:25 jamesc|2 That does not seem likley at the mo
10:26 pranithk jamesc|2: There is replace-brick abort...
10:27 pranithk jamesc|2: volume replace-brick <VOLNAME> <BRICK> <NEW-BRICK> {start|pause|abort|status|commit} - replace-brick operations
10:31 jamesc|2 I did that and I get host is not a friend. this doe not work or took to long so I did a peers detatch.
10:33 jamesc|2 pranithk: ^
10:41 pranithk jamesc|2: ah!
10:42 pranithk jamesc|2: I don't know what to do
10:42 jamesc|2 Is there a method to manually abort the replace brick batched operation as this is getting caught up
10:43 jamesc|2 is there a process log that can be edited
10:47 pranithk jamesc|2: If the machine is peer detached how is it able to resume replace-brick?
10:48 jamesc|2 that is the issue. Can we prevent birick replacement upon volume start
10:48 pranithk jamesc|2: Thinking...
10:48 ndevos hi xavih, pranithk: question about disperse - are the data chunks on the bricks stored like stripe, or is each chunk encoded somehow?
10:49 pranithk jamesc|2: We need it to forget that it is doing replace-brick
10:50 jamesc|2 yes
10:50 pranithk jamesc|2: how many machines do you have
10:50 jamesc|2 only two gluster servers
10:51 xavih ndevos: chunks are encoded
10:51 pranithk jamesc|2: good, could you compress /var/lib/glusterd on both the machines and give me to take a look
10:51 ndevos xavih: okay, thanks :)
10:51 xavih ndevos: currently ec uses a non-systematic matrix that avoids any fragment to be equal to the original data
10:52 xavih ndevos: this will probably change (I'm working on it)
10:52 ndevos xavih: oh, okay, interesting!
10:53 pranithk jamesc|2: wait, I think in that version may be that directory is /etc/glusterd
10:54 jamesc|2 ye thats what I presumed just fetching it
10:54 pranithk jamesc|2: Cool.
11:04 jamesc|2 pranithk: I think i offered to send it?
11:14 pranithk jamesc|2: yep, receiving...
11:14 pranithk jamesc|2: it is waiting for transfer to begin
11:17 pranithk jamesc|2: The download doesn't start :-(
11:17 pranithk jamesc|2: I cancelled the other one too
11:18 pranithk jamesc|2: could we retry?
11:18 jamesc|2 it dos not work for some reason try this link https://owncloud.jamescordell.servehttp.com/public.php?service=files&t=1afb04bd344d91ee728216c47655da4c
11:18 jamesc|2 and this one https://owncloud.jamescordell.servehttp.com/public.php?service=files&t=dbd6e8256b033773d9dd1da4bc4e8d72

11:20 pranithk jamesc|2: got gluster-1
11:20 pranithk jamesc|2: my pidgin crashed just now, could you resend the link to gluster-2....
11:21 jamesc|2 this is two https://owncloud.jamescordell.servehttp.com/public.php?service=files&t=dbd6e8256b033773d9dd1da4bc4e8d72
11:23 pranithk jamesc|2: got them, going through them...
11:23 jamesc|2 pranithk: Thanks
11:28 pranithk jamesc|2: You need to delete rbstate file and change the mirror.in-nfs01.data.vol file
11:28 pranithk jamesc|2: wait
11:28 pranithk jamesc|2: I will give you updated file
11:29 jamesc|2 ok thanks

11:31 jamesc|2 Should this be done when glusterd is running or when volumes are on line?
11:31 pranithk jamesc|2: no, take glusterd, bricks, down
11:31 pranithk jamesc|2: http://paste.fedoraproject.org/178300/26174671/
11:33 pranithk jamesc|2: delete that rbstate file also, you need to do it on both the machines
11:43 pranithk jamesc|2: I need to leave for home... is it working fine now?

16:52 JoeJulian Can we get someone to set up the same upstream mirror that exists for glusterfs in gerrit to github and the forge, for http://review.gluster.org/#/admin/projects/gluster-nagios-common , http://review.gluster.org/#/admin/projects/gluster-nagios-addons , and http://review.gluster.org/#/admin/projects/nagios-server-addons ?

16:58 semiosis kkeithley: i started working on a fully automated deb builder for ubuntu & debian
16:59 semiosis the trick was gpg keys without passphrases
16:59 semiosis and clever scripting of dch & pbuilder-dist commands
16:59 semiosis s/clever/careful/

20:58 JoeJulian semiosis: can you share that process please? I could use the same gpg key concepts with arch builds.
20:59 semiosis JoeJulian: sure, but it's all put away on my laptop at the moment. i can answer questions now though
20:59 semiosis the gpg stuff was pretty basic, i just made a new key and left the passphrase blank
21:00 JoeJulian Oh, I thought it didn't allow that.
21:00 JoeJulian Well that's easy enough then.
21:00 semiosis it warned me
21:00 semiosis you can find articles about how to change the passphrase on an existing key (just change it to empty)
21:01 semiosis iirc it was gpg --edit-key $KEYID; passwd; ...some interactive stuff...; save
