00:28 tomatto please, i have two virtual servers on physical server and 1TB left for data, i want some help with decision how to manage that with plan to rent one more server with the same configuration. make that 1TB space as one partition and mount it to both virtual servers or use distributed volume for 500GB per virtual server. and how to set it up when i add second physical server - replication i suppose right?

07:13 dmnchild Hm, after changing some ssl settings, everything seemed to be working. upon a service restart, none of my gluster commands seem to work. Commands just hang. (so cant revert settings back). Same result if the service is running or not. 3.7.2 on Debian 8.
07:17 dmnchild So farm most the posts refer to version differences, but this isnt the case as all the servers are running same version os and gluster.

14:47 laxdog Hey, I'm just checking for my sanity before I blow away 100's of Gb of data. If I do a gluster volume delete, it will only delete the meta data etc? Not the data I want to keep? I'm trying to remove a broken volume so I can recreate it.
14:48 laxdog From what I read this is the case. Again, I just don't want to loose this stuff. Working hungover on Sunday isn't good! :/

17:16 Curdes I am observing a behavior in Gluster, and I am looking for an expert to tell me if it's normal
17:17 Curdes I read some posts related to it, but it's mainly just emails from 2012, with people bitching about the quality of the software

20:19 tomatto hi, please i have two virtual servers on one physical server and want to know if is better to use gluster with distributed volume or mount one partition in both virtual servers. and when i want to add replication with other server, if it can be done on the fly and how?
20:26 yoavz Hi, I have a two node cluster with replice 2 setting. One node died and I started a new server to replace and replicate the data from the dead node.
20:26 yoavz For some reason I can't get it to work.
20:26 yoavz How can I remove the dead replica and re-add the replica brick?

20:40 LoSboccacc ok bot, the question is: if I get thousands files into a single directory and run a 'ls something*' what gets sent over the network? if a file name is 100 bytes, do hundreds of megabytes of metadata go to the client and then get filtered, or does the filter happen on the bricks metadata and only the requested filenames are sent to the client?
