02:34 Javezim Hey All
02:35 Javezim Trying to run a rebalance
02:35 Javezim Getting this error "volume rebalance: gv0: failed: Rebalance on gv0 is already started"
02:35 Javezim However when I check, using gluster volume rebalance gv0 status, the last rebalance shows as a success and finished
02:36 Javezim Any idea why I cannot run another rebalance?

14:06 JoeJulian Ulrar: no, just use a firewall if you want to block access.
14:06 Gambit15 Hey guys, I've got a 2-node rep2 cluster (2 bricks) which, until I'm able to provide a third node for quorum, I'd like to reduce to 1-node rep1 (1 brick) to avoid split-brain issues.
14:08 Gambit15 I presume first thing I need to do is disable R/O mode when there's less than 50% quorum, then remove the 2nd brick. Correct?
14:08 squizzi joined #gluster
14:10 Gambit15 *51% quorum
14:10 JoeJulian Gambit15: if you remove-brick to remove the replica brick(s) the replicate translator will no longer be in the graph so it can no longer enforce any quorum. In other words, simply removing the bricks will be sufficient.
14:11 Gambit15 So... gluster volume remove-brick myvol s1:mybrick start
14:11 plarsen joined #gluster
14:11 Ulrar JoeJulian: That's a lot more difficult to add without impacting anything
14:12 Ulrar Would be so simple to tell glusterfs just what interface it's supposed to be using like any other service
14:12 JoeJulian Feel free to file a bug report asking for that feature. It comes up about twice a year in here.
14:12 glusterbot https://bugzilla.redhat.com/enter_bug.cgi?product=GlusterFS
14:13 JoeJulian I know that they've had some plan in mind for a much more configurable network strategy, but I don't think anyone's donated any resources to it.

14:56 Ulrar I don't understand, I accept everything on the interface it's supposed to be using
14:58 Ulrar Oh I get it, I should be putting vmbr1 in my rules, not eth1 !

17:37 Gambit15 Can anyone answer why bitrot detection in gluster isn't automatically enabled?
17:37 Gambit15 Hits performance perhaps?
17:38 Gambit15 ...or because it's assumed that bricks will be on RAID devices that should pick it up automatically?
17:38 mhulsman joined #gluster
17:40 Gambit15 What's the likelyhood that a file on a brick becomes corrupt & gluster's standard checksumming doesn't pick up on it?

17:51 Ashutto i have a little problem (possibly a bug to fill). Possibly due to an high disk latency, the brick filesystem went unmounted. Glusterfs didn't noticed that and wrote some data on the local (underlying) filesystem. Is there a way to force a stop to every brick operation in such occurrence ?
