07:03 post-factum will 3.8 el7 rpms be available from sig only?
07:04 post-factum ndevos: ^^
07:06 anoopcs post-factum, I think so.
07:11 ndevos post-factum: yes, that is the plan
07:12 post-factum anoopcs: ndevos: ok thx
07:12 ndevos post-factum: and I guess the el6 packages too :)
07:12 post-factum it's a shame that someone still cares about el6 :(
07:14 pkalever joined #gluster-dev
07:15 ndevos post-factum: well, I wanted to build them yesterday, but the centos buidl system changed (added i686) and some dependencies (i686 builds) are missing...
07:16 * ndevos needs to get the x86_64 only filter removed from some of the builds now....

09:06 nigelb General question - Have we noticed Gerrit randomly going down ever since the upgrade?
09:10 misc no one told me about it

10:34 ndevos anoopcs: glusterfs-coreutils failed to build on el6, I'll check that after I come back from lunch, but you may want to look at it before me? http://cbs.centos.org/kojifiles/work/tasks/6824/96824/build.log
10:34 ndevos anoopcs: I guess some macro is undefined, causing the %files section to be incorrect
10:36 nigelb Is there a process we do to confirm that the build actually works?
10:37 nigelb especially pre-relase
10:37 nigelb (mostly curious, and also looking to see if that can be automated)

11:06 kkeithley nigelb: isn't that what the various glusterfs-*rpms-* jenkins jobs do?
11:07 nigelb kkeithley: No, I mean how do you confirm that when you install it, it works.
11:07 * kkeithley wonders why thos jobs aren't listed in the "gluster only" tab
11:07 kkeithley s/thos/those/
11:07 kshlm nigelb, Right now, those are manual jobs.
11:07 nigelb okay.
11:08 nigelb how difficult will it be to automate those?
11:08 kshlm That were supposed to be done by the release manager, but now being distributed among component-maintainers
11:09 kshlm Don't know how hard it would be, because we don't even have any officially recognized such tests yet.
11:09 kshlm That's something we need to do.
11:10 kshlm For now, each maintainer does tests that they feel verify the stability of the component.
11:10 kkeithley In some ways it'd be better if the regression tests were run from installed rpms instead of a `make install`.   Cleaning up by removing the rpms might be less error prone.
11:10 nigelb kshlm: I'm curious if we can assemble all the tests into one place
11:10 nigelb and run them every night
11:11 nigelb so we know if we're in a state fit to release.
11:11 kkeithley There's even a regression test rpm
11:11 kshlm nigelb, We were planning to do that in the centos-ci infra that we have access to. But we haven't written the required tests yet.
11:11 kshlm kkeithley that is something that could possibly be done.
11:12 nigelb Assembling the bash scripts (or whatever language) scripts with tests would be a good start.
11:12 kshlm We get rpms automatically build by the *devrpms jobs each time a patch is submitted.
11:13 kshlm nigelb, That would be python. We plan to use DiSTAF (Distributed Testing Automation Framework) which is a python framework.
11:13 nigelb Even better, then.

11:44 ndevos nigelb: we have a few jobs, but it is rather limited at the moment: https://ci.centos.org/view/Gluster/
11:45 ndevos nigelb: if you have scripts that install RPMs from the release repository, and then update to the ones from -testing, I'm happy to put them in a Jenkins job :)
11:45 ndevos kkeithley: that reminds me, did you read through my email about nfs-ganesha testing?
11:46 kkeithley ndevos: I have, but haven't had any cycles to do anything with it yet

11:47 ndevos kkeithley: thats fine, I'll just wait for your questions then :)

14:37 anoopcs ndevos, There are some tests using bats testing framework inside the sources.
14:39 anoopcs ndevos, From my previous knowledge even those tests partially ran successful.
14:39 anoopcs There were some failures for each test corresponding to each coreutility
14:40 anoopcs (excluding flock.t) :-)
14:45 ndevos anoopcs: ah, cool, we're running something similar for libgfapi-python
14:45 ndevos anoopcs: if you want to assist, check https://ci.centos.org/view/Gluster/job/gluster_libgfapi-python/ and mainly https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs-patch-acceptance-tests/tree/master/centos-ci/libgfapi-python
14:46 ndevos anoopcs: the run-test.sh script is the most important for it
14:50 anoopcs ndevos, Ok. Before that I will have to take a look at the failures and fix it upstream so that we can confidently integrate it with ci.

16:22 kkeithley semiosis: ping, you around?  Launchpad PPA build on xenial question
16:28 kkeithley JoeJulian: are you a Debian/Ubuntu guy now? Maybe you know the answer?
16:30 JoeJulian No! I'm just about anything but an Ubuntu guy. I can try to help though.
16:31 nigelb kkeithley: I could *maybe* help.
16:32 nigelb it's been a few years since I diganosed a build failure, but I can look
16:33 nigelb I'm guessing this is the failure you want help with https://launchpadlibrarian.net/265242143/buildlog_ubuntu-xenial-amd64.glusterfs_3.8.0-ubuntu1~xenial1_BUILDING.txt.gz
16:33 kkeithley you read my mind
16:34 nigelb So, in wiley, glupy is in dist-packages
16:34 nigelb in xenial, it's in site-packages
16:34 nigelb that seems to where the build starts failing.
16:34 kkeithley 3.7.11 built fine for xenial...
16:36 nigelb ooh
16:36 * nigelb looks at logs
16:36 kkeithley glupy in 3.7.x on xenial is where
16:36 nigelb i'm looking now
16:37 nigelb In 3.7, it's in dist-packages
16:37 nigelb 3.7 log https://launchpadlibrarian.net/254352522/buildlog_ubuntu-xenial-amd64.glusterfs_3.7.11-ubuntu1~xenial1_BUILDING.txt.gz

16:39 * nigelb -> bed
16:42 * kkeithley wonders how it worked for 3.7.11
16:42 kkeithley but whatevs
16:44 semiosis kkeithley: i'm around but busy for the next couple hours
16:45 kkeithley semiosis: I think I've got a handle on the problem
