07:00 kshlm But https://review.gluster.org/10577 the backport has passed both regressions.

07:18 * tigert is going through the http://www.gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Planning37#Feature_proposal_for_GlusterFS_3.7
07:18 tigert is this now something that is also currently going to end into 3.7?
07:19 tigert or ended in, not certain of the release status :)
07:29 Gaurav_ kshlm, could you merge this http://review.gluster.org/#/c/10597/    as its already in master http://review.gluster.org/#/c/10391/
07:31 lalatenduM joined #gluster-dev
07:34 kshlm Gaurav_, that is not a GlusterD change, so I will not be merging it.
07:39 hagarth can anybody see this - https://draftin.com/documents/654107 ?
07:40 hagarth kshlm: ^^ ?
07:45 hagarth figure not unless you have a login
07:48 hagarth first draft of 3.7 release notes here - https://public.pad.fsfe.org/p/gluster-3.7-release-notes
07:49 hagarth please review and edit inline
07:49 hagarth tigert: this could help in understanding what is getting into 3.7 :)
07:49 tigert ok
07:49 tigert because
07:49 tigert http://glusternew-tigert.rhcloud.com/
07:49 tigert I want to write up something short about the new release on the left column
07:50 tigert then the center column is summit
07:50 tigert and the right one could be about community maybe
07:50 tigert or do you have good ideas?

09:02 tigert ndevos: what would you think is the biggest hilight of gluster 3.7 release?
09:03 ndevos tigert: NFS, of course!
09:03 ndevos and not NFS-Ganesha, but Gluster/NFS :D
09:03 tigert explain? :)
09:03 * ndevos maintains that part ;-)
09:03 * tigert doesnt know gluster too well
09:04 ndevos tigert: but, to be honoust, I think users are most interested in bitrot, erasure-coding and data-tiering
09:04 tigert bitrot I can understand
09:05 ndevos tigert: integration with NFS-Ganesha (and clustering with pacemaker) is rather a big feature too, NFSv4 and Kerberos support with multiple NFS-servers
09:06 xrsanet ndevos: GlusterFS already supports NFS, what extra features does 3.7 bring HA?
09:06 xrsanet ndevos: Ah
09:09 tigert ndevos: so was there previously an in-house nfs server in gluster and now it does this via nfs-ganesha?
09:10 * tigert tries to read and understand :)

09:29 krishnan_p kshlm, gerrit Gods have been appeased, I have been allowed to enter the portals of review.gluster.org ;-)
09:38 gem__ joined #gluster-dev
09:43 ndevos tigert, xrsanet: Gluster/NFS will still be the default NFS-server, but there is an option to replace it with NFS-Ganesha now
09:43 ndevos tigert, xrsanet: NFS-Ganesha is a different project, very much to how Gluster works with Samba
09:44 ndevos and, NFS-Ganesha supports more advanced/new features than Gluster/NFS, NFSv4 and Kerberos are the main ones that users would like to see
09:49 kshlm krishnan_p, Didn't see you message here. So I went ahead and merged it.
09:54 soumya hagarth, - 'NFSv4' Support for lease locks and delegations is not present in 3.7.0.. it is now targetted to next minor release

10:00 soumya ndevos, okay..was thinking if we need to add infrastructure changes to support NFSv4 ACLs
10:05 soumya hagarth, please merge http://review.gluster.org/10486  ... couple of our patches depend on this patch
10:05 hagarth do we support NFSv4 ACLs with 3.7.0?
10:05 hagarth soumya: will check
10:06 pranithk rafi: http://build.gluster.org/job/rackspace-regression-2GB-triggered/8571/consoleFull
10:06 soumya hagarth, looks like it is in PM plan to support NFSv4 ACLs..not sure about the status :)
10:07 hagarth soumya: what is missing in the gluster - ganesha integration for supporting NFSv4 ACLs?
10:07 soumya we need changes on Ganesha side.. ndevos has already taken care of changes on Gluster side
10:07 hagarth soumya: ok, would that be in our fsal?
10:07 soumya ndevos, ^^^ any comments?
10:08 soumya hagarth, right
10:08 nishanth joined #gluster-dev
10:09 ndevos soumya, hagarth: gfapi supports POSIX-ACLs, it is up to NFS-Ganesha to use the new API for those
10:09 hagarth ndevos: maybe we should mention about gfapi supporting posix acls in minor improvements?
10:09 ndevos at the moment, Anand S. is working on the implementation in Ganesha, maybe with help from jiffin
10:09 hagarth ndevos: ok
10:10 ndevos hagarth: we could, but it really is not something I see as useful information to users
10:11 hagarth ndevos: maybe in some way .. if somebody wants to use this for their own NFSv4 implementation ;)
10:12 soumya ndevos, hagarth ..In addition I remember SMB team planning to use these new APIs to support ACLs..not sure if anything has been decided on that front
10:13 hagarth soumya: ok
10:13 ndevos soumya: yeah, I also do not know - at the moment we only have a handle-based API, not sure if that is sufficient for them

14:32 ndevos dlambrig_: below that indention, only Change-Id, BUG and Signed-off-by should be needed, the other bits get added by Gerrit when the patch gets merged
14:33 dlambrig_ for indented change-id, do you copy from the original commit message?
14:40 dlambrig_ I will indent the old change id which comes from having cherry picked the fix. I assume a new change-id will be added by Gerrit.
14:43 dlambrig_ Done, and hopefully, http://review.gluster.org/#/c/10647 is correctly done.
14:44 ndevos dlambrig_: yeah, thats ok, you can use the same change-id as the original patch
14:44 ndevos dlambrig_: you only need one Signed-off-by line below the indented block, and root@localhost.localdomain does not need to be there ;-)
14:45 dlambrig_ got it ;)
14:47 ndevos dlambrig_: because you changed the change-id of your patch, commit http://review.gluster.org/#/c/10615/ can be abandoned
14:47 ndevos a change-id is unique for a patch per branch
14:49 dlambrig_ 10615 was only an example to ask the question. Not related to 10647.
14:50 ndevos ah, ok :)
14:50 ndevos I did not read the message, only the tags
14:51 dlambrig_ np - thanks for the help :)

15:31 ndevos soumya, hagarth: it would be nice to have the google hangout sessions linked from the release notes :)
15:31 kshlm Nope, I'm just updating the blog.

15:36 kshlm hagarth, should be back online.
15:36 kshlm I was trying to get comments on the blog, but looks like I failed.
15:37 hagarth kshlm: ok
15:42 hagarth kshlm: the access seems quite slow
15:43 kshlm It's almost instantaneous for me.

15:44 hagarth interesting .. it could be a browser cache problem for me
15:45 kshlm The blog is mostly text. It should be really fast.

15:46 hagarth kshlm: can you try posting it in facebook? do you get a preview of the blog?

15:49 kshlm facebook is giving a 503 error for the blog. :-/
15:51 hagarth kshlm: yeah, was trying to share your post on fb/gluster
15:51 kshlm looks like facebook cached the page when the site was down
15:52 hagarth kshlm: quite possible
15:54 kshlm hagarth, check facebook now.
15:55 kshlm It should work now. Used a facebook open-graph debugger to perform a fresh scrape.
15:55 hagarth kshlm: cool

16:01 hagarth ndevos: have you noticed that bitergia stats update is stalled?
16:01 ndevos hagarth: I did not check recently, but it was stalled a few weeks back
16:02 ndevos hagarth: JustinClift mentioned he should provide new data to bitergia, or something like that, I dont know how the stats are gathered
16:03 hagarth ndevos: oh ok. JustinClift, any updates here?
16:04 * hagarth heads for dinner
16:04 ndevos enjoy, hagarth!

16:30 JustinClift ndevos hagarth: The Bitergia stats stuff is what I'm looking at atm
16:31 JustinClift I'm about to adjust our log file format on www.gluster.org (not download.gluster.org), as I need a box to generate some logs in a new (more accurate) log format that's not download.gluster.org.
16:32 JustinClift The current log (default) log format doesn't accurately show the # of bytes transferred per request.  So it can lead to some pretty bogus numbers.
16:35 JustinClift Ahhh, there's a log format for that already defined.  It just needs to be turned on.
16:35 JustinClift Cool

16:50 JustinClift The log format looks pretty sane after the change.  I'll apply it to download.gluster.org now too.
