15:47 juhaj Ok, so now I made sure all my clients and servers have the same version of glusterfs. One client is STILL incapable of accessing the fs except as root or owner. Anyone else will simply get EACCESS
15:49 juhaj But I realised there's one difference between the working and non-working clients: the one which does not work is the only 32-bit machine in the mix. Is it possible glusterfs breaks with mixed bitnesses?

16:46 xeon0_ Hi.. could any kindly point me to any documentation/white paper/research paper that details the architecture of GlusterFS?

16:54 JoeJulian I have yet to see anyone do a good one.
16:54 JoeJulian Or at least one that I would consider a good one.

16:55 JoeJulian ... and I'm talking to myself apparently... <sigh>
16:59 johnmark gah... was just about to post a link to /arch
16:59 johnmark which is the best we have
16:59 johnmark :(
18:12 juhaj johnmark: Ok. Any other ideas?
18:15 johnmark juhaj: for... ?
18:18 juhaj johnmark: Sorry, I meant that for JoeJulian
18:18 juhaj johnmark: But the problem is the one I mentioned some 2.5 hours ago: on one client only root and file/dir owner can access glusterfs, others get EACCESS

18:40 JoeJulian juhaj: Check the log files. Check the directory path permissions.
18:42 juhaj Log files have only the usual "Transpoint endpoint is not connected" -complaints (which are supposed to be harmless) and "W [fuse-bridge.c:231:fuse_entry_cbk] 0-glusterfs-fuse: 297: LOOKUP() /linda-bellatrix => -1 (Permission denied)"
18:43 juhaj Permissions must be ok, since this happens on one client only: if the permissions were wrong, how could the same users on other clients access the fs without problems?
18:44 JoeJulian I was thinking more along the lines of the mount path.
18:44 juhaj is ok, /mounts is ok and the mountpoint itself is drwxrws---+
18:45 juhaj (By "ok" I mean the "standard" drwxr-xr-x and owner and group are both root)
18:45 JoeJulian same distro on both 64 and 32 bit machines?
18:48 juhaj All is Debian, all is same version of glusterfs (Well, one of the servers is older, but all clients are equal)
18:50 JoeJulian Which version are you using, now?
18:51 juhaj 3.2.7-5
18:53 JoeJulian Go ahead and fpaste the client log.
18:53 JoeJulian How are you trying to write to the client?
18:59 vpshastry joined #gluster
19:01 JoeJulian Ok, I can't wait around any longer. Got to run to the store. See you later.

23:20 ngm hello!
23:20 glusterbot ngm: Despite the fact that friendly greetings are nice, please ask your question. Carefully identify your problem in such a way that when a volunteer has a few minutes, they can offer you a potential solution. These are volunteers, so be patient. Answers may come in a few minutes, or may take hours. If you're still in the channel, someone will eventually offer an answer.

23:21 ngm I have a problem with a 3.3.1 gluster which worked OK for several months
23:21 ngm suddenly, the cpu load went to 100%
23:21 ngm we unmounted all the clients
23:22 ngm we rebooted/restarted glusterfs on the server machines several times and nothing happened
23:22 ngm it's a replicated volume with two machines
23:22 ngm right not, it's running without any clients
23:23 ngm if i strace one of the processes that is using the CPU, i see that is running gettimeofday() with the speed of light
23:23 JoeJulian ngm: probably ,,(ext4)
23:23 glusterbot ngm: (#1) Read about the ext4 problem at http://goo.gl/xPEYQ or (#2) Track the ext4 bugzilla report at http://goo.gl/CO1VZ
23:26 ngm as far as I see, the ext4 problem does not affect debian squeeze (which we are running on the two nodes)
23:37 ngm JoeJulian: I read about the ext4 problem on your blog, but I don't think we are affected by that (we are running 2.6.32-5-xen-amd64)
