09:10 TvL2386 hi guys, I just did some testing with glusterfs. 2 servers with 1 volume replica 2. I've killed the brick on 1 server and started it later with `gluster volume start volume01 force`. `gluster volume heal volume01 info` shows that the brick has 38 entries.
09:11 TvL2386 I have 38 files with filesize 0
09:11 TvL2386 the other brick does have the file contents
09:11 TvL2386 why doesn't it perform a heal automatically/
09:13 satya4ever joined #gluster
09:16 TvL2386 it auto healed....
09:19 jiffin TvL2386: healing is performed from client side(not from server to server), either u need run heal command so that self heal daemon can perform heal or using gluster native client

09:48 itisravi jiffin: but you are right in the sense that it is a client process.

11:38 Rasathus Hello.  Is there a specific command I can use to increase the replica count.  I've seen that its possible to set the replica count as part of an add-brick or create opperation, but I want to increase the replica count on a volume where I already have the bricks associated.
11:39 post-factum Rasathus, add-brick with increased replica count :)
11:39 Rasathus I already have all the bricks associated with the volume.  I don't need to add any bricks, just increase the replica count.
11:40 kshlm Rasathus, If you don't add new bricks when increasing the replica count, you will be losing data on some of the existing bricks when they get picked as replica for other bricks.
11:40 post-factum Rasathus, ah, you need conversion
11:40 post-factum Rasathus, no then, you have to remove some bricks and re-add them as replicas
11:40 kshlm This is why what you ask isn't supported.
11:41 kshlm Or you have to do as post-factum says.
11:41 post-factum Simon says, remove brick
11:41 post-factum Simon says, add brick

17:07 g3kk0 anyone know of any issues with enabling NFSv3 in GlusterFS 3.8 for a volume?
17:08 ashiq joined #gluster
17:08 g3kk0 it's a fresh install and I see the default has now changed to have this disabled
17:08 JoeJulian nfs-ganesha is now the recommended way to provide nfs.
17:09 g3kk0 I've run 'gluster volume set gv0 nfs.disable false' as stated in the docs but it still isn't working
17:09 g3kk0 nfs-ganesha is way more complex than what I need
17:09 g3kk0 is nfsv3 no longer supported?
17:10 JoeJulian It's still supported.
17:10 cloph g3kk0: then just don't use the complex stuff.
17:10 cloph just ignore all that HA stuff
17:10 JoeJulian +1
17:11 g3kk0 I had a nice setup using nfsv3 and keepalived
17:11 g3kk0 ideally I'd like to avoid changing it
17:11 jiffin joined #gluster
17:11 g3kk0 should just setting 'nfs.disable false' make nfsv3 work?
17:11 hagarth joined #gluster
17:12 cloph no. nfs-ganesha is a separate service/daemon that you have to start/run.
17:12 JoeJulian Should. Perhaps you need to restart glusterd?
17:12 cloph oh I misread, sorry ._9
17:13 g3kk0 I tried a restart hoping that would solve it, but no luck
17:13 JoeJulian Anything in /var/log/glusterfs/nfs.log?
17:13 g3kk0 I don't even see the gluster nfs process running
17:13 g3kk0 :q!
17:13 JoeJulian But I don't want to quit!
17:14 g3kk0 ah
17:14 g3kk0 actually quite a few thing
17:14 g3kk0 could not register with portmap may be a problem
17:15 g3kk0 I thought installing gluster-server would pull down and start all the services required
17:15 JoeJulian I thought ubuntu started *everything* by default, whether it was secure or not.
17:16 g3kk0 seems not
17:18 JoeJulian I suppose the package doesn't necessarily _require_ portmapper (or whatever it is ubuntu uses). It's only required if you want to use nfs.
17:18 g3kk0 yep
17:18 bfoster joined #gluster
17:18 g3kk0 and now it's off by default not much point in starting it unless you're using it
17:19 JoeJulian I don't know. Ubuntu does a lot of silly things. Maybe the gluster package should require it for ubuntu.
17:19 JoeJulian It's their philosophy that any novice should be able to administrate it?
17:21 g3kk0 thanks for your help
17:21 g3kk0 I'll run through the other errors in the log to try a satisfy everything
17:22 JoeJulian Good luck. :)
