01:27 nigelb vbellur: any luck with debugging the smoke failure?
01:27 * misc see that nigelb is awake and so time to sleep
01:29 nigelb heh
01:52 vbellur nigelb: yes, i can see that the problem is due to write-behind
01:52 vbellur nigelb: however RCA is still elusive
01:55 nigelb ouch
01:56 nigelb Shall I take the machine back or do you still want to cotinue to look at it?
02:00 vbellur nigelb: I think I will try a custom patch to get more information on why this is happening .. so you can take this machine back
02:00 vbellur I've already copied out the statedumps
02:05 nigelb okay.

03:57 atinm joined #gluster-dev
03:57 nigelb vbellur: hrm, do you want to do that for all smoke tests going forward?
03:57 nigelb Or a trial run today to see if that stops the errors?
03:58 nigelb The lattery, I can do today evening around when we were testing last night.
03:58 nigelb It's reasonably quiet time to make test changes.
04:00 vbellur nigelb: we can start with a trial run. If the problem doesn't happen we can possibly have all smoke tests go through with write-behind disabled till we address the problem.
04:00 vbellur nigelb: we are hampered a bit this week by not having raghug around for this write-behind problem.
04:01 vbellur I will see how we can proceed further when I get an uninterrupted block of time this week..
04:03 nigelb I'll do a trial run later today and if all is well, deploy it on all machines.
04:05 vbellur nigelb: sounds good, thanks!

13:32 kkeithley wrt community packages and making things easy for the volunteers (cough) who build community packages.
13:33 kkeithley it sure would be nice if my patches to fix the build on Debian+Ubuntu could get some reviews.
13:33 kshlm nigelb, Do you know of a good url shortner that can give customizable urls?
13:34 kshlm The hackmd urls are not human friendly.

14:42 kkeithley you need an account to do custom short urls on bit.ly
14:42 nigelb oh yeah, I have an account.
14:42 nigelb I can create a custom URL if you'd like.
15:01 JoeJulian Sure, I'll file that. Funny thing, if you google quanrantine there's a huge number of pages with that.

16:48 semiosis cholcombe: I dont have any current information on the status of getting glusterfs into ubuntu main.  i made some effort toward it a couple years ago and haven't looked at it since.
16:48 cholcombe semiosis, ok
16:49 cholcombe yeah it's been kinda here and there for years
16:53 semiosis cholcombe: what would having glusterfs in main do for you?  how is the current PPA arrangement insufficient?
16:54 cholcombe semiosis, so having it in main allows other things in main to include gluster and build against it.  I think the example i was given was qemu.  The qemu in main doesn't include gluster support
16:54 cholcombe having it in main also subjects it to security checks from the team.  :)
17:13 ashiq joined #gluster-dev
17:19 kkeithley I'm able to build nfs-ganesha with gluster support in the ppa
17:20 kkeithley let's see, how did I do that
17:21 kkeithley Edit PPA Dependencies, in the upper right corner of the page.
17:22 kkeithley Then Add PPA dependency: in the lower left
17:22 kkeithley qemu could do the same thing.
17:23 kkeithley but probably qemu in main won't pull from PPA
17:23 kkeithley I'd guess
17:25 kkeithley Okay, I just changed  the .../LATEST symlink on download.gluster.org. It now points at .../3.9/3.9.0
17:25 kkeithley If you want to stay on 3.8.x, change LATEST in any package repo meta files to LTM-3.8

18:22 kkeithley The new pkg signing key for 3.9 means that someone who is using the old key will not be able to update to 3.9 because the signature check will fail.
19:05 kkeithley The new pkg signing key for 3.9 means that someone who is using the old key will not be able to update to 3.9 because the signature check will fail.
19:05 kkeithley assuming that they have signature checking enabled
