06:36 post-factum should I add test for http://review.gluster.org/#/c/14399/ under tests/bugs/glusterfs?
06:36 hchiramm joined #gluster-dev
06:37 post-factum or, likely, tests/bugs/fuse?

08:12 ndevos post-factum: yes, a test case would be good, check if the parameter is accepted and maybe also verify that it got set under /proc/...
08:12 post-factum ndevos: i mean, is tests/bugs/fuse the right place for it?
08:13 ndevos post-factum: not really, we can not test the mount.glusterfs script with the test framework :-/
08:13 post-factum ndevos: hmm, okay, then what the test should be?
08:14 ndevos post-factum: well, actually it does not really matter where you put it, it would be valid for fuse anyway
08:14 post-factum ndevos: ok then, thx
08:16 anoopcs ndevos, https://review.gluster.org/#/c/14457/
08:16 ndevos anoopcs: yeah, I'll get to patches later today, catching up on emails now
08:17 anoopcs anoopcs, Ok.
08:33 ndevos ppai, hchiramm: I have a presentation that needs to get added to the docs, can you remind me of the current workflow?
08:34 karthik___ joined #gluster-dev
08:37 ndevos anoopcs: how far are you in the process for including glusterfs-coreutils in Fedora? Can I take that .spec and push it into the CentOS Storage SIG already?
08:39 jiffin joined #gluster-dev
08:50 anoopcs ndevos, kkeithley have assigned himself the review-request.
08:50 Bhaskarakiran joined #gluster-dev
08:50 ppai ndevos, upload it to any presentation hosting SaaS of your choice OR mail it to amy and she'll upload it to official gluster slideshare account. Send a PR with links to the presentation.
08:50 anoopcs misc also had a look at it.
08:51 anoopcs ndevos, No major concerns raised as of now.
08:51 ndevos anoopcs: ok, thanks, I'll just include it for now, and will update it in case you need to adjust something
08:51 anoopcs I can poke him again to have his fedora-review+
08:52 ndevos ppai: is storing the presentation on people.redhat.com/ndevos/.. acceptible?
08:52 misc anoopcs: I did ?
08:52 ppai ndevos, any URL publicly accessible should do
08:53 ndevos ppai: that would be available while I work at Red Hat, if I ever decide to leave the talks will be inaccessible
08:54 anoopcs misc, I mean in order to take it forward we need ACK on BZ, right?
08:54 misc anoopcs: yeah, but what bug are we talking about ?
08:54 misc (I am just waking up so I am not fully operational)
08:54 anoopcs misc, Review-request for glusterfs-coreutils package: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1331704
08:54 glusterbot Bug 1331704: medium, medium, ---, kkeithle, ASSIGNED , Review Request: glusterfs-coreutils - Mimics standard Linux coreutils for GlusterFS clusters
08:54 ppai ndevos, well, that's true. In that case, mailing to amy would be preferred.
08:55 ndevos ppai: hmm, ok
08:55 ppai ndevos, this should be documented somewhere, I'll do it.
08:56 jiffin joined #gluster-dev
08:57 misc anoopcs: yeah, I think I didn't touch since kkeithley did it :)
08:57 ndevos ppai: how about: 1. <presenter> posts talk on the internet somewhere, 2. <presenter> send a pull request for the presentations page, 3. patch gets merged with modification pointing to Gluster copies of the presentation
08:58 ndevos ppai: step 3. would be done by amye, or someone else that can upload presentations to the slideshare(?) account
08:59 anoopcs misc, You are always free to take it up. :-)
08:59 ppai ndevos, I'm not entirely comfortable with step 3. If speakers have a slideshare or speakerdeck or their own hosting site, we should just be able to use it without thinking about possibility of the said link being dead in future
09:00 misc I am not sure how relevent would presentations be in a 5 year time
09:01 ndevos ppai: dead links is one thing, but having a single location that contains most (if not all) presentations would be good, and Google finds slideshare accounts pretty well
09:01 misc (also, i am not sure that all slides would be useful most of the time, vs a good well written doc/article)
09:01 atalur joined #gluster-dev
09:03 gem joined #gluster-dev
09:04 ppai ndevos, Correct. But speakers should have choice to choose either. Some may not prefer to have copies made.
09:06 ppai ndevos, On a totally unrelated note - BZs filed against mainline and in MODIFIED state, should those be closed as "Fixed in 3.8rc2" ?
09:07 ndevos ppai: ok, I dont have a strong opinion about copying the slides, I was merely wondering :)
09:08 ndevos ppai: no, I'm waiting for hagarth or amye to send out a notification to the users, and will then move all BZs to ON_QA, once 3.8.0 GA is released all bugs will be closed
09:08 post-factum ndevos: http://termbin.com/odv7
09:08 post-factum ndevos: will that work?
09:08 ndevos ppai: was that CLOSED suggestion done in the "incorrect bug status email"?
09:09 ppai ndevos, yeah
09:09 ppai ndevos, I check those mails regularly and the suggestion did not seem quite right this time :/
09:09 ndevos ppai: could you please reply to that email? I need to correct the script then
09:10 ppai ndevos, sure
09:10 ndevos post-factum: yeah, it should work, but you do need to start glusterd too, create a volume and do a umount after each time you mount
09:11 post-factum ndevos: hmhm ok let me fix that
09:11 ndevos post-factum: also, what is the "Check invalid positive value" ?
09:12 post-factum ndevos: value > OOM_SCORE_MAX
09:12 post-factum ndevos: which is 1000
09:12 ndevos post-factum: ah, ok, maybe make the comment a little clearer :)
09:12 post-factum ndevos: okay, will do
09:18 post-factum ndevos: http://termbin.com/gprm
09:19 ndevos post-factum: looks good to me
09:19 post-factum ndevos: ok, will upload new patch revision

09:55 nigelb misc: Good news - I have a working gerrit ansible role :)
10:23 kdhananjay poornimag++
10:23 glusterbot kdhananjay: poornimag's karma is now 8
10:37 nigelb misc: what's the primary place for the ansible configuration? i.e. where can I send a pull request you can review?
10:38 nigelb It needs quite a lot of work, but I have a starting point.
10:47 rraja joined #gluster-dev
10:48 misc nigelb: on github I guess
10:48 misc nigelb: if you want a separate role, taht's fine too
10:48 misc (in fact, i would likely prefer a separate repo)
10:49 nigelb misc: the repo says "read only configuration"
10:49 nigelb which is why I asked.
10:49 misc nigelb: yeah, but I can review :)
10:49 nigelb ah, yes.
10:49 misc I just do not merge this way
10:49 nigelb Noted.
10:49 misc but yeah, that's something where I didn't give much time to have a proper setup :/
10:50 misc you can pull PR in cli, so I can merge on my laptop and push
10:50 misc but I guess we can discuss a proper workflow later
10:53 rraja joined #gluster-dev
10:55 nigelb misc: https://github.com/nigelbabu/ansible-gerrit
10:55 nigelb feel free to file bugs onto the repo
10:55 nigelb and I'll fix them one by one.
10:55 nigelb I haven't figured out how we'd deal with the password in a shared but secure manner.
10:55 nigelb Ansible vault?
11:06 misc nigelb: I just use a separate private repo
11:06 misc nigelb: https://github.com/OSAS/ansible-role-ansible_bastion
11:09 kdhananjay1 joined #gluster-dev
11:13 nigelb ah
11:15 misc nigelb: but let's just say the passwd issue is solved
11:15 nigelb yeah.
11:16 nigelb So far I'm assuming centos 7, I should probably hard fail if it's not centos 7.
11:16 nigelb And I'm not sure if the postgres setup needs to be included in the role or done separately.
11:17 misc mhh, I would do it separate
11:17 nigelb It doesn't setup apache or nginx for reverse proxy.
11:17 nigelb and I need to look into whether the bouncy castle stuff is being handled correctly.
11:17 nigelb I think it isn't.
11:18 nigelb It's a good start, but needs more refining.
11:19 Manikandan joined #gluster-dev
11:20 kdhananjay joined #gluster-dev
11:25 misc I would place reverse proxy in a separate role, we have that in the httpd role
11:25 misc so they can be combined
11:25 nigelb oh okay.
11:26 nigelb so this one basically needs the generic postgres bits stripped out, bouncy castle stuff addd, extensions added.
11:26 nigelb (that's my current todo list)
