10:22 anoopcs post-factum, Were you able to create tar balls wit dist target?
10:32 post-factum anoopcs: i believe i should do some autotools trickery before make dist
10:32 anoopcs post-factum, Yes..yes.
10:32 post-factum > I saw a book entitled "Die GNU Autotools" and I thought "My feelings exactly". Turns out the book was in German.
10:32 post-factum sorry ;)
10:34 anoopcs post-factum, ./autogen.sh and ./configure is all what to need to get required Makefile targets.
10:34 anoopcs s/to need/you need
10:35 post-factum anoopcs: yep, but my local distro is arch, and python2 is not detected
10:35 post-factum probably, there is some option for ./configre
10:35 post-factum ./configure
10:35 anoopcs Really?
10:36 post-factum checking if python is python 2.x... no ← first
10:36 post-factum which is obvious as 3 is arch default
10:36 post-factum configure: error: only python 2.x is supported
10:36 post-factum second
10:36 post-factum which is not obvious, because python2 is installed here
10:36 atinm joined #gluster-dev
10:37 post-factum and ./configure --help | grep python tells nothing
10:37 anoopcs post-factum, I don't think we have a configure option for python
10:37 post-factum i know JoeJulian use arch and he definitely knows the answer
10:37 post-factum oh, we have pkgbuilds as well... let me look
10:38 post-factum ./configure PYTHON=python2
10:38 post-factum sure
10:38 post-factum how obvious
10:38 anoopcs post-factum, I think kshlm is on arch.
10:40 anoopcs We just need to make sure that required binaries/headers are available in standard paths(or user configured paths) while running configure script
10:40 post-factum yep, make dist now generates some tarball. will try to use it
10:40 post-factum thanks
10:40 post-factum autotools--
10:40 glusterbot post-factum: autotools's karma is now -1
10:41 post-factum cmake++
10:41 glusterbot post-factum: cmake's karma is now 0
10:41 anoopcs Cool.
10:42 post-factum anoopcs++
10:42 glusterbot post-factum: anoopcs's karma is now 26
10:45 post-factum it seems plain make dist didn't do the right trick
10:45 post-factum config.status: error: cannot find input file: `rpc/rpc-transport/rdma/Makefile.in'
10:45 post-factum hmm
10:49 anoopcs autogen script generates Makefile.in from Makefile.am using automake from autotools.
10:50 anoopcs But you already decreased karma for autotools.. :-P
10:51 post-factum i have some positive experience in replacing tons of custom-brewed makefiles with nitty-gritty cmake
10:53 anoopcs Hmm.
10:58 Manikandan kshlm, there is a patch waiting for your review, http://review.gluster.org/#/c/14000/
11:00 kshlm post-factum, Are you going to try replacing the GlusterFS makefiles using CMake?
11:00 kshlm I tried once, but didn't proceed much after it turned out to not be a simple job.
11:02 kshlm post-factum, And also for Arch Linux you'll need to add a 'LEXLIB=' to the configure line. Otherwise the build system tries to link with flex and fails.
11:02 kshlm An issue with the newer flex in Arch linux.

11:25 post-factum kshlm: no, I try to make dist tarball on arch to build rpm on centos
11:25 pranithk joined #gluster-dev
11:26 kshlm post-factum, PYTHON=python2 should be enough for that. I do it all the time.
11:26 post-factum i've been using linux for 13 years (just to imagine, half of my life), and still no idea how autotools work
11:26 post-factum kshlm: yep, but I've got the following error on centos while running rpmbuild:
11:26 post-factum config.status: error: cannot find input file: `rpc/rpc-transport/rdma/Makefile.in'
11:26 post-factum it seems make dist on arch didn't do smth important
11:27 kshlm Ah, you need to have rdmacm and libibverbs installed on Arch.
11:27 kshlm They're available from AUR.
11:28 kshlm configure skips generating makefiles for rdma if the libraries are not found.
11:28 post-factum oh :(
11:33 Manikandan joined #gluster-dev
11:34 post-factum kshlm: should i add LEXLIB= for ./configure?
11:34 kshlm Not unless you want to build on archlinux itself.
11:34 kshlm If you're just creating tarballs, it shouldn't be needed.
11:34 post-factum i don't want. a have pkgbuild for that =)
11:34 post-factum just for tarball
11:35 post-factum *i have
11:35 kshlm That reminds me, I should update the glusterfs-git pkgbuild on AUR. It's been ages since I updated it.
11:36 post-factum kshlm: ages... then it was simply removed after transition to aur4
11:36 kshlm Just checked. That's what has happened.
11:37 kshlm I had a todo written down some place to do the migration, and I remember kind of doing it.
11:37 kshlm Was it aur4 that moved to using git repos?
11:37 post-factum correct
11:38 kshlm Then I'm sure I did it.
11:38 kshlm I remember doing it when both were running side by side.
11:38 kshlm I thought that was enough.
11:38 post-factum but no glusterfs-git as far as i can see
11:38 kshlm I'll upload it again later today.
11:41 post-factum + exit 0
11:41 post-factum yay, it worked
11:41 post-factum kshlm++
11:41 glusterbot post-factum: kshlm's karma is now 79

12:57 hgichon Hi guys... i have a question with storage.o-direct option
12:59 hgichon If set above option, then file copy error ocurred with closing fd error
13:01 hgichon In read, open fd is not closed and finally glusterfsd should get sigterm (too many file opens)
13:02 hgichon glusterfs version is 3.7.11
13:03 hgichon I patched from http://review.gluster.org/#/c/13529/
13:06 hgichon My storage server have attached many ssd, and i need sustained io.
13:07 post-factum hgichon: do you really need that option in production? it hasn't been merged yet
13:07 hgichon In poc testing..
13:09 hgichon In Directio, good sustained performance.

13:11 post-factum hgichon: probably, you could just lower vm.dirty_bytes and vm.dirty_background_bytes on gluster server

13:14 hgichon Is there any method bypass page cache? ... i have tried sys/vm tunning. But in many concuernt environment... that is not show good result..

13:18 post-factum for glusterfsd processes
13:18 post-factum or maybe there could be another solution :)
