09:51 Dw_Sn I have a basic question, when a client mounts the glusterfs volume from one client, how is the data replicated / striped into the other server ? from one server to another, or from client to both servers ?

10:50 Dw_Sn gothos: why so why why why :(
10:51 gothos Dw_Sn: that I cannot tell you, but you could use the nfs server backend which would do the former AFAIK
10:52 gothos but I never really used that
10:54 Dw_Sn gothos: ? what do you mean ? all I am trying to do, is to have the servers replicating on sperated link "loop back" which the volume is configured using those internal IPs, but the client is connected via the public IP
10:55 Dw_Sn gothos: so client talks to both clients using the public IPs and sure not the internal "because it is not connected to that network" so I was hoping that the replications / striping would be using the internal links between teh servers directly
11:00 ndevos Dw_Sn: glusterfs clients connect to all the bricks directly, there is no process that proxies and redirects the requests
11:01 ndevos Dw_Sn: this prevents a single-point-of-failure
11:02 ndevos Dw_Sn: http://www.gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Features/new-style-replication will introduce the feature in 4.0
