The word 'as' is necessary to separate the key from the value. It can be changed to another word via the learnSeparator registry value.

16:02 stefanha "W [socket.c:399:__socket_rwv] 0-socket.management: readv failed (No data available)"
16:03 stefanha "E [rpcsvc.c:509:rpcsvc_handle_rpc_call] 0-glusterd: Request received from non-privileged port. Failing request"
16:04 stefanha Trying to figure out what this error means.  Do I need to tweak an option somewhere to trust the client IP on unprivileged ports?
16:04 JoeJulian Hmm, there's a mark against xfs... You cannot mount a snapshot while the source is mounted. xfs has a problem with mounting two filesystems with the same uuid.
16:05 JoeJulian stefanha: To ensure that the remote host is running as root, they wrote it to refuse connections from unprivileged ports. You can override that by setting...
16:05 stefanha JoeJulian: okay, thanks.  Searching the docs...
16:05 stefanha server.allow-insecure
16:06 stefanha This is just for testing so using unprivileged ports is fine.
16:06 stefanha JoeJulian: thanks
16:06 hchiramm_ joined #gluster
16:06 JoeJulian You're welcome.
16:10 stefanha Hmm...I'm still getting the "0-socket.management: readv failed (No data available)" error
16:13 JoeJulian Yeah, I see that a lot.
16:14 stefanha JoeJulian: The gluster client is failing with "No data available" so I though this might be the cause.
16:14 JoeJulian Oh, I see it on glusterd, not the client.
16:15 JoeJulian Check glusterd's log on the server you're specifying for mount.
16:17 JoeJulian actually, can you truncate the client log, try to mount, and fpaste the client log please?
16:17 stefanha JoeJulian: My setup is kind of a hack right now.  I have both glusterfs.git and RPM packages installed.
16:18 stefanha And I'm using the qemu-kvm glusterfs integration patches (uses new glfs API)
16:18 stefanha I'm trying to make sure none of the system RPMs are getting used...
16:18 stefanha Will paste once I'm sure there's not a protocol version issue.
16:19 JoeJulian Well they've broken ever minor-version upgrade rpc translation in the past, I'd say that's probably it again this time.
16:20 JoeJulian I sure hope it's not though. I'd love to be able to tell people they can finally live-upgrade.
16:20 NuxRo JoeJulian: thanks

16:33 JoeJulian stefanha: Did you see manu's email about ssl? He was getting that same error and overcame it by reverting to non SSL (volume set gfs {server|client}.ssl false).
16:33 stefanha JoeJulian: FUSE mounting from the same host where I run the client works fine
16:34 stefanha JoeJulian: Thanks, I'll set that and see if it helps.

16:35 stefanha No difference, going to try debugging the client now.  It's suspicious that I see no logs on the server side when this client tries to connect.

16:43 stefanha Sweet, wireshark has GlusterFS RPC dissectors :)
16:43 ndevos stefanha: yes it does! let me know if you hit any issues :)
16:44 stefanha ndevos: Just got a segfault from wireshark but that happens often, might not be related ;-)
16:45 ndevos stefanha: ah. i've heard of that before, it was related with python-rpm
16:46 * ndevos doesnt know how to disable python with wireshark though...
16:49 stefanha ndevos: This doesn't look python-related: http://fpaste.org/kWwS/
16:49 glusterbot Title: Viewing Paste #249126 (at fpaste.org)
16:49 stefanha strlen() on a bogus pointer when clicking around the treeview from the GlusterFS dissector
16:50 stefanha ndevos: I have the core here if you need more info from gdb
16:50 stefanha just let me know
16:50 stefanha The actual callsite is:
16:50 stefanha #1  0x00007f3aebb4a760 in construct_match_selected_string (finfo=0x7f3aeeab4b60, edt=0x7f3af2de1200, filter=filter@entry=0x0) at proto.c:6906
16:50 stefanha 6906abbrev_len = (int) strlen(hfinfo->abbrev);
16:51 stefanha The abbrev field is a bogus address
16:53 stefanha JoeJulian: The client sends GETSPEC to retrieve the volfile (?) but the server closes the socket instead of replying
16:53 stefanha Wonder why it doesn't like this client ;-)
16:57 stefanha ndevos: If you like I can send you the pcap file
16:58 stefanha That way you could see if it kills your wireshark :)  (I'm assuming you developed the dissector?)
17:07 sshaaf joined #gluster
17:08 stefanha JoeJulian: It seems that although I enabled server.allow-insecure, glusterd isn't happy with the client's unprivileged port connection to fetch the volfile.
17:10 JoeJulian Well that's lame...
17:11 JoeJulian Sounds like you need to file a bug report. ;)
17:11 glusterbot http://goo.gl/UUuCq
17:11 JoeJulian When's your demo?
17:11 ndevos stefanha: yeah, if that's caused by a specific .pcap, I'd like to get it :)
17:11 stefanha JoeJulian: I'm not doing a demo, just a talk :)
17:12 stefanha ndevos: I'll try to figure out how to reproduce it.  It requires some clicking to trigger the crash.
17:12 stefanha Thanks JoeJulian and ndevos
17:13 ndevos stefanha: hmm... maybe i've had that once too, but I could not reproduce it either
17:14 JoeJulian I'm just scheduled for a talk, but I'm going to do a demo too. I'll spin up 4 rackspace hosts when I start talking, then at my "a working volume in under 2 minutes" slide, I'm going to open cssh, install glusterfs and build and mount a replica 2 volume.
17:19 ndevos stefanha: btw, maybe the crash is related to https://github.com/nixpanic/gluster-wireshark-1.4/issues/12
17:19 glusterbot <http://goo.gl/DbQqx> (at github.com)
17:36 NuxRo JoeJulian: will there be a video recording of said talk&demo?
