09:10 ndevos druonysus: glusterd is the management daemon that starts all the other processes on demand
09:11 ndevos druonysus: the glusterfsd service script is only used for stopping glusterfsd (brick) processes on shutdown
09:39 RedShift anyone experienced with vmware esxi and gluster? I've set up gluster and it's working fine, but the read performance is low
09:39 RedShift when I use an NFS datastore on ESXi, I'm getting read speeds of ~60 MB/s, if I connect a linux client using NFS to the gluster server I get ~110 MB/s
09:40 RedShift that's a huge gap
09:47 Debolaz What's the proper way of mounting a glusterfs filesystem? Right now, I have an init script that is set to run after glusterfs-server, and mounts up a noauto mount from /fstab when it runs. It feels a bit odd, but it's the only thing I've found that actually seems to work correctly.

09:59 RedShift anyone?
10:06 * Debolaz does not know. :)
10:07 Debolaz Although speaking of performance, did 3.4 implement any way to disable self heal on stat?

10:13 RedShift Debolaz I don't think so no
