00:09 jbrooks Hey all, I'm having an issue with the trashcan feature from gluster 3.7 -- I don't want it enabled, the hidden trashcan folder is causing me headaches, but I can't seem to disable the feature or delete this directory -- anyone else see an issue w/ this?
00:13 jbrooks I just hand-deleted this dir off my bricks directly... I'll see if I can firm this up into a bug report if applicable

06:14 dgbaley I have socket files in a glusterfs mount which AFAI can tell, aren't supported. So I can't even remove them (as root). Anyone bump into this or know how sockets work with gluster?

08:54 ndevos dgbaley: we had that problem reported a while back when gluster/nfs was used, current versions should have been fixed
08:54 ndevos dgbaley: are you mounting over nfs, and what version do you use?
08:55 ndevos http://review.gluster.org/#/q/Ic6a23165df1703b330636a059967c3c674dbde57 says all patched were merged in july

09:30 dgbaley ndevos: I'm using the latest 3.7 branch on CentOS 7.2. I tried both fuse.glusterfs and nfs3 in order to delete the sockets.
09:32 ndevos dgbaley: hmm, please file a bug with details on how to reproduce it
09:32 glusterbot https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=GlusterFS
09:44 harish joined #gluster
09:46 ndevos dgbaley: if you're on CentOS-7, are you building packages on your own, or do you use the packages from the CentOS Storage SIG?
09:51 dgbaley ndevos: I use http://download.gluster.org/pub/gluster/glusterfs/LATEST/EPEL.repo/epel-$releasever/$basearch/
09:51 dgbaley ndevos: how is gluster supposed to handle sockets?
09:52 ndevos dgbaley: sockets should just work as on other filesystems
09:54 ndevos dgbaley: not sure what you are trying to do, but streams through sockets are not distributed to other servers, like write on one, read on another server
09:54 dgbaley Are they local to each host though? When I attempt to create sockets now I get permission denied errors.
09:54 ndevos dgbaley: yes, local to each server that reads/writes to them

09:55 ndevos dgbaley: do you have selinux enabled? I think I remember an issue selinux where bricks were not allowed to create sockets
09:56 dgbaley ndevos: I don't expect that to happen. a) I am unable to create sockets, which broke some applications before changing configuration. b) I have a bunch of users homedirs mounted via nfs and I can't delete old users' dirs because sockets are in the way.
09:56 dgbaley I do, lemme check audit
09:57 dgbaley Thanks, there are denials
10:00 dgbaley Is there a better place to mount my bricks? I've been doing it under /srv
10:01 ndevos whatever makes most sense to you, personally I prefer /bricks
10:01 haomaiwa_ joined #gluster
10:01 dgbaley I meant in terms of the selinux policies. I see that I can do a restorecon that labels everything var_t from unlabeled_t.
10:02 ndevos right, I do not know if the policy contains paths
10:03 ndevos there is a gluster_brick_t type, or something like it though
10:04 ndevos we have some hooks under review that set the correct context when a brick is added to a volume, that should take care of most things
10:04 ndevos but that hook is not merged yet, I think
10:05 ndevos http://review.gluster.org/6630 in case you are interested in that

10:17 ndevos dgbaley: there is a "download" link in the upper right corner of the webui
10:20 ndevos dgbaley: something like this would work: git init glusterfs.selinux ; cd glusterfs.selinux ; git fetch http://review.gluster.org/glusterfs refs/changes/30/6630/4 && git checkout FETCH_HEAD
10:20 ndevos dgbaley: you can also download the archive, and extract the files you need from it
10:21 dgbaley I'm already running it =)

11:09 dgbaley Yup, I already changed my repos.d and puppet module, but am not oging to bother restarting anything.

22:35 jackdpeterson Hello, I'm looking at bringing a failed host back into what has historically been a replica 3 volume (no distribution, just replication). When I re-add the brick it brings all web-servers down because that brick is basically empty / load is too high? Is there a good way to pre-warm the new brick?
22:35 jackdpeterson so ATM I reduced replica to 2 and would like it to be back to replica 3.
