00:33 AK6L evening all; I'm trying to reach download.gluster.com but not having any luck.  is this a known problem?
00:35 jiffe1 download.gluster.org ?
00:36 AK6L no, .com
00:36 AK6L followed a link in a howto.
00:36 AK6L http://download.gluster.com/pub/gluster/glusterfs/LATEST/RHEL/
00:36 glusterbot <http://goo.gl/YGVh7> (at download.gluster.com)
00:36 jiffe1 try http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/LATEST/RHEL/
00:36 glusterbot <http://goo.gl/CpCRd> (at download.gluster.org)
00:36 AK6L hey, that works
00:37 AK6L thanks :)
00:37 jiffe1 no problem
00:52 semiosis AK6L: what outdated howto are you following?
00:53 semiosis maybe it's steering you wrong in other ways
00:53 semiosis too
00:54 AK6L semiosis: this one: http://www.gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Getting_started_install
00:54 glusterbot <http://goo.gl/chDN9> (at www.gluster.org)
00:55 semiosis heh, ok, that ones not too bad :)
00:56 semiosis I'll make a note on the discusson tab for that page
00:56 semiosis thanks for the feedback -- that's our community wiki so we can actually get things fixed on it
00:56 semiosis i was afraid you might have found some ancient howto written by some long lost 3rd party
00:56 semiosis as happens from time to time
00:57 semiosis just note that 3.3.1 is now the latest version
00:57 semiosis otherwise that guide is probably still accurate
00:58 AK6L cool
01:01 a2 JoeJulian, i'm catching up on email. going through your life cycle page only now

02:46 lng Hi! On clients, Gluster is mounted with 'log-file=/var/log/gluster.log' option, but such file is created on 1 of the 4 nodes, the node on which replicated cluster was created. On the other 3 nodes, this files is absent. Is it normal?
02:47 lng /var/log/gluster.log is present on clients also, which is expected

12:48 kleind say i had to replace a node in a replicate setup due to hardware failure and rewriting the data by gluster is still in progress ... is it safe for clients to access data while data copying is still in progress or is it possible that they get directed to the not-yet-completely-written data?

18:05 GLHMarmot I haven't been lucky with google with this question. Is there a way to add gluster to an existing filesystem full of files? I have a drive full of data. I want to replicate it with gluster but don't want to have to copy it into an empty gluster fs which if I don't have to.
18:08 inodb_ joined #gluster
18:08 NuxRo GLHMarmot: afaik you can't start with pre-populated bricks, you  need top copy the files over a gluster mount point ...
18:11 GLHMarmot Dang. Oh well, I was hoping. It just takes a lot longer with several TB of data.
18:11 GLHMarmot Thanks.

20:16 JFK hi
20:16 glusterbot JFK: Despite the fact that friendly greetings are nice, please ask your question. Carefully identify your problem in such a way that when a volunteer has a few minutes, they can offer you a potential solution. These are volunteers, so be patient. Answers may come in a few minutes, or may take hours. If you're still in the channel, someone will eventually offer an answer.
20:18 JFK Is there any way to force gluster tu use local files (if up to date of course)  instead of downloading via network in replica mode?

22:15 mnaser Anyone knows how you can handle failover when using NFS?
22:16 mnaser I would love to use the native gluster client but it's not a viable option because I'm doing mostly php traffic, etc.

23:36 GLHMarmot Another question. I configured the cluster with a private interconnect IP subnet. Unfortunately, I now want to mount one of the volumes outside of that subnet.  Can I just create this with a brick address in the correct (non-private) subnet? Or do I have have to somehow add the same peers with the non-private subnet as well. I could just go ahead and try it but, at this point, I don't want to spend the time to restore from backup
23:52 JoeJulian GLHMarmot: Actually you can. The left-hand brick will have to be the one with the data. (left hand in the list of bricks listed for the volume-create).
