17:06 polfilm Is there a name for one-way replication in Gluster? I basically I want to setup a leacher node that has to accept all changes but post back none?

17:37 mhoney polfilm: use lvm ;)
17:37 mhoney you can have a one way mirror
17:42 jdarcy joined #gluster
17:42 polfilm mhoney: please expand this into at least a sentene. no idea where to go with that
17:45 kkeithley joined #gluster
18:02 mhoney polfilm: LVM allows you to do what your asking about.
18:03 mhoney polfilm: You could also use UnionFS
18:04 polfilm mhoney, so i set up my source on LVM or UnionFS with some config and that will prevent gluster from writing to it?
18:05 polfilm mhoney, is there a setting in gluster for that? ie. read-only, one-way-replication or something of this sort?

18:06 mhoney polfilm: unfortunately I have never used gluster.  Im here to learn myself ;)
18:07 polfilm mohney, that would be cool. i have a neeed to push some info to few clients but i don't want them to change anything in the repo.
18:08 polfilm mhoney, ok.

18:50 adrian15 Hi. Trying to use glusterfs on ubuntu for the first time. When trying to run: sudo gluster peer probe backup2.domain.com I get Connection failed. Please check if gluster daemon is operational. This is iptables: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1485869/ and this is cli.log: http://paste.ubuntu.com/1485873/ . The glusterfs according to service command is running so... my iptables wrong maybe? Thank you.

18:52 cicero adrian15: what if you change iptables to allow all tcp by ip?
18:52 cicero adrian15: to rule out that the ports are the issues
18:53 adrian15 cicero: That's what I'm trying to do right now so that iptables get empty but I'm not quite right there.
18:54 cicero adrian15: if it turns out to be ports, i bet you can do a `lsof -i` to see which ports are being used, and then allow those
18:55 adrian15 cicero: My iptables on backup2 are flushed. Let's see what happens. I still get the connection failed. Going to flush on backup1 too (from where I run the command).
18:55 cicero adrian15: this thread had a similar issue, though there wasn't much of a resolution http://gluster.org/pipermail/gluster-users/2012-August/011051.html

18:56 adrian15 cicero: Ok. Flushing iptables at backup1 did the trick. Hummmm.... I think I have to accept connections with source 127.0.0.1 ... will try in a minute.

18:59 adrian15 cicero: Adding 127.0.0.1 did the trick. Now going to test everything with both firewalls on and all the stuff.
19:00 cicero cool
19:01 cicero i never thought loopback would run through iptables
19:01 cicero weird
19:02 adrian15 cicero: Well, I suppose that usually you define your iptables binding them to an specific interface, the external one. As long as I did not do that... even loopback was filtered... so that you couldn't initiate any connections from it.

20:09 adrian15 What are the ports that need to be open so that the client thanks to mount -t glusterfs command can connect? All the doc that I find mention Gluster server ports but not sure if it's only for Gluster servers to connect to each of other or... if it's also compulsory for clients? Thank you.
20:23 m0zes polfilm: geo-replication is a one way sync.
20:24 polfilm m0zes: thanks! now that I can google.
