06:40 ppai kshlm, can you trigger CI tests on gd2 PRs ?
06:41 kshlm ppai, I was just checking how to do that.

06:49 kshlm I just set that up.
06:49 kshlm Anyone in the gluster org can trigger.

10:17 ndevos pranithk1, xavih: did you get anything useful from the EC call?
10:18 pkalever|lunch left #gluster-dev
10:18 pranithk1 ndevos: yes, there is a possibility of decreasing network traffic using what they are suggesting. Rest I don't know enough to understand. xavih understood more.
10:19 xavih ndevos: basically they have explained their special requirements for a plugin to work well with their erasure code algorithm
10:20 xavih ndevos: it seems relatively easy to satisfy those requirements
10:21 ndevos xavih: ok, sounds cool, anything about liberasure?
10:21 xavih ndevos: we haven't talked about liberasure, and I haven't had time to analyze the interfaces yet...
10:22 ndevos xavih: right, I understood that liberasure does not allow the advanced features that they have in their library, so I expect the interface to be a little simpler
10:23 ndevos xavih: they do support liberasure, just with limited features
10:24 ndevos xavih: could you send a (short) summary or notes of the discussion to the mailinglist?

10:35 ndevos nigelb: could you take care of this one for me? Bug 1430303 - Allow Jiffin to merge patches to the glusterfs/release-3.8 branch
10:35 glusterbot Bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com:443/show_bug.cgi?id=1430303 unspecified, unspecified, ---, bugs, NEW , Allow Jiffin to merge patches to the glusterfs/release-3.8 branch

10:42 kshlm ndevos, I added a script to close EOL bugs. Can you take a look at PR? https://github.com/gluster/release-tools/pull/12
10:45 nigelb ndevos: 3.8 doesn't have any special permissions. He should be able to do them if he can merge onto master.
10:46 nigelb ndevos: If he can't merge onto master, please get ack from Vijay + Amye onto the bug.
10:47 ndevos nigelb: hmm, no he does not have that, it should only be applied for the release-3.8 branch... is that not possible?
10:48 nigelb It's granting commit access to gluster to someone who doesn't have it. And we don't have a process for it.
10:48 nigelb So I'm not working around the lack of a process.
10:49 ndevos but setting up the "special permissions" for release-3.8 should not be a problem?
10:49 * ndevos just hates to be the SPOF for 3.8 releases
10:49 nigelb Er, why don't you ask someone else who does have commit access for help?
10:50 ndevos well, jiffin is listed as the co-maintainer for 3.8
10:50 nigelb So it shouldn't be difficult to get sign off from Vijay and Amye.
10:50 nigelb So why don't you do that?
10:50 ndevos some of the other component maintainers merge patches in 3.8, but they do not really take release dates into account
10:51 ndevos if that is what is needed, I'll get it, sure, and as maintainer of 3.8 I would be surprised to see any objection from them
10:52 nigelb Exactly. So just get it done so it's official.
10:52 nigelb Then we can repeat this in the future as well.
10:55 ndevos nigelb: just wondering, why Vijay and Amye?
10:56 nh2 joined #gluster-dev
10:56 nigelb Community lead and Project lead.
10:56 nigelb I believe they're working on maintainers 2.0, seems like the best place to start.
10:58 misc maintainers 2.0 ?
10:58 ndevos lol, yes, that is a wip for probably 2+ years, the lead for that hasnt been very responsive in sharing
11:02 atinm My question is how many backports 3.8 branch is receiving on average for every releases?
11:04 ndevos atinm: somewhere between 20-40 each month
11:05 ndevos kshlm: script looks good to me, just tune the message a little

15:20 nh2 for bugs I file a couple days ago against 3.9 that just got automatically closed using that script, e.g. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1424805, can I reopen them for 3.10 or do I have to file new ones (thus losing the discussion)?
15:20 glusterbot Bug 1424805: unspecified, unspecified, ---, pkarampu, CLOSED EOL, Gluster returns EINVAL for close() when linux-aio and use-compound-fops are both enabled
15:27 jiffin nh2: you can reopen bugs for 3.10

22:44 major can someone explain to me the condition in which glusterd_create_missed_snap() and what brick the brickinfo is referencing?  I.e. is it the src brick for the snap or is it the dst brick for the snap which is incomplete?
22:47 vinurs joined #gluster-dev
22:50 major I guess what is confusing me the most is that if the brickinfo is the src brick, then doesn't brickinfo->path point to the same location as snap_opinfo->brick_path?
22:52 major and if brickinfo is an incomplete destination snap brick, then wouldn't doing a glusterd_get_brick_mount_device() against snap_opinfo->brick_path fail as the an incomplete snap pressumbly is not in the mount tables
22:55 major or .. snap_opinfo->brick_path is pointing at the src brick path .. and brickinfo->path is incomplete unless snap_status != -1 .. that fits..
